Most of the marine ecosystems on our planet are still unknown. Among these ecosystems, microalgae act as a baseline due to their role as primary producers. The estimated millions of species of these microorganisms represent an almost infinite source of potentially active biocomponents offering unlimited biotechnology applications. This review considers current research in microalgae using the “omics” approach, which today is probably the most important biotechnology tool. These techniques enable us to obtain a large volume of data from a single experiment. The specific focus of this review is proteomics as a technique capable of generating a large volume of interesting information in a single proteomics assay, and particularly the concept of applied proteomics. As an example, this concept has been applied to the study of Nannochloropsis gaditana, in which proteomics data generated are transformed into information of high commercial value by identifying proteins with direct applications in the biomedical and agri-food fields, such as the protein designated UCA01 which presents antitumor activity, obtained from N. gaditana.

LIFE CERSUDS is a project carried out over the period 2016-2019 whom the main objective was to improve the ability of cities to adapt to climate change by promoting the use of green infrastructures in the renewal of urban environments. Under the project, an innovative permeable urban pavement (hereinafter, CERSUDS) was designed using ceramic tile stock of low commercial value. This pavement solution was tested in a demonstrator in the town of Benicí ssim. The main objective of the project was to improve the ability of cities to adapt to climate change by promoting the use of green infrastructures in the renewal of urban environments. Under the project, a Sustainable Urban Drainage System (SUDS) was built as a demonstrator in the town of Benicí ssim, using ceramic tile stock of low commercial value to manufacture an innovative permeable floor (hereinafter, CERSUDS flooring), a subject already dealt with in an earlier presentation at this congress . Once the demonstrator had been built, a monitoring period was run between August 2018 and July 2019, which enabled both the CERSUDS floor and the demonstrator's value as a rainwater management system to be validated. This article presents the design process of the ceramic permeable pavement including the main results of the tests carried in the laboratory and the main results of the project relate to: environmental and economic assessment of the CERSUDS system, user's validation of the system, monitoring of the system's mechanical performance and permeability, and monitoring of the demonstrator's hydraulic response in terms of the quantity and quality of run-off water.

The inheritance practices of the ultra-wealthy play a key role in reproducing socio-economic inequalities across generations. Given this role, we need a better understanding of the individuals and families who own, accumulate and pass on substantial amounts of wealth. This article asks two questions: first, how do parents with profound ownership or control over capital reconcile cultivating dynastic wealth with beliefs in meritocratic achievement? And, second, how do wealth managers justify their commercial value to first generation wealthy clients? The answer to both of these questions involves what I call a pedagogy of inherited wealth. Drawing on semi-structured interviews with first-generation ultra-wealthy parents and their wealth managers, it documents how wealthy parents and wealth managers construct risky futures around inheritance, and their strategies to manage those risks through the control of access to the family’s wealth. In doing so, it explores how they produce two roles, termed here the ‘good inheritor’ and the ‘good client’. Through examining various strategies to manage family wealth and inheritance, the article reveals the legitimating and enabling pedagogy surrounding this process and the paradox at the heart of this pedagogy – which promotes both the value of work among the next generation of inheritors and the preservation of dynastic wealth that will preclude their dependence on income-generating work.

Broccoli is a short-term fresh storage vegetable; it most often goes to the processing plant where it is frozen or cold-stored. 1-methylcyclopropene gas (1-MCP) can be used to extend broccoli’s shelf life. The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of the genetic cultivar determinants, the use of 1-MCP and the storage time on the weight loss as well as the content of nutrients and harmful compounds in cultivars: ‘Bay Meadows’, ‘Monaco’, ‘Naxos’ and ‘Vicario’. The cultivars selected for the study differed significantly in terms of the traits after harvest and storage, and the differences were also conditioned by the interaction of the genetic factor and 1-MCP used, especially within 30 days after harvest. Of the broccoli cultivars, ‘Monaco’ demonstrated the lowest weight loss during storage, the highest content of dry weight, total sugars, vitamin C, both after harvest and after storage, in the samples treated with 1-methylcycloprepene after harvest. In turn, ‘Vicario’ lost most weight after storage and broccoli florets treated with 1-MCP have lost less weight. The highest amounts of nitrates and nitrites, both after harvest and after storage, were found in ‘Monaco’; however, the differences, as compared with the other cultivars, were significant, yet relatively low. The lowest compactness of the florets was recorded, and hence the lowest commercial value (basically unmarketable), for ‘Naxos’, ‘Monaco’ and ‘Vicario’ cultivars after 30 days of storage without the use of 1-MCP. However, due to the use of 1-MCP and low temperature (4 °C), the commercial value of those broccoli cultivars was satisfactory.

