Kata Kunci: kebutuhan keluarga pasien PICU, mixed method, persepsi perawat Abstract  Mutual understanding between nurses and patients’ family on family needs during their child’s stay in PICU. The literature review indicated that factors affecting parents’ needs in a PICU are interrelated and not easily, or appropriately, assessed by using an inventory. Therefore, the objective of this study was to explore the needs of parents whose child has been an in-patient in a PICU, not only from the parents, but also from the perspective of nurses. A mixed method approach has been employed in this study. Quantitative data has been collected by using modified version of Critical Care Family Need Inventory, while the qualitative data was gained through in-depth interview.  The result of data analysis showed that there were no significant differences between the perception of the nurses and parents regarding the needs. The finding suggests that in general, PICU nurses in these two hospitals have better understanding about the parents' needs in comparation with most of nurses in the previous studies.  Keywords:  families’ needs in PICU, mixed method, nurses’ perception

The current focus on the transmission of COVID-19 infection all over the world may probably distract public attention from psychosocial consequences of the outbreak in the affected individuals and in the general population. However, there is limited empirical information about its psychological impact on the people of diverse regions and nationalities. Hence, the study aims to understand the psychological impacts of COVID-19 and associated pandemic distress on the demographically diverse Indian population and the ways people are adopting to cope with them. A total of 261 respondents aged 18−73 years, representing more than 17 states of India, filled an electronic survey questionnaire. Survey research methodology following the mixed-method approach adopting both qualitative and quantitative methodologies was adopted. Results of the first phase of the study indicated significant psychological impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on respondents during the first three weeks of lockdown, especially the pandemic anxiety and social isolation. Physical health, fitness, self-care, family connect, learning of the new skill sets and self-growth opportunity were found to be some of the functional ways to cope with pandemic in this phase, whereas passive acceptance was expressed as a dysfunctional strategy to cope with pandemic coupled with negative emotions such as fear, anxiety, frustration and irritability for others. However, phase two of the study with 20% of respondents in the sixth week of lockdown revealed the exhaustion of the learning phase, limited efforts for self-growth and increasing anxiety and frustration. A great proportion of respondents expressed fear of losing global business scenario and its direct or indirect impact on them. A need for consistent and dedicated mental health care was recommended.

This paper explores Syrian refugees’ experience in terms of settlement and participation in Canadian labour market. It discusses the findings of research on labour market integration in Canada of racialized immigrants and refugees, as well as the state of economic insecurity among newcomers, to identify systemic patterns of discrimination and policy implications. A mixed method approach with in-depth interview and questionnaire surveys were used for an analysis. Long-term benefit, second-generation success, and reliance on government support were commonly observed. Language barrier, lack of host country’s experience, and lack of transportation were cited as common barriers to employment. This research confirms that there is no uniform process for refugees entering into a host country. Canadian government needs to create a structured program to be implemented in each province and deliver the same process for every refugee entering.

Abstract Background From 2010 to 2015, there was a twofold growth of new HIV/AIDS infection in Beijing among young students aged 15–24. HIV/AIDS education was found effective in promoting positive behavior change related to HIV/AIDS prevention. However, little evidence was found on the evaluation of HIV/AIDS education policy. This study aimed to evaluate the college-based HIV/AIDS education policy in Beijing. Methods By using a mixed method approach, the current study reviewed college-based HIV/AIDS education policy at national level and in Beijing from 1985 to 2016 and conducted policy content analysis to evaluate the policy ability to structure implementation. Cross-sectional surveys in 2006 and 2016 were used to evaluate college’s implementation of relevant policies. T test, χ2 test, and logistic regression were used to analyze college students’ perception of HIV/AIDS education provided in their colleges and their knowledge of HIV/AIDS and their risk factors. Results Fourteen pieces of national policy and four pieces of Beijing’s policy were identified. Policy’s ability to structure implementation was at moderate level. The percentage of students in Beijing who ever perceived HIV/ADIS education at colleges decreased from 71.14 to 39.80%, and the percentage of students with comprehensive knowledge of HIV/AIDS dropped from 50.00% in 2006 to 40.42% in 2016. Conclusions HIV/AIDS education in college had drawn considerable attentions from the Chinese government, while the policy implementation needs further strengthening.

Background. An unexpected hospitalization in any of the Critical Care Units (CCUs) is a stressful condition, not only for patients but also for other family members. Research in this field in Jordan is not available. The main objective of this study was to identify the most important needs as perceived by these family members in the light of this stressful event and compare them with the nurses’ perceptions of the importance of these needs and also to determine the perception of the needs’ importance with the sociodemographic characteristics of both family members and caring nurses. Methods. This was a cross-sectional study conducted in the period between February and August 2020 among adult family members of patients admitted to the CCUs in hospitals of Jordan from all sectors (public, private, and teaching). The “Critical Care Family Needs Inventory (CCFNI)” questionnaire was administered to 82 family members and 99 CCU nurses to determine the importance of the needs on the inventory. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Results. The most important need identified by the family members was relevant to the need for proximity (3.64 ± 0.45), followed by information (3.57 ± 0.58), assurance (3.44 ± 0.43), support (3.31 ± 0.62), and comfort (3.21 ± 0.56). Nurses identified the needs for assurance as the highest, followed by information, comfort, and support, whereas proximity was the least need perceived as very important. The top 10 important needs for both family members and nurses were identified. Family members and nurses were only common in 2 of the need statements on the scale. There was no significant association between the sociodemographic characteristics of the sample and the perception of the needs’ importance ( p = 0.05 ). Conclusion. This study has shown that nurses and family members of patients admitted to CCUs have different perspectives relevant to needs’ importance. This should warn nurses to set the needs viewed by family members as a priority. Implications. In the CCU settings, in the context of advancing health informatics, families of patients in the ICUs have different needs other than those viewed by nurses. Their needs must be identified and considered.

Purpose of the study: This research examines the major organisation strength factors, important project management competencies, and the criteria for project success, and their interrelationship. Methodology: A mixed-method approach is applied with a positivist stance to test the validity of the proposed hypotheses. Based on the detailed literature review and five expert interviews, 'organisation strengths' are identified and classified into three subcategories, making a second-order construct. A survey strategy is used to collect data from PMO individuals of construction organisations. SmartPLS software is used to analyse 97 responses. Main Findings: The results of this study support the proposed relationship. It suggests that organisation strengths influence project management competencies and project success. Furthermore, resources and capabilities influence project success. The findings are in line with the literature suggesting that organisation resources and capabilities are important for project success. Application of the study: This study is relevant for PMO individuals, especially in construction organisations. The findings highlight the importance of organisational strengths that lead to build project management competencies and eventually attain project success. These organisational strengths are of great significance to both the researchers and industry practitioners. The originality of the study: This study has applied a mixed-method approach. The model in the study empirically tests the organisation strength factors affecting project success. Furthermore, the study used SmartPLS software to test the influence of organisation strength to increase project management competencies and their cumulative effect on project success.
