Abstract: The high cases of disease spread during the rainy season must be overcome quickly and in various ways. A lot of socialization has been carried out, but it has not been spread evenly. Therefore, the design of this animation helps to spread information quickly and easily. Design is the activity of compiling the manufacture of a product from the initial idea to the final product. This animation design uses 3 stages, namely pre-production, production, and post-production. Pre-production is done by collecting and analyzing data, creating concepts, scripts, and storyboards, designing characters, properties, and environments. Meanwhile, the production is conducted through layout, animation, dubbing & sound effects, and compositing. Finally, post-production is conducted through editing, rendering, and publishing. The results of this animation design are animations that describe the symptoms of disease and disease prevention efforts during the rainy season. This animation has a duration of about 3 minutes in an mp4 format. This animation was published on the youtube channel. Kata kunci: audiobook, buku teks, buku fiksi, media audio pembelajaran  Abstract: Modern society has a tendency to be instant and practical, as well as to be familiar with information and communication technology products. However, the demands of work and storytelling culture has created a hindrance towards the reading culture, especially the less-stimulated tendency to read textbook whereas reading is necessary as a way to keep up with the rapid development of science and technology. This paper aims to conduct a review of the audiobook as a instructional media for modern society. The study focused on: 1) the concept and characteristics of the audiobook, 2) audiobook production, and 3) the benefits of\ audiobooks. The results of the study show that the audiobook is an audio recording in the consists of text, images, and other illustrations. Audiobook Production can be done through 6 stages: needs analysis, desigining, recording and editing, reviewing/revising, implementing trial, and the utilization. Through production, the music and sound effects can be optimized. One of its primary benefits of audiobooks is that it can enable people to understand the contents of the book while performing daily activities without having to read them. Audiobooks are also the perfect fit for the storytelling culture of Indonesian people who prefer to enjoy speaking more but reading less. This way, the audiobooks can also help the blind and visually impaired to obtain knowledge from books especially ancient books as the way to express literary appreciation as well as to learn a foreign/local language. Therefore, the government and private sector as well as authors and book publishers need to make good contents of audiobook developed from the textbook or from a book of fiction. Similarly, clear regulations, particularly copyrights of authors and book publishers is also needed. Keywords: audiobook, textbook, fiction book, instructional audio mediaAbstrak:  Kehidupan masyarakat modern cenderung instan dan praktis, serta familier dengan produkteknologi informasi dan komunikasi. The BBC’s Planet Earth II represented a landmark in natural history documentary television, using the latest technologies to capture nature in ways never before seen or heard. But the series was mired in accusations of ‘fakery’ and ‘trickery’ when it came to the sound, due to its entirely post-production soundtrack. This article explores these accusations in the context of the history of Attenborough documentaries and contemporary practice.

Abstract Background The potential for an exotic disease incursion is a significant concern for the United Kingdom (UK) equine industry. Horse owners’ perceptions of, and attitudes towards, exotic diseases can influence decisions to adopt disease preparedness strategies. The objectives of this study were to describe horse owners’ 1) perceptions of the term ‘exotic disease’, and 2) attitudes towards their risk of being affected by an exotic disease. In order to address these objectives, qualitative content analysis was undertaken on data collected using two open-ended survey questions. Results Horse owners (n = 423) perceived exotic diseases as 1) belonging somewhere else, and 2) a dangerous threat to their horse(s). The term ‘exotic’ was associated with being foreign, non-native, and out-of-place in the UK. Attitudes towards exotic disease risk were summarised into four categories: 1) responsible horse owners prevent disease, 2) horse owners need support to stop disease spread, 3) risk depends on proximity to the ‘risky’ horse, and 4) some risk is inevitable. A ‘responsible’ owner was aware of health hazards and took actions to protect their horse from disease. Reliance on others, including stakeholders, to uphold disease prevention in the community led to feeling vulnerable to disease threats. When evaluating risk, horse owners considered which horses were the ‘riskiest’ to their horse’s health (horses that travelled, participated in competitions, or were simply unfamiliar) and avoided situations where they could interact. Despite undertaking disease prevention measures, the perceived uncontrollable nature of exotic diseases led some owners to feel an incursion was inevitable. Conclusions Without accounting for horse owners’ perceptions of, and attitudes towards, exotic diseases, recommendations to increase preparedness may be ineffective. Improved communication among stakeholders in the industry may assist in clarifying expectations for exotic disease-specific prevention measures. A collaborative approach among horse owners and stakeholders is recommended to improve disease preparedness within the industry.

