Arab-American multicultural, or cross-cultural, literature related to different time periods is closely examined in the article. Tese writings are part of borderline literature due to the fact that the central theme in them is the theme of dual (transitional) identity. Te author provides a defnition of “liminality”, which is necessary when considering the phenomena of bilingualism and biculturalism. Te relevance of the study is due to the growing interest in emigrant literature as a source of meanings scattered in the text, contributing to the understanding of the social and cultural context. Te motive, image and the concept are singled out in the works of Arab-American literature to decode hidden meanings. Te results of the analysis of the main motives, taken in diachrony, are presented, and their similarities and differences are revealed. Te fact that the same motives, for example, the motives of nature and music, are found in completely different works, speaks of their semantic, cultural and literary signifcance. Te novelty of the research is seen in the combination of linguo-literary and linguo-stylistic methods in the analysis of linguistic material, which helps to identify psychological, cultural and social aspects in the Arab-American fction discourse.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui learning obstacle terkait konsep kombinasi pada pembelajaran disekolah menengah atas. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskripsi dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Untuk mengidentifikasi learning obstacle pada konsep kombinasi ini menggunakan tes kemampuan responden terdiri dari lima buah soal essay yang mengacu pada indikator pemahaman konsep. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah Siswa SMAN 1 Lebong Utara berjumlah 35 siswa dan mahasiswa FKIP matematika UMB berjumlah 14 orang. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa terdapat empat tipe learning obstacle, yaitu : tipe 1 adalah learning obstacle terkait konsep kombinasi, tipe 2 adalah learning obstacle  terkait concept image pada kombinasi, tipe 3 adalah learning obstacle  terkait variasi informasi yang tersedia pada soal, tipe 4 adalah learning obstacle terkait dalam penyelesaian soal pemecahan masalah pada kombinasi.Kata kunci : laerning obstacle, kombinasi,  matematika.

Optical imaging through scattering media is a fundamental challenge in many applications. Recently, breakthroughs such as imaging through biological tissues and looking around corners have been obtained via wavefront-shaping approaches. However, these require an implanted guidestar for determining the wavefront correction, controlled coherent illumination, and most often raster scanning of the shaped focus. Alternative novel computational approaches that exploit speckle correlations avoid guidestars and wavefront control but are limited to small two-dimensional objects contained within the “memory-effect” correlation range. Here, we present a new concept, image-guided wavefront shaping, allowing widefield noninvasive, guidestar-free, incoherent imaging through highly scattering layers, without illumination control. The wavefront correction is found even for objects that are larger than the memory-effect range, by blindly optimizing image quality metrics. We demonstrate imaging of extended objects through highly scattering layers and multicore fibers, paving the way for noninvasive imaging in various applications, from microscopy to endoscopy.

Those who are able to judge themselves as poor or called negative self-concept, will always try to stay away in relationships with their surrounding environment or act aggressively unnaturally but not naturally but can judge themselves well or have a positive self-concept and can overcome their problems. whatever problem it will be able to face and will solve it. Based on preliminary studies and previous research, it was found that self-concept is an important concept for interacting with the environment. Therefore, this study aims to determine how the self-concept image of street residents in the Al-Ayjb Foundation includes internal and external dimensions. This study is a qualitative descriptive study, with 3 subjects aged 17-20 years old. The data method used is the interview method, the method of observation and the method of documentation. The results showed that the self-concept image of the street singers at Al-Ayjb Foundation based on the internal dimension tends towards a positive self-concept because of the three subjects expressing opinions or things that are good or positive about themselves while from the external dimension it tends to negative self-concept.

The paper considers the semantic structure of the concept IMAGE in the German language. The article presents the results of the definitional analysis of the lexeme “Image”. The procedure of the definitional analysis, which enabled us to identify cognitive integral elements in order to objectify the concept of IMAGE, is specified. The classification of all identified semes is given in accordance with the activity-based approach; and the dominants of the ideal cognitive model of IMAGE are singled out, which include SUBJECT, OBJECT, MOTIVES, RESULTATIVE, and PROCEDURAL-SUBSTANTIVE SIDES of the concept. The structure of the idealized cognitive model of IMAGE is constructed of the units identified at the three stages of componential analysis. It is argued that the idealized conceptual model is associated with positive characteristics of an individual or a group of people in the eyes of others. At the same time the terminals included in the slots of the cognitive model are attacked in order to discredit a political opponent or to indicate the negative consequences of the politics conducted by the members of the outgroup. The author comes to the conclusion that the speaker purposefully tries to present his political opponents as inconsistent with the idealized cognitive model of IMAGE, discrediting their positive image in the eyes of others.

O objetivo deste artigo foi realizar um levantamento da imagem conceitual de alunos de um curso de Licenciatura em Ciências com relação à unidade imaginária e verificar se e em medida esta imagem conceitual pode ser incrementada por meio de uma intervenção didática. A unidade imaginária é um obstáculo para a aprendizagem dos números complexos, o que demanda um levantamento da imagem conceitual evocada pelos alunos diante de atividades envolvendo os números complexos. Na parte metodológica foi elaborada e aplicada uma intervenção didática, adaptada a partir das três fases iniciais da Dialética Ferramenta-Objeto, de Douady (1986), a alunos de uma universidade pública do estado de São Paulo. Os resultados revelaram certo incremento na imagem conceitual dos alunos, promovida pela mudança do quadro aritmético para o quadro geométrico advindo pela aplicação da intervenção didática.
