Abstract The response of the ion current in the substrate region to the magnetic system configuration of a circular magnetron was studied during direct current sputtering of aluminum target. The unbalancing degree induced by changing of magnets’ positions was modelled with finite element methods. The ion saturation current in the substrate region showed more than twofold variation with unbalancing degree in the range 0.6–1.2. The dependence was non-monotonic, and the system was optimized to maximize the substrate ion current. The Langmuir probe diagnostics showed plasma density ~ 1016 m−3 in the optimized magnetic configuration.

In this study, we analyze the optical and electrical properties of silver nanowires/indium tin oxide transparent conductive electrode (TCE). Silver nanowire was synthesized by polyol method. ITO was deposited by direct-current sputtering. The diameter and length of the synthesized silver nanowire are in the range of 40-70 nm and 5-30 μm, respectively. The silver nanowire TCEs have a rather high resistance (~ 210 Ω /). After a layer of indium tin oxide sputtered on silver nanowire TCE, the resistance dropped sharply (~ 30.1 Ω/◻) corresponding to 84.1% transmittance at 550 nm. The figure of merit of this TCE is 68.3. This result shows that the fabricated silver naowire/indium tin oxide TCEs have great potential in application as window electrodes for solar cells and LED devices.

Nano thin films and nano coating have been applied in different fields in health care system because of their higher antiviral properties. Additionally, as the world have suffered since December 2019 from Covid-19 situation, different scientists and industrials people have tried to apply nano antiviral films and coatings in our daily life. In this short review, nano thin film coating procedure by DC sputtering technique has been reviewed, investigated, and evaluated by using different materials and device parameters in recent years. This report focuses on device factors that affect the thickness of nano-thin films for optical and optic-electric applications. These parameters including time, temperature, power, pressure, and flow rate of gases. The review provides more understanding meaning of the coating procedure by DC sputtering process.

Recently, molybdenum diselenide (MoSe2) has attracted nascent research attention for potential applications in electronic and optoelectronic devices due to its unique properties including tunable bandgap, strong photoluminescence and large exciton binding energy. However, the synthesis of reproducible, controlled and large scale MoSe2 films is still a great challenge. Here, we have investigated the morphology, structure and crystalline quality of MoSe2 films synthesized by the selenization of Mo metal films. The Mo metal films of different thicknesses were deposited at room temperature by direct current sputtering. Subsequently, MoSe2 films were prepared by selenization of sputtered Mo films at 550 °C for 20 minutes. The obtained MoSe2 films are polycrystalline with hexagonal crystal structure. The crystalline quality of the MoSe2 films is improved with increase in the thickness of Mo metal films. The MoSe2 films are found to be n-type in nature and reasonably stoichiometric (Mo/Se ratio ∼1:1.9). This study provides an experimental demonstration of an alternative cost-effective direct synthesis of MoSe2 films on SiO2/Si for the applications of semiconductor devices.
