In this paper we present the design and operation of CATRASYS (Cassino Tracking System), a wire tracking system which has been designed and built at the Laboratory of Robotics and Mechatronics in Cassino. CATRASYS is capable of measuring large displacements and orientation variations of complex movable multi-body systems. The measuring principle is based on trilateration technique, which has been properly formulated for an easy use of CATRASYS. The basic performance and feasibility of CATRASYS have been checked through an error analysis and experimental results. In particular, a suitable novel approach for the determination of the measuring error is presented in this paper and examples are reported. Workspace evaluation of industrial type robots is presented and discussed as a practical application of CATRASYS: it can be considered as a novel experimental evaluation of workspace performances of robots.

Abstract Secondary electron detector (SED) plays a vital role in a focused ion beam (FIB) system. A successful circuit edit requires a good effective detector. Novel approach is presented in this paper to improve the performance of such a detector, making circuit altering for the most advanced integrated circuit (IC) possible.

The present report follows the case of a young boy with solitary median maxillary central incisor (SMMCI) syndrome between the ages of 4 and 7 years. This condition is characterized by the presence of one single maxillary central incisor in the midline instead of two central incisors. No other developmental abnormalities involving growth or brain function were noted at, or subsequent, to birth. This report includes a discussion of the aetiology of SMMCI syndrome and its association with birth defects such as holoprosencephaly (HPE), CHARGE and VACTERL, as well as a discussion of the long-term prognosis and associated dental and medical issues for this particular patient

AbstractAn altered facial appearance is more difficult to face, than problems related to ill-fitting denture or eating. The selection of maxillary anterior teeth for complete denture has long posed problem in clinical practice and a controversy about the best method to employ still exists. An attempt is made in the present study to clinically correlate the face form with maxillary central incisor tooth form in males and females of Davangere population. In 1914, Leon William's projected the “the form method” where he classified facial forms as square, tapering, and ovoid. Maxillary central incisors were selected according to the facial forms.Of total 100 subjects four different tooth forms and face forms were evaluated. They are: square, ovoid, square-tapered, tapered. No significant correlation existed between face form in male and females. Females exhibited greater correlation between face forms and inverted tooth form but that correlation is not sufficient to serve as a guide for selection of anterior teeth.

Wire of the brake pedal is not directly connected to the hydraulic environment in the braking By-wire system so the driver has no direct pedal feel. Then pedal simulator is an important part in the brake-by-wire system. A pedal force simulator was designed based on the traditional brake pedal curve of pedal force and pedal travel, AMESim and Matlab / Simulink were used as a platform to build simulation models and control algorithms. The simulation results show that the pedal stroke simulator and the control strategy meet the performance requirements of traditional braking system. It can be used in brake by wire system.

PEBB (power electronics building block) systems are typical nonlinear systems. Under the conventional but still popular linear control design, the system stability margin varies from one operating point to another. This paper introduces a novel approach to monitoring the DC bus stability margin of a PEBB system online. At the steady state of the system, a small-signal perturbation current î p is injected into the DC bus, and the load-side response current î L is measured. By checking the validation |î L ( jw)| < |î p ( jw)|, the system stability margin can be examined. Experiments on a 48 V DC DPS demonstrate the proposed measurement approach. An implementation approach is also proposed for an 800 V DC PEBB-based testbed system.
