This study aims to: (1) determine the feasibility of problem-based learning educational game media in German language learning (2) to determine the effectiveness of using problem-based learning-based educational game media on German language material. This type of research is development research using the ASSURE product development model and combined with the Dick and Carey learning design model. This research was conducted on class X students at senior high school   SMA Negeri 1 Sibolga. The method used in this research is a quasi-experimental method. The research sample consisted of 60 students consisting of 30 students as an experimental class who were taught using educational game media based on problem based learning and 30 students as a control class who were taught using youtube-based learning media. The results of hypothesis testing prove that there is a significant difference between the learning outcomes of students who are taught about self-introduction in German using problem-based educational game learning media and students who are taught using YouTube-based learning media. This is shown by the data acquisition, namely tcount = 11.27 while ttable = 1.695, at a significant level of 0.05 through interpolation ttable 1.695. It is concluded that the effectiveness of German language learning using problem-based educational game learning media is higher than using Youtube-based learning media.

This research looks at listening as one factor that gives contribution toward speaking among high school students. The study attempts to reveal through data analysis, in the form of students. score from each variable that both have correlation. Further the objective of the study is also to find out the extent of influence contributed by listening toward speaking. The research applies library study and field study (instrument designing and test performing both for listening and speaking). The theory used for analysis deals with listening and speaking correlation from language learning review. The result of the study demonstrates that the correlation of listening as the independent variable with speaking as dependent variable is positive. It also proves that with a unit of program or treatment given toward listening class, there will be a significant improvement equals with 3.134 times from previous speaking score for the same sample. For the analysis of data, the extent of correlation between two varibales is shown as low. It indicates that even though listening do have positive correlation towarde speaking, it is not the only deminant factor to determine success in speaking.

The purposes of the present study are two-fold: (1) To examine whether social psychological variables, such as attitude and subjective norm, can predict South Korean English as a foreign language high school students’ intention to learn English, and (2) to identify the best social psychological model for sustainable second language learning in the context of South Korean English as a foreign language (EFL) learning. A total of 614 South Korean high school learners of English participated in the present study. Data collected from a survey questionnaire were analyzed using a structural equation modeling procedure. Results of the present study indicate that South Korean high school students’ attitudes toward learning English and subjective norms made a significant and independent contribution to the variance in their intention to study English. Among the three competing social psychological models examined in the current study, the theory of Planned Behavior and an expanded model of Gardner’s Socio-educational Model proved to be the most effective in terms of the strength of path coefficients and explanatory power. Theoretical and pedagogical implications are provided.

The goal of this paper is to gain a deeper understanding of whether a short study abroad program is effective in increasing its participants’ willingness to communicate in a second language. Using a questionnaire designed by Yashima (2002), a pre-post design study was used to examine a sample of 80 Japanese junior high school students who participated in a ten-day study abroad program to Sydney, Australia. The results indicate that although there were no statistically significant differences seen in the second language learning motivation of the students participating in the study abroad program, there were salient decreases observed in the anxiety students felt towards speaking English. Furthermore, as clear differences were seen in international posture, joining the study abroad program also meant that students felt more a part of the global community. Based on these results, the author concludes that traveling abroad for the purposes of study is indeed effective for adolescent learners of English, helping them feel more comfortable using the language as a tool for communication.

This study aims to reveal (1) the construct and (2) the characteristics of the developed instrument for assessing Physics cognitive learning achievement of high school students in outdoor learning models through local wisdom-based fieldwork. This research was a research and development using the approach developed by Mardapi (2012: 110). The steps taken included (1) preparing instrument specifications, (2) writing the instrument, (3) reviewing the instrument, (4) doing instrument trial, (5) analyzing the instrument, (6) improving the instrument, assemble the test (8) implementing the test, and (9) interpreting measurement result. The results of the study showed that the  Instrument of cognitive skills consisted of 50 items with two-tier multiple choices focused on indicators of cognitive skills. The instrument was categorized fit the PCM 1PL and the difficulty level of the items ranges from -1,00 to 1,22 which means the items were in a good category. The reliability of the items was 0,89 for the ability ranging from -2 to 2 with standard error measurement 0,23, which means it was in a very high category.

The implementation of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) based on lesson study aimed to determine its effect on the biology learning achievement of high school students. This referred to quasi-experimental research by applying CTL learning based on lesson study to the experimental class and conventional learning in the control class. The population in this study amounted to 286 students (Science X class students of SMA Negeri 2 Jember). The sample in this study was determined through homogeneity test, normality test, and random sampling to determine the control class and the experimental class. The students' affective learning achievement was analyzed by using the independent sample t-test, while their cognitive learning achievement was analyzed by using ANAKOVA test. Based on the test results of the independent sample t-test, it was found that the students' affective learning achievement differed significantly between the students in experimental class and control class. Based on the results of ANAKOVA test, it was known that the application of CTL learning based on Lesson Study has a significant effect on students' cognitive learning achievement.
