The subject of this research is the current practice of the Russian evangelical congregations and associations in the area of realization of tasks on preparation of ministers and clergy members. Such activity is held within the congregations, jointly with secular universities, as well as on the premises of theological educational establishments. Wide range of options on the one hand opens opportunities for decision-making for the leaders of congregations, but on the other, substantiates restrictions and risks with regards to the quality of preparation, as well as from the perspective of applicability of particular legislative norms to the corresponding practice. As the basic approach towards solution of research tasks, the author selected the so-called methodology of soft system, which is one of the varieties of systemic analysis. This methodological direction allows reconstructing and comparing normative statutes and relevant practice within the area under consideration. The scientific novelty consists in examination of the variety of practices of preparation of ministers and clergy members within the framework of Russian evangelical churches using the resources of systemic analysis. The author was able to systematize the indicated practices, as well as determine their key characteristics necessary for making efficient administrative decisions by the leaders of congregations and educational establishments. The acquired results are also important for the development of Russian legislation in part of regulation of state-confessional relations.

While the move towards criterion-referenced assessment in Australia represents a step in the right direction, the path is fraught with political and technical hazards. Advocates of criterion-referenced assessment tend to overdraw the distinction between norm and criterion-referenced assessment, and to play down the difficulties inherent in spelling out criteria and setting standards at the Year 12 level. Nevertheless it is a good idea to try to clarify the domains of each subject (integrated structures of knowledge and ability which underly areas of expertise) and to experiment with new tools and technologies being developed by measurement specialists. We must also recognize that we cannot hope to improve the art of assessing the quality of students' work by an infinite expansion along a scientific-technological path in all areas of the curriculum. In many areas, we will always be dependent on the expertise and judgment of connoisseurs, and judgments will always represent an uncertain blend of criteria derived from the subject and the assessors on the one hand, and norms ebbing from those being assessed on the other.

The article reviews the use of audiovisual tools in the framework of foreign language classes. Such tools should, on the one hand, simplify the understanding and grasping of the subject, and, on the other, serve as an additional source of gaining extralinguistic skills. The authors consider a wide range of possibilities for the use of audiovisual tools while teaching Spanish to students of non-language higher education institutions of humanitarian profile. An educational film “Español extra” and a documentary devoted to the San Fermín holiday (Pamplona, Spain) are taken as an example.

The subject matter of this research is the correlation between the judges’ assertiveness and the efficiency and quality of judicial work. The primary aim is to examine whether there is a correlation between the judges’ assertiveness, on the one hand, and the efficiency and quality of their work, on the other hand. The second aim is to explore the correlation between the efficiency and quality of judicial work. The starting premise is that there is a correlation between particular indicators of these variables. Judges’ assertiveness is a conditionally independent variable used as a referential point for measuring two conditionally dependent variables: the efficiency and the work quality of the judiciary. The assertiveness was measured by a standardized questionnaire which was distributed to a research sample including 40 judges from the Criminal Department and the Civil Department of the Basic Court in Niš in May 2015. The efficiency of judicial work was measured by employing four indicators: the clearance rate (CR), the disposition time (DT), the clearance coefficient (CC) and the percentage of solved cases as related to the total number of cases (PS), whereas the quality of judicial work was assessed by measuring the overall work quality (WQ). The data on the efficiency and quality of judicial work were collected from the 2014 Report on the work of the judges in the Civil Department and the Criminal Department of the Basic Court in Niš. Contrary to our expectation, the most important finding is that there is no correlation between assertiveness and the efficiency and quality of judicial work; however, there are various correlations between the aforementioned indicators of efficiency and quality of judicial work.

Slavophilism and Slavophils were the issue of V.V. Rozanov’s reflections and comments practically during the whole period of his publicistic activity from the end of the 1880-ies till 1918. At the same time his opinions differed diametrically, - from acceptance to denial. It would be too easy to interpret this fact as the thinker’s “paradoxism” and “changeability” especially because outwardly contradictory opinions can be found in the texts of one and the same period, while the key characteristics are repeated in the texts dated dozens years apart and for the outward look could seem to give different evaluations to the described phenomenon. The author of the article tries to show, on the one hand, the internal unity not only of the characteristics, but also of certain evaluations that may seem to sound oppositely, and on the other hand, to reveal the grounds of Rozanov’s understanding of Slavophilism, while paying special attention to the multiplicity of meanings that he attributed to this notion. Taking into account this multiplicity, it would be correct to say that, on the one hand, Rozanow was very far from most Slavophil themes and subjects, and on the other hand, he referred most of the authors in his circle and practically himself to Slavophils, interpreting Slavophilism in this case as one of the two parts of dichotomy (with “Westernization”).

