Abstract. The irrelevant sound effect (ISE) describes the disruption of processes involved in maintaining information in working memory (WM) when irrelevant noise is present in the environment. While some posit that the ISE arises due to split obligation of attention to the irrelevant sound and the to-be-remembered information, others have argued that background noise corrupts the order of information within WM. Support for the latter position comes from research showing that the ISE appears to be most robust in tasks that emphasize ordered maintenance by a serial rehearsal strategy, and diminished when rehearsal is discouraged or precluded by task characteristics. This prior work confounds the demand for seriation with rehearsal. Thus, the present study aims to disentangle ordered maintenance from a rehearsal strategy by using a running memory span task that requires ordered output but obviates the utility of rehearsal. Across four experiments, we find a significant ISE that persists under conditions that should discourage the use of rehearsal and among individuals who self-report use of alternative strategies. These findings indicate that rehearsal is not necessary to produce an ISE in a serial recall task and thus fail to corroborate accounts of the ISE that emphasize the involvement of rehearsal.

In machining activities, sound emission is one of the key factors toward the operator's health and safety. Sound generation during cutting is the outcome of the interaction between tool and work. The intensity of sound greatly influences the cutting power consumption and surface finish obtained during machining. Therefore, the current work emphasized the analysis of sound emission, power consumption, and surface roughness in hard turning of AISI 4340 steel using a CBN tool which was rarely found in the literature. Response surface methodology (RSM) and artificial neural network (ANN) techniques were utilized to formulate the model for each response. The results indicated that the maximum value of input parameters exhibited the highest level of sound due to the creation of vibration in the machine and tool. Higher sound level indicates the generation of lower power consumption but at the same instant surface roughness was leading with increment in sound level. The feed rate exhibited the utmost noteworthy consequence on surface quality with 87.71% contribution. The cutting power can be decreased by choosing the high level of cutting parameters. The RSM and ANN have a good correlation with experimental data, but the accuracy of the ANN is better than the RSM.

A recently-completed building was fitted with a roof screen fabricated from perforated sheet metal panels having "U"-shaped upturned flanges. When wind impinges on the panels, complex tone clusters are generated, leading to complaints from the occupants. The unusual character of the tonal spectrum is reminiscent of a film sound effect intended to simulate a hovering extraterrestrial spacecraft. After some preliminary (but inconclusive) field investigations, it was decided to test samples of the perforated panel in a large commercial wind tunnel where the speed and angle of the airstream could be controlled. Tones generated in the tunnel were found to occur in groups or clusters - these are most pronounced when the airstream's angle of incidence is close to grazing. Gradually increasing airspeed caused the frequency of the tones to "jump" from one cluster to the next higher cluster. The physical principles of the tone-generating mechanism are not fully understood; however, it appears that structural resonances in the panel flanges are excited by air flowing over the perforate. Some form of a positive structural-acoustical feedback loop is involved since a) the frequencies within each tone cluster are quite stable and, b) damping the panel flanges extinguishes the tones.

Abstract: The high cases of disease spread during the rainy season must be overcome quickly and in various ways. A lot of socialization has been carried out, but it has not been spread evenly. Therefore, the design of this animation helps to spread information quickly and easily. Design is the activity of compiling the manufacture of a product from the initial idea to the final product. This animation design uses 3 stages, namely pre-production, production, and post-production. Pre-production is done by collecting and analyzing data, creating concepts, scripts, and storyboards, designing characters, properties, and environments. Meanwhile, the production is conducted through layout, animation, dubbing & sound effects, and compositing. Finally, post-production is conducted through editing, rendering, and publishing. The results of this animation design are animations that describe the symptoms of disease and disease prevention efforts during the rainy season. This animation has a duration of about 3 minutes in an mp4 format. This animation was published on the youtube channel. Background : Speech disorders are one of the problems that are often found in children. According to the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), based on parents' reports (outside of hearing loss and cleft palate), the incidence of disorders is 0.9% in children under the age of 5 years, and 1.94% at the age of 5- For 14 years, the need for managing disorders of children's verbal communication can be done with a variety of therapies, one of which is Murottal Al-Qur'an therapy. Murottal Al-Qur’an provides sound effect received by the ear and system and then transmitted to all organs of the body. Sound affects the cells of the body that have their own vibrations and cause the cells of the body to rearrange the articles in it. Where the role here is the vagus nerve which helps regulate heart rate, respiration, speech, brings motor sensory impulses to larynx of the heart and diaphragm so that the sound effects on autistic children can improve children’s communication skills. The method used in this research is Experimental Quasy with pre and post without control research design. Sampling using purposive sampling technique, in getting 10 respondents in accordance with inclusion criteria, data collection was done by using questionnaires and observation sheets, namely by using the DDST sheet (Denver Development Screening Test). Observations were made before and after Murottal Al-Qur'an therapy. The collected data is then processed using the Marginal Homogenity Test P value is obtained on the DDST (Denver Development Screening Test) sheet after the Murottal Al-Qur'an therapy is 0.001. The conclusion in this study is that Murottal Al-Qur'an therapy has an effect on verbal communication of children aged 3-5 years in the SaQu (Sahabat Qur'ani) TAUD of Polewali Mandar Regency.

AbstactMass communication must be adjacent to gatekeeper, referred to as gatekeeper in an assignment i.e. the person in charge of selecting, choosing, changing, responsible later on to a will be broadcast to audiences. At CeriaTV Pekanbaru Video Editor is the role holder of gatekeeper, because the video editor in CeriaTV Pekanbaru that will answer the results of the editing later and the creativity of an editor can add the selling value of a program that is edited and presented later to the audience. CeriaTv Pekanbaru still has a shortage of human resources, then the production Director, the documentation division can concurrently become an editor. The research aims to find out how the video Editor role in the production of Sembang Malam program at CeriaTV Pekanbaru. The subject of this study is CeriaTv Pekanbaru and the object of this research is the role of editors in the production of a Sembang Malam program at CeriaTV Pekanbaru. This research uses qualitative descriptive research methods. The results of the editor's role through the first three stages, the first offline editing stage, at this stage an editor can play a role in shooting with a cameraman whose goal is to know the picture during the editing process later, and data checking. Further more the online editing stage, at this stage an editor checks equipment on the editing equipment, has its own notes for editing (according to the script), content and video visuals, editors must have the creativity issued When content editing and video visuals take place. The last stage is mixing (merging between sound and video), at this stage the sound and video must be balanced and at this stage also there are additional sounds such as sound effect, and backsound if needed. From these three stages, an editor can produce programs, both and interestingly the program is in the editor and creativity of the editors package the program, hence the editor is very important to manage the program that will be aired on audiences. Talk show-based Sembang Malam programmes that cover the hottest things, as well as inviting guest stars that inspire, from communities and individuals.