Due to the scale of this system, as well as the value of the stored information, there is a high risk of leakage or illegal receipt of confidential data that could be of commercial value to many entities, which is why this issue is relevant.

A arte tumular ou funerária representa o respeito dado a um indivíduo dentro do contexto histórico; acompanhada de grande carga emotiva, deve ser preservada para que este legado afetivo seja reverenciado.  O bronze é uma liga metálica composta basicamente de cobre e estanho, contendo ainda outros elementos químicos, fusão que aumenta a resistência do cobre sem alterar sua capacidade de deformação, permitindo a realização de obras de arte. Infelizmente, o cobre presente em artefatos de bronze, desperta a ganância de vândalos, que por alguns trocados destroem a memória de pessoas ilustres e queridas, um quadro revoltante pelo descaso dos responsáveis pela preservação do patrimônio cultural abrigado nos cemitérios. Tanto as placas de bronze, vasos e portas dos jazigos levadas de vários cemitérios estão sendo substituídas por desgraciosas peças de granito, sem valor comercial, porém padronizadas, acabando com as referências que individualizam cada jazigo, denegrindo a memória dos que ali repousam.   ABSTRACT Tomb or funerary art stands for the respect given to an individual within the historical context; coupled with a great emotional burden, it must be preserved so that this affective legacy is revered. Bronze is a metallic alloy basically composed of copper and tin, also containing some other chemical elements, and producing a fusion that increases the resistance of copper without altering its deformation capacity which allows the creation of art work. Unfortunately, the copper present in bronze artifacts awakens the greed of vandals who, for a few pennies, destroy the memory of distinguished and beloved people. This is a revolting consequence caused by the negligence of those responsible for preserving the cultural heritage housed in cemeteries. Either the bronze plates or vases and tomb doors taken from various cemeteries are being replaced by clumsy pieces of granite, with no commercial value, but standardized, putting an end to the references that individualize each tomb and disparaging the memory of those who rest there.

Abstract The volatile flavor compound in oil is an important indicator of quality which is widely used in the industry to assess the commercial value of oil. The volatile compounds of moringa seed oil were investigated by HS-SPME-GC/MS. The results showed that 52 volatile compounds were identified in moringa seed oil, including 12 hydrocarbons (20.66%),3 acids (23.99%),8 alcohols (8.28%),2 esters (2.61%),8 aldehydes (14.58%),2 ketones (0.82%),7 phenols (6.25%) and 10 heterocyclics (8.74%). Due to the low sensory threshold and high relatively content of aldehydes, aldehydes is one of the mainly factors to affect the flavor of moringa seed oil.

Settlements of yesso scallop Mizuhopecten yessoensis in the northwestern Tatar Strait (within the waters of Khabarovsk Region) are considered on the data of scuba (< 20 m depth) and dredge (> 20 m depth) surveys conducted in 2001–2018. To 2018, only two settlements remain in this area from 9–12 ones in 2010–2014; both remained settlements have no commercial value. Trend to decreasing of the settlements density is shown: the mean density was 3.0 ind./m2 in 2001, 0.20 ind./m2 in 2010, and 0.0005 ind./m2 in 2018. Commercially valuable scallops with the shell height > 120 mm prevailed in the settlements (86–100 %), whereas juveniles were rare or absent (1.6 %, on average) in all years of surveys. CPUE decreased from 200 kg/diver/hour in 2001–2003 to 10 kg/diver/hour in 2018. These changes are obviously reasoned by overexploitation of the population using dredging and scuba gathering. Total commercial stock of yesso scallop dropped to the minimal value in 2018: 200 t, that was in 4.5 times lower than the established limit. Thus, 5 years ban is established for M. yessoensis landing in the area.