Although cannabis has been used for thousands of years for medical and recreational purposes, the debate on its introduction as a medical product has only recently begun. That discussion was preceded by the discovery and explanation of the active components in cannabis on the one hand, and the discovery of the endocannabinoid system in mammals on the other. Numerous studies over the past thirty years have focused on their further examination, and scarce clinical studies show the beneficial effects of cannabis on the wide spectrum of diseases. The question is why, thirty years after the discovery of the endocannabinoid system and the CB1 and CB2 receptors, as well as the positive results in cannabis administration in a wide range of diseases, extensive clinical studies and relevant explanations are still lacking. On the other hand, one may wonder if something important is being denied to patients who might find cannabis use beneficial? Therefore, it is important to analyze several different problems. What is the subject of the dispute, and which cannabis derivatives are allowed? Why do we not have relevant clinical studies, that is, all of those are of a very limited extent? How are clinical studies conducted? To whom are these derivatives intended and are there ethical dilemmas regarding their use?

Starting with the controversial esoteric employment of audio recordings by followers of the charismatic Muslim preacher Sharif Haidara in Mali, the article explores the dynamics emerging at the interface of different technologies and techniques employed by those engaging the realm of the Divine. I focus attention on the “border zone” between, on the one hand, techniques for appropriating scriptures based on long-standing religious conventions, and, on the other, audio recording technologies, whose adoption not yet established authoritative and standardized forms of practice, thereby generating insecurities and becoming the subject of heated debate. I argue that “recyclage” aptly describes the dynamics of this “border zone” because it captures the ways conventional techniques of accessing the Divine are reassessed and reemployed, by integrating new materials and rituals. Historically, appropriations of the Qur’an for esoteric purposes have been widespread in Muslim West Africa. These esoteric appropriations are at the basis of the considerable continuities, overlaps and crossovers, between scripture-related esoteric practices on one side, and the treatment by Sharif Haidara’s followers of audio taped sermons as vessels of his spiritual power, on the other.

The author of the article analyses the problem of the female emancipation in the little-known feuilleton “Amazonia: A Very Inept Story” (1924) by Mykola Chirsky. The author determines the genre affiliation of the work and examines its compositional structure. Three parts are distinguished in the architectonics of associative feuilleton: associative conception; deployment of a “small” topic; conclusion. The author of the article clarifies the role of intertextual elements and the method of constantly switching the tone from serious to comic to reveal the thematic direction of the work. Mykola Chirsky’s interest in the problem of female emancipation is corresponded to the general mood of the era. The subject of ridicule in provocative feuilleton is the woman’s radical metamorphoses, since repulsive manifestations of emancipation becomes commonplace. At the same time, the writer shows respect for the woman, appreciates her femininity, internal and external beauty, personality. He associates the positive in women with the functions of a faithful wife, a caring mother, and a skilled housewife. In feuilleton, the writer does not bypass the problem of the modern man role in a family, but analyses the value and moral and ethical guidelines of his character. The husband’s bad habits receive a caricatured interpretation in the strange behaviour of relatives. On the one hand, the writer does not perceive the extremes brought by female emancipation, and on the other, he mercilessly criticises the male “virtues” of contemporaries far from the standard. The artistic heritage of Mykola Chirsky remains little studied. The urgent task of modern literary studies is the introduction of Mykola Chirsky’s unknown works into the scientific circulation and their thorough scientific understanding.

The Age of Enlightenment is defined as the period when the universal ideas of progress, deism, humanism, naturalism and others were materialized and became a golden age for freemasons. It is wrong to assume that old and conservative Christian ideas were rejected. Conversely, freemasons put them into new general shapes and expressed them with the help of symbols in their daily routine. Symbols of freemasons had close ties with the past and gave them, on the one hand, a visible instrument, such as rituals and ideas to sense the transcendental, and on the other, intense gnostic aspirations. Freemasons put in a great amount of effort to improve themselves and to create their identity with the help of myths and symbols. It traces its origins to the biblical builders of King Solomon’s Temple, the posterity of the Templar Knights, and associations of the medieval craft guilds, which were also symbolical and became their link not only to each other but also to the secular world. In this work we analysed codified masonic symbols used in their rituals. The subject of our research is the universal Masonic idea and its aspects through the symbols in the daily life of the freemasons in Vilnius. Thanks to freemasons’ signets, we could find continuity, reception, and transformation of universal masonic ideas in the Lithuanian freemasonry and national characteristics of lodges. Taking everything into account, our article shows how the universal idea of freemasonry spread among Lithuanian freemasonry, and which forms and meanings it incorporated in its symbols. The objective of this research is to find a universal Masonic idea throughout their visual and oral symbols and see its impact on the daily life of the masons in Vilnius. Keywords: Freemasonry, Bible, lodge, symbols, rituals, freemasons’ signets.

Starting from previous studies in professional caregivers of people with dementia and other diseases in institutionalized centers of different regions, the aim of this study was to compare burnout levels that workers present depending on the center, to create a caregiver profile with high professional accomplishment and to describe the quality of life that residents perceive Murcia and Barcelona. The instruments used were the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), the Professional Caregiver Survey developed ad hoc and the Brief Questionnaire of Quality of Life (CUBRECAVI in Spanish) on residents. The results show, on the one hand, that levels of professional accomplishment may be paradoxically higher in the case of catastrophe and, on the other hand, the 98.2% of users are satisfied with the residence in which is located and 81.8% with the manner in which occupy the time. The conclusions that are extrapolated from the study shed light on the current situation of workers and residents and the influence that an earthquake can have on them.
