Abstract Tangential compact neutron emission spectrometer (CNES) based on the Cs2LiYCl6:Ce with 7Li-enrichment (CLYC7) scintillator is newly installed in the Large Helical Device (LHD). Measurement of neutron energy spectrum was performed using CNES in tangential neutral beam (NB) heated deuterium plasma discharges. The Doppler shift of neutron energy according to the direction of tangential NB injection has been obtained. When the fast ions moving away from the CNES, lower shifted neutron energy is obtained, whereas the upper shifted neutron energy is obtained when the fast ions moving toward the CNES. The obtained neutron energy is almost consistent with the virgin deuterium-deuterium neutron energy evaluated by the simple two-body kinematic calculation.

Marine radars are increasingly popular for monitoring meteorological and oceanographic parameters such as ocean surface wind, waves and currents as well as bathymetry and shorelines. Within this paper a coherent on receive marine radar is introduced, which is based on an incoherent off the shelf pulsed X-band radar. The main concept of the coherentization is based on the coherent on receive principle, where the coherence is achieved by measuring the phase of the transmitted pulse from a leak in the radar circulator, which then serves as a reference phase for the transmitted pulse. The Doppler shift frequency can be computed from two consecutive pulse-pairs in the time domain or from the first moment of the Doppler spectrum inferred by means of a short time Fast Fourier Transform. From the Doppler shift frequencies, radial speed maps of the backscatter of the ocean surface are retrieved. The resulting backscatter intensity and Doppler speed maps are presented for horizontal as well as vertical polarization, and discussed with respect to meteorological and oceanographic applications.

Abstract Coronal holes (CHs) have subdued intensity and net blueshifts when compared to the quiet Sun (QS) at coronal temperatures. At transition region temperatures, such differences are obtained for regions with identical absolute photospheric magnetic flux density (∣B∣). In this work, we use spectroscopic measurements of the C ii 1334 Å line from the Interface Region Imaging Spectrograph, formed at chromospheric temperatures, to investigate the intensity, Doppler shift, line width, skew, and excess kurtosis variations with ∣B∣. We find the intensity, Doppler shift, and linewidths to increase with ∣B∣ for CHs and QS. The CHs show deficit in intensity and excess total widths over QS for regions with identical ∣B∣. For pixels with only upflows, CHs show excess upflows over QS, while for pixels with only downflows, CHs show excess downflows over QS that cease to exist at ∣B∣ ≤ 40. Finally, the spectral profiles are found to be more skewed and flatter than a Gaussian, with no difference between CHs and QS. These results are important in understanding the heating of the atmosphere in CH and QS, including solar wind formation, and provide further constraints on the modeling of the solar atmosphere.

Abstract When the rocket uses low-orbit satellite space-based measurement and control, due to the relatively large Doppler shift in relative motion, a spread spectrum system is needed to improve anti-interference; the spread spectrum signal under high dynamic conditions often uses partial matched filtering based on FFT (PMF-FFT) algorithm, but due to the introduction of FFT, this algorithm has serious scallop loss, which affects the system’s capture performance. Through the improved method of adding a Hamming window to the system, theoretical analysis and simulation show that it effectively suppresses scallops. Loss has a certain meaning for the acquisition of spread spectrum signals.
