<p>In this survey we present the state of the art about the asymptotic behavior and stability of the modified Mullins–Sekerka flow and the surface diffusion flow of smooth sets, mainly due to E. Acerbi, N. Fusco, V. Julin and M. Morini. First we discuss in detail the properties of the nonlocal Area functional under a volume constraint, of which the two flows are the gradient flow with respect to suitable norms, in particular, we define the strict stability property for a critical set of such functional and we show that it is a necessary and sufficient condition for minimality under $ W^{2, p} $–perturbations, holding in any dimension. Then, we show that, in dimensions two and three, for initial sets sufficiently "close" to a smooth strictly stable critical set $ E $, both flows exist for all positive times and asymptotically "converge" to a translate of $ E $.</p>

Studying the predominant occurrence and existence of English lexicon in other languages in contact with English has emerged out to be of immense interest among the researchers of sociolinguistics and theoretical linguistics. The present study is devoted to demonstrate various English-Kashmiri language contact situations and the subsequent diffusion/ flow of English words into the Kashmiri language. The study attempts to explore the significant role of media in its different forms in enhancing and determining the transport of English words into the speech of Kashmiri speakers. The study seeks to address the motivation and inspiration of Kashmiri speakers behind the English-Kashmiri linguistic shift, and the influence of the prevailing circumstances on this English-Kashmiri linguistic diffusion. The liberality of the English language in handing over such an enormously huge amount of word treasure to the Kashmiri language, and the receptivity of the Kashmiri language in accepting this vocabulary treasure from English at a very large scale has been thrown light on in the study. In the present study, an attempt has been made to display a comprehensive list of English words used in various domains of social life of the Kashmiri speech community.

Abstract We developed a technique for fabrication microfluidic silicon-glass chips with a system of nanochannels connecting two microchannel using traditional optical lithography and a focused ion beam. To investigate the transport phenomena in the nanochannels we experimentally studied their ion conductivity and using optical microscopy confirmed the existence of the diffusion flow through them. The developed method allows us to create systems of nanochannels with on-purpose geometry and controlled sizes. Devices with such nanochannels can be applied in the creation of biosensor devices and for genetic studies.

Abstract Porosity and permeability are important properties of porous materials, such as rocks and concrete. This paper presents the physical-mathematical modelling of a novel test, based on one previously developed by one of the authors (standardized in Switzerland, Japan and China) for measuring the air-permeability of concrete structures. In the present case, a cylindrical specimen is placed inside an air-tight cell, subjected to an initial vacuum pressure P 0, which is afterwards isolated from the pump. The rate of pressure increase (due to the extraction of air originally at atmospheric pressure Pa ) is related to the coefficient of permeability of the material whilst the final pressure attained is a function of the porosity (total amount of air extracted). The analysis assumes a unidirectional radial flow of air, which can be achieved by a special serial three-chamber vacuum cell (with pressure regulation of the external chambers) or by an air-tight sealing of the extreme faces of the cylinder. The analysis is developed under the assumption of viscous laminar flow. To account for the molecular diffusion flow, the test can be performed under vacuum (P 0 ≪ Pa) and under overpressure (P 0 ≫ Pa ), enabling the application of the Klinkenberg correction to get the intrinsic coefficient of permeability.

Object tracking is one of the most important topics in the fields of image processing and computer vision. Object tracking is the process of finding interesting moving objects and following them from frame to frame. In this research, Active models–based object tracking algorithm is introduced. Active models are curves placed in an image domain and can evolve to segment the object of interest. Adaptive Diffusion Flow Active Model (ADFAM) is one the most famous types of Active Models. It overcomes the drawbacks of all previous versions of the Active Models specially the leakage problem, noise sensitivity, and long narrow hols or concavities. The ADFAM is well known for its very good capabilities in the segmentation process. In this research, it is adopted for segmentation and tracking purposes. The proposed object tracking algorithm is initiated by detecting the target moving object manually. Then, the ADFAM convergence of the current video frame is reused as an initial estimation for the next video frame and so on. The proposed algorithm is applied to several video sequences, different in terms of the nature of the object, the nature of the background, the speed of the object, object motion direction, and the inter-frame displacement. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm performed very well and successfully tracked the target object in all different cases.

Abstract Shale flow has microscale effects, and the flow is more complex. In this paper, the flow model and flow equation which can be used in the analysis of shale gas flow is established, which is based on the single nanotube model and combined with pore throat test results of the shale core by high-pressure mercury injection, and calculated the contributions of seepage, diffusion, transition flow and free molecular flow to shale gas flow. The contributions of seepage and diffusion were over 95%, and seepage and diffusion were the main flow patterns. Then, a coupled flow model and the coupled flow equation of shale gas with seepage and diffusion were established, which proposed a calculation method of shale permeability and diffusion by relationship between flow pressure and shale gas flow rate, and finally shale gas flow experiments were carried out and analyzed. The results show that the shale gas flow model and the flow equation established in this paper can describe shale gas flow very well. The shale gas flow rate is composed of seepage flow rate and diffusion flow rate, and the seepage flow rate is proportional to the pseudo pressure difference and is proportional to the pressure square difference at low pressure. The diffusion flow rate is proportional to the difference in shale gas density and is proportional to the pressure difference at low pressure. With shale gas reservoir pressure drops, the proportion of diffusion flow increases. The research results enrich the understanding of shale gas flow; they also have certain reference significance to the development of shale gas reservoirs.
