Cage stability directly affects the dynamic performance of rolling bearing, which, in turn, affects the operating state of rotating equipment. The random collision between the rolling elements and the cage pocket is the main reason for cage instability. In this paper, from the perspective of the relative sliding velocity between the rolling elements and the bearing raceway, the interactions of the rolling elements and the cage pockets were analyzed, and the four zones with different collision features were defined. On this basis, and on the basis of the bearing dynamics model, the interaction of two adjacent rolling elements and the cage pockets in the a’–b’ area is discussed, and the peak impact force of the adjacent two balls and the cage pockets was investigated in terms of the rotation speed, radial load, acceleration/deceleration, and materials. When the ball runs close to the loaded zone, the probability of multiball random collision increases, which leads to an increase in the cage instability. At the entrance of the loaded zone, the peak impact force has the greatest impact on the cage stability during the acceleration process. Compared to the radial load applied to the bearing, the peak impact force is more sensitive to the bearing speed changes. The multiball collision analysis method provides a new idea for the research of cage stability.

In order to solve the problem of waste heat collection from energy consumption, a thermal energy generation device combining shape memory alloy and piezoelectric materials has been designed. The shape memory alloy is heated and deformed to drive the drive wheel continuously, and the impact wheel is deformed against the piezoelectric cantilever beam during the rotation of the drive wheel to generate electricity. In this paper, the impact force generated by the impact wheel and the output voltage of the piezoelectric cantilever beam during the rotation process are given. Finally, the experimental test shows that the larger the radius of the drive wheel, the lower the impact force of the wheel and the lower the output voltage of the piezoelectric cantilever beam; the larger the diameter of the shape memory alloy wire, the higher the impact force of the wheel and the higher the output voltage of the piezoelectric cantilever beam; the more teeth of the drive wheel, the higher the impact frequency of the piezoelectric cantilever beam and the higher the output voltage. The maximum output voltage of the thermoelectric converter is 14.2 V, when the drive wheel radius is 13 mm, the shape memory alloy wire diameter is 1 mm and the number of impact wheel teeth is 6. The new structural design provides a new structural model for waste heat recovery and thermal energy generation technology. The new structural design provides a new approach and idea for waste heat recovery and thermal energy generation technology.

The destructive and impactful forces of debris flow commonly causes local damage to engineering structures. The effect of a deformable barrier on the impact dynamics is important in engineering design. In this study, a flow–structure coupled with Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics model was presented to investigate the effects of barrier stiffness on the debris impact. A comparison of the results of physical tests and simulation results revealed that the proposed smoothed particle hydrodynamics model effectively reproduces the flow kinematics and time history of the impact force. Even slight deflections of the deformable barrier lead to obvious attenuation of the peak impact pressure. Additionally, deformable barriers with lower stiffness tend to deform more downstream upon loading, shifting the deposited sand toward the active failure mode and generating less static earth pressure. When the debris flow has a higher frontal velocity, the impact force on the barrier is dominated by the dynamic component and there is an appreciable effect of the stiffness of the deformable barrier on load attenuation.

Extensive studies have been carried out on cutting rock with a PDC cutter, but cutting rock assisted by impact force is rarely studied. In this paper, cutting rock using conical and cylindrical PDC cutters assisted by impact force were researched with the explicit dynamic model. The laws of cutting rock using a cylindrical cutter assisted by impact force are the same as those of a conical cutter. There are thresholds of impact frequency and amplitude when they are single variables. When impact frequency is lower than the threshold frequency, the impact frequency is the dominant frequency in the frequency spectrum of weight on bit (WOB), and the amplitude of dominant frequency and removal volume decreases with the increase of impact frequency. When the impact frequency is higher than the threshold frequency, there is no dominant frequency in the frequency spectrum of WOB, and the removal volume behaves the same. When the impact force is lower than the threshold amplitude, there is no dominant frequency in the frequency spectrum of WOB, and it does not affect the removal volume but the removal volume is positively correlated with the impact amplitude. When the impact amplitude is higher than the threshold amplitude, the removal volume is also positively correlated with the impact amplitude, and the removal volume assisted by low-frequency (20 Hz and 40 Hz) impact force is higher. The frequency threshold and amplitude threshold of the conical cutter are smaller than those of the cylindrical cutter. Although the cutting depth and removal volume of the conical cutter are lower than those of the cylindrical cutter, the amplifications of cutting depth and removal volume of the conical cutter are higher than those of the cylindrical cutter when assisted by impact force.

Abstract The docking structure has broad application prospects in the construction of tower assembly. However, the docking structure has a relatively large quality, which has a greater impact on the operations of high-altitude workers. This paper studies the impact force on docking structure during the docking process. The finite element analysis (FEA) model of the docking structure and the tower section is established and the impact force of the docking structure under various wording conditions is calculated. Based on the calculation results of the impact force the lightweight research of the docking structure is carried out and the optimization constraint conditions are proposed. The simulation model is established by ANSYS and the optimization design of guiding tools and vertical limit tools are completed by adjusting the structural parameters. After the optimization design, the docking structure is trial-produced and tested. Through the method of FEA and experiment, a butting device that meets the requirements of strength and rigidity and is lighter in weight is obtained. Compared with the existing docking structure, the weight of the optimized docking structure is reduced by about 39%. The research results can provide a reference for the design of the docking structure.
