This chapter covers Chapters 10 and 11 of The Ethical Demand, which focus on how Løgstrup sees the demand in relation to science on the one hand, and poetry on the other. In relation to science, Løgstrup argues for a form of philosophy that might be seen to challenge the ‘anti-metaphysical’ assumptions of scientific thinking, particularly in the way his account attributes a kind of normative authority to the demand as standing in judgement over our actions. Løgstrup also considers how far certain kinds of scientific determinism might pose a challenge to ethics, arguing that this challenge can be resisted. In Chapter 11, Løgstrup asks whether poetry can have implications for ethics, suggesting poetry can break through the triviality in which our lives are often lived, thus making us properly attentive to the world that surrounds us, including other people.

In this chapter, we will analyze a “Chord Namer” application that allows a user to enter a chord name and see the notes on a MIDI keyboard. Unlike the other patches we’ve worked on thus far, we will “build” this patch as a stand-alone program that can be used on any computer even if it does not have Max installed. Stand-alone programs are a great way of distributing your work to people for educational or commercial purposes. Open the file chord_namer.maxpat from the Chapter 11 Examples folder. This patch allows users to type in the name of a chord (C, for example) and see the chord displayed on a large kslider. Users can then play the chord on their MIDI keyboard while looking at the visual example. The letter name of each note appears on each chord tone when it is highlighted. For taller chords, a user may enable more chord tones to be added than simply just a root, third, and fifth. For example, a user wanting to play a Cdom7#9 chord could simply enable 7ths and 9ths to be displayed by checking the appropriate toggles, typing Cdom7#9 into the space provided, and pressing the return or enter key. 1. Type C into the text box at the top left and press the return or enter key 2. Play a C chord on your MIDI keyboard This patch could be useful for helping people perform a piece for which they have only a lead sheet with chord names. Let’s take a look inside the patch. The patch is currently in Presentation mode. Unlock the patch and put it into Patching mode. The patch is rather large in size so you may need to zoom out on the patch (⌘for Mac or ctrl for Windows ). Now that the patch is open, you may be surprised to see that there is only a small number of objects inside. Take note of the 3 bpatchers in the patch that generate chords, handle MIDI output, and, to the right, above the kslider, handle MIDI input.

Objective: To analyze the level of knowledge, attitudes, and practices of Mozambican public employees on the prevention of COVID-19. Methodology/Approach: 126 Mozambican public employees (79 men, 43 women and 4 who chose not to disclose their gender) answered a closed questionnaire applied through the Google Form online platform. The questionnaire was open for 5 days (two weekend and three business days). Findings: The results suggest that employees are knowledgeable; however, efforts should be made to carry out educational actions to improve attitudes and change practices related to the prevention of COVID-19. Research limitation/implications: Existence of some respondents who are not public employees due to online data collection, who were excluded from the study. Originality/Value of the article: The conclusions of the study serve as a means of punctual intervention for Mozambican health entities as well as illustrating specific areas of concentration in education for the prevention of COVID-19. On the other hand, they enrich the specific scientific field, which is still empty of knowledge.

LABURPENA: Herritarrei emaitza onak eskaintzeko orduan, Administrazio Publikoa ez dute beti gidatu izan bere xede eta betebeharrekin bat egiten duten jarduera-ereduek, eta administrazio txarra deritzona ekarri du horrek. Horren ondorioak ahultzeko, administrazio ona edukitzeko eskubidea eta administrazio onaren printzipioa agertu ziren, administrazioak jarduteko esparru gisara. Hala ere, enplegatu publikoek jarduteko esparrua izateko sortu ziren batez ere, horiexek baitira gizarteak eskatzen duen administrazioaren benetako egileak. Kontzeptu horretara hurbildu ondoren, eta hortik abiatuta, printzipio horren eta enplegatu publikoek kalitateko administrazioa lortzeko egiten duten jardueraren arteko harremana aztertuko dugu. Zehazki, printzipioak enplegatuen jarrera profesionalarekin eta lanaren gaineko ebaluazioarekin duen lotura aztertuko dugu; izan ere, ebaluazio hori funtsezko tresna da, administrazio on horren betetze-maila egiaztatzeko informazioa ematen du-eta. ABSTRACT: Public Administration has not always been guided by models of action according to its objectives and duties in order to offer satisfactory results to the citizens. This has gave rise to what it has been called a bad Administration. In order to counteract its shortcomings the right-principle of good Administration has appeared as a framework of the Administration action, but above all of the public employees, real authors of the Administration that the society demands. On the basis of an approach to this concept we analyze the existing relationship between this principle and the public employee performance in order to achieve the quality in the Public Administration, addressing, in particular, its con nection with professional behaviour and job evaluation, which is an essential tool, on the other hand, due to the information it offers to verify the degree of compliance of that good Administration.

Chapter 11 discusses the role and function of the LI case management supervisor, stressing how this form of supervision places the patient, not the worker, at the centre of the process. In this respect, Richards’ chapters mirror all the other chapters in this section: patient-centredness is a defining feature.

SummaryChapter 11 of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) provides for suits by foreign investors from the NAFTA Parties against one of the other Parties. The author reviews this provision and discusses its possible ambit in light of the decisions so far rendered. The author considers that, properly interpreted, Chapter 11 will provide an extraordinary means of redress and will not open the floodgates to all kinds of claims that second-guess legitimate governmental legislative activity or policymaking.

Chapter 11 presents the concepts of Nikolai Berdyaev and Lev Shestov who highlighted the mysterious dimension of the whole of reality from the perspective of his existential philosophy. For Berdyaev the main feature of the universe is mystery because it is coherent with the capacity for free, unforced cognition. On the one hand, for Berdyaev the rationality of the world illustrates divine rationality, but, on the other, he stressed that conceptual knowledge does not capture the mystery of the world and specifically does not solve the problems of existence. Lev Shestov was one of the more radical opponents of the expression religious truths by means of exploiting philosophical terms, and separated faith from reason. At the same time, he did not so much deny science, as the field of rational activity, which is scientism.