This article appears in theOxford Handbook of New Audiovisual Aestheticsedited by John Richardson, Claudia Gorbman, and Carol Vernallis. Film remains at the apex of audiovisual culture, providing inspiration and aspiration for other media. Film music and other sounds from the soundtrack have extended film aesthetics beyond the bounds of film into other media and culture. Sound design now can use musical software to enhance sound effects in films and music composers to incorporate sound effect recordings. Soundtrack elements now appear to have an “aesthetic” character. Technology has engendered a spatial sonic arena wherein sonic elements have mixed into a sensual and psychological field. Modern film soundtracks often evince a conceptual or aesthetic unity strikingly similar to musical unity, evident in disc releases unconnected to the cinema. In films sounds on their own work in a different way, implying visuals that we then expect to see or imagine. That soundimpliesvisuals is crucial also to extended soundtracks outside film.

The insistence among later eighteenth-century critics of the Gothic novel that sound strongly marks the genre confirms the intuition that sounds in these works are meaningful. The Castle of Otranto is laden with the profusely sonic dimensions that commence with the text's opening pages. The analogue in modern film of Foley effects resonates because these are sounds, applied post-production, that often are louder and more striking than real world sounds; similarly,  film and the novel, unlike ordinary experience, can offer true silence.  Walpole was experimenting with a new written technology of sound description, related to effects on the stage of his day. Such theatrical sounds form part of the historical background to the analogy with Foley effects in modern film. Walpole is pioneering a new kind of rendering of psycho-acoustic ambience in the novel, and also psycho-acoustically actuated action. He opens up modes of experience not found in fiction prior to this novel – both with the use of written sound effects, and also with the psychic introjection of these effects to produce terror and horror in the minds of fictional characters.

ABSTRACTA variationist account of how direct quotations are framed in spoken Spanish requires definition of the variable and the envelope of variation followed by investigation of linguistic, stylistic, and social constraints. The variable is defined as a set of three strategies for directly quoting the speech, gestures, and sound effects of people, animals, or things in the natural world, real or imagined, faithfully or not. These strategies involve verbs of direct report, a bare noun phrase (Y yo, “¡¿Ay qué hago?!” ‘And I, “Oh, what should I do?’), and freestanding quotation with no frame. Investigation of linguistic constraints finds influence both from within and above the sentence. These include clause type, person, number, animacy of speaker, quotation content, switch reference, and a “birds of a feather” effect. Data on stylistic constraints provide evidence for style as a function of attention to form. Social constraints reveal complicated, yet familiar influences of age, sex, and class, with teenagers showing parallels to Eckert's work on gender and variation. Evidence also emerges for both age grading and a change in progress.

Background : Speech disorders are one of the problems that are often found in children. According to the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), based on parents' reports (outside of hearing loss and cleft palate), the incidence of disorders is 0.9% in children under the age of 5 years, and 1.94% at the age of 5- For 14 years, the need for managing disorders of children's verbal communication can be done with a variety of therapies, one of which is Murottal Al-Qur'an therapy. Murottal Al-Qur’an provides sound effect received by the ear and system and then transmitted to all organs of the body. Sound affects the cells of the body that have their own vibrations and cause the cells of the body to rearrange the articles in it. Where the role here is the vagus nerve which helps regulate heart rate, respiration, speech, brings motor sensory impulses to larynx of the heart and diaphragm so that the sound effects on autistic children can improve children’s communication skills. The method used in this research is Experimental Quasy with pre and post without control research design. Sampling using purposive sampling technique, in getting 10 respondents in accordance with inclusion criteria, data collection was done by using questionnaires and observation sheets, namely by using the DDST sheet (Denver Development Screening Test). Observations were made before and after Murottal Al-Qur'an therapy. The collected data is then processed using the Marginal Homogenity Test P value is obtained on the DDST (Denver Development Screening Test) sheet after the Murottal Al-Qur'an therapy is 0.001. The conclusion in this study is that Murottal Al-Qur'an therapy has an effect on verbal communication of children aged 3-5 years in the SaQu (Sahabat Qur'ani) TAUD of Polewali Mandar Regency.

This chapter explores the role of sound in The Birds. It is well known that Hitchcock does not use a conventional score in The Birds and music is heard only twice in the film. The rest of the soundtrack consists of dialogue and sound effects. However, prominent among the sound effects are the sounds of the birds themselves that were created with the help of an electronic instrument called the Mixturtrautonium devised and played by Oskar Sala. The Mixturtrautonium was a more sophisticated, “solid state,” version of an older valve instrument called the Trautonium, invented by Sala’s mentor Friedrich Trautwein. The “processed” character of the bird sounds, the complex role they play in the film, and the fact that they sound as if they are made by an “instrument” rather than simply being a “naturalized” sound effect, the chapter argues, all contribute to the sense that sound of the birds functions, in certain respects, like an electronic score, as opposed to a source sound.
