The issues of import substitution of geoinformation systems used in the geological industry when creating sets of State geological maps of the scale of 1:1,000,000 and 1:200,000 are considered. The current state of the issue is described. Additional functionality is indicated, which is necessary for the construction and preparation for publication of digital models of the maps of the set. Examples of domestic GIS are given, which can replace the foreign analogues in use. The problems and difficulties arising in this case were revealed. The ways of their solution are suggested.

Various methods based on growing bodies are lately gaining attention in a context of inverse gravity problem that we call a family of “assembly methods”. A variant of method was adopted for GIS INTEGRO in original formulation that is fit for the problem of multiple bodies incorporated in an environment of varying density, in absolute densities (not density contrasts) that are however have to be a priori specified. Such formulation allowed the implementation of the method that is suitable for territory modeling in the regional scale. To workaround method’s instability a number of changes are proposed that consist of introduction of priority on atomic modifications, modification queue and assessment of model evolution instead of just the final result. The developed software allows processing of large grids (tens of millions of tiling elements) even on 5–8 year old desktops. Based on method approbation experience some insights and practice methods are presented. An application example is presented as part of work on modeling of Enisei-Khatanga regional depression territory.

The article presents the developed non-stationary two-dimensional hydrostatic model of wave propagation in the water area of the port of the Bay of Five Hunters, protected by a coastal protection structure in the form of a jetty. The tasks of the work included the development of a model based on the Navier-Stokes and continuity equations and a long-range assessment of the possible impact of the wave situation on marine objects in the port area. At present, the provision of hydrometeorological predictive information is one of the most important factors in the effective operation of port waters. The results are presented graphically using a geographic information system, where different wave heights and maximum wave amplitudes are displayed using a color palette. The consistency of the obtained results is shown, and refraction, diffraction, and interference are noted for the incoming wavefront.

For the safe construction and operation of a bridge it is necessary to have a clear understanding of the landscape, geocryological and hydrogeological features of the territory. In this regard, a review of the geocryological study of the permafrost zone of the bridge crossing area has been prepared; the analysis of the published and archive literature on the geological structure and hydrogeological conditions of the area under study was carried out; field and fund data and data of engineering and geological surveys were studied and analyzed; control and linking field routes and geothermal measurements in wells were carried out. The results obtained in the course of this work served as the basis for the compilation of a permafrost landscape map and then a geocryological map of the bridge over the Lena river in the area of Yakutsk on a scale of 1 : 5 000. The geocryological map shows the spatial heterogeneity of the permafrost-landscape conditions of the territory under consideration due to zonal (altitudinal-belt), regional and local factors. The information base of geocryological characteristics was the data of engineering and geological surveys.

The authors of the article offer a specialized geoinformation system for use in forestry. A distinctive feature of the proposed system is the use of data processing module included in the GIS. Forestry requires to improve the quality of management and monitoring of forest resources, to enhance the perception of geoinformation in a user friendly form. One of the perspective technologies of geospatial information display is infograms displaying the evaluation of the territory under analysis. Such way of display requires a specialized interface, technologies of processing and data interpretation included in structure of the program, and specific characteristics of the system offered by the authors of this work.

For the radioactively contaminated territory of the Tula Research Institute of Agriculture, a database has been created for storing spatially oriented information. The created database contains information about the location of agricultural areas; crop rotation structure; distribution of values of specific activity of 137Cs on agricultural lands; agrochemical indicators of soils of agricultural territories (content of humus, potassium, phosphorus, acidity); soil types; relief. It also contains a calculation module for assessing the content of 137Cs in crop and livestock products. The accumulated data array will be used for designing adaptive landscape farming systems using information on the 137Cs content in the soil generalized over a long-term period.

Hydroisostasy as a geodynamic phenomenon was discovered along investigation sea level changes of the World Ocean as result of intakes water to glaciers during Glacial period and releasing back during Interglacials. The water loads under sea level changes influenced the change of solid Earth shape and make the contribution to the vertical Earth crust movement along shorelines areas. A vertical shorelines movements are critical issue of the longtime living infrastructure coast facilities design with the overflooding and overdrainage forecast. The main method of hydroisostasy phenomenon investigation is remain the digital simulation. The global character of phenomenon require simulation involving all planet volume and detail accounting of the lithosphere and mantle layers features for each region which is forced to use 3-D modeling with high resolution and require big computing resources. Finite element method with ability to assign boundary conditions allow to use local-regions models with enough resolutions and take into accounts local lithosphere and mantle features without involving big computing resources. One of the free software packs with open code and possibility applying FEM for geodynamics simulations is — ELMER, software designed and supported by Finland CSC — IT CENTER FOR SCIENCE LTD. The trial applying of ELMER software packs for modeling hydroisostasy phenomenon for Earth interior conditions close to Deryugin depression in Okhotsk sea in this study has done. A plausible and encouraging result obtained for continuation of research in more detail.
