The performance culture teaching method was first proposed by the American Sinologist Wu Weike. It is a teaching method to learn a second language through the comprehension and practice of the target language. It focuses on culture and practice. The learner presents the story in a rehearsal manner in the context of the target language culture. Picture book teaching is a popular teaching method for primary school English teachers at this stage. Its novel feature of moving from outside class to classroom makes it an indispensable teaching method in primary school English teaching. This article takes the PEP version of the third grade English textbook as an example for teaching design and integrates the performance culture teaching method with the picture book teaching in the primary school English classroom teaching. The focus of research in teaching design is teaching implementation, that is, the application of performance methods in primary school English classrooms. This teaching design combines picture book teaching and performance culture teaching methods to promote primary school English teaching.

In this study, we address two purposes: to see the appropriateness between the lesson plan and comprehensible aspects of the 2013 Curriculum components, and appropriateness between teaching preparation made by teachers and the K-13 contents. This study employed qualitative approached applying observation and questionnaire to collect data. Analysis was based upon Miles and Huberman (1994) theories on data collection, data reduction, data display, verification and cioncklusion drawing. Results show that the suitability between completeness of the components lesson plan with Curriculum 2013 is very less appropriate and the percentage suitability between learning process with teacher’s lesson plan 54.34% indicates low appropriateness. Completeness and components of lesson plan are low in seven aspects: indicator formulation, learning objectives, material development, teaching method plan, selection of media and learning resources, plan of teaching stages, and assessment and evaluation process. In addition, the appropriateness of learning process and plan in the lesson plan is perceived in different way dependent in teacher role and context when teaching in the classroom.

This research is descriptive with a qualitative-quantitative approach. The study was carried out with students from the 9th year of primary school. The teaching methodology based on the PBL was applied in two phases: In the first phase, a test of previous conceptions was carried out in order to know the perception of the students on topics related to some units of landscapes of the Amazonian ecosystems. The second phase consisted of the implementation of the learning methodology in the school environment. Four different phases were established in the application: i) selection of topics; ii) problem formulation; iii) problem solving; iv) synthesis and evaluation. Introduction. Teaching foreign language speaking skills to students of the same academic group having different levels of language proficiency within a restricted time period is an urgent problem for non-linguistic universities. Its solution requires an interdisciplinary approach and the integration of modern pedagogical, psychological and linguistic knowledge. The aim of the study is to prove experimentally the effectiveness of peer assisted learning organized within the regular classroom settings. Materials and Methods. The study is concerned with a peer assisted learning strategy aimed at the development of EFL speaking skills of low-skilled students. Unlike international practice of extra-curricular peer tutoring the given strategy is used among well-acquainted students within the regular classroom settings. Peer assisted learning is based on both qualitative and quantitative methods such as data collection of both foreign and Russian teachers, linguists and psychologists, analysis and generalizations along with the communicative language teaching method, experiment and observation . Results. As a result, the criteria for selection of peer tutors were formulated, a new structural component of peer assisted learning was developed and implemented, stages of teaching EFL speaking skills were pointed out, vocabulary and exercises appropriate to students’ knowledge and experience were selected. The researched model of peer assisted learning made it possible to integrate basic principles of the communicative method. Discussion and Conclusions. Through peer assisted learning tutees benefit by developing and practicing communicative skills, increasing motivation. All tutors and tutees are actively engaged in work, develop responsibility and collaboration, and improve academic achievements. The effectiveness is provided by systematic peer assisted learning, coordinated work of students in pairs/threes, taking top-down and bottomup approaches to teaching speaking, proper selection of vocabulary and exercises. The obtained results contribute to the study of problems of teaching speaking and motivate further study of peer tutoring and making additional experiments.
