The article discusses the integration of qualitative and quantitative methods in psychological research. It is shown that the idea of such integration is embedded in the B.F. Lomov’s systemic paradigm and is in the general trend of modern research related to the Mixed Methods approaches. Examples of the development of the systemic paradigm in scientific and practical research of cognition and communication are given, in particular, concerning the application of the strategy of triangulation and the principles of inductive analysis for the integration of qualitative and quantitative empirical data. The specific possibilities of multiple triangulation and inductive analysis of not only data obtained by qualitative methods, but also quantitative data obtained by instrumental methods are considered. Studies are presented where qualitative (verbal) data are converted into quantitative ones, to which standard statistical procedures are applicable to identify causal links.

This study investigated cultural pieces of advertising to indicate the ways that publicists deploy socio-cultural resources as normative channels of persuading readers to consumption. To achieve that goal, ten advertisements of financial, food, and telecommunications industries, harvested from The Punch newspaper, the Internet and erected advertising frameworks, functioned as data of analysis. After stratifying the advertisements into appropriate organizations, the terminology of ‘Below the clause’, functioned as the processing instrument. This allowed the application of graphic illustrations to account for the frequency of communicative components. The analysis revealed the employment of nominal groups (the lessons; this Eid) as playing dominant roles in the constructs, verbal groups (taste; celebrate) and prepositional phrases (from all of us at Fidelity Bank®; of commerce), also operated as stimulating structures. Although negligible, minor clause (Happy Workers’ Day; Eid Mubarak) are relevant grammatical elements of inducement. Besides anchorage and relaying functions interlocking the texts, one observed ambiguity (your work; Bae) in the Union Bank® and Wema Bank® advertisements. Connotations facilitated the communication of Mama don land and the big bottle of Coca-Cola®; the spirit of our nation and green-white-green dresses; your work and Maman Aisha; and the sacrifice of Christ with the crown of thorns. Contexts such as Yorùbá traditions, family  ffairs, religious nuances, savings, and historical notions are propagated cultural endowments that influenced the advertisements’ meaning potential. As a result, the analysts might suggest that advertisers ought to consistently decorate their campaigns with cultural fortunes. Such behavior has the capacity to educate and influence readers to consumption in their various regional domains.

Abstract This work is devoted to promoting the principle of characterization, treated as a systemic paradigm binding in an integral whole the functional and structural aspects of any organization, under-stood as a deliberate relationship of related resources. The principle of characterization and the specific characterization theories built on its basis belong to the methodology of systemic research. Its essence is the axioms contained in model Ψa of the proper functioning, which are assigned to the relationships contained in model Ψb of the structure of this organization. The functional-structural paradigm considered is characteristic primarily of project activity in which an efficient structural response to a certain problem of the correct (safe) functioning of the organization as a whole or its considered part is sought after.

Abstract This research has been done in the field of Education, Sociology and Social and Organizational Psychology and forms part of a larger complementary research program. We cite: 1) Studies carried out with secondary level and university educators seeking to contrast psychosocial and other factors related to teacher training that influence teaching practice and teaching identity, versus feelings of failure, burnout and fatalism. 2) Research with teachers from different countries (Argentina, Spain, France and Paraguay) seeking to observe the weight that the macro-context has on issues that both teachers and their institutions face at the micro-level. 3) Currently, we are continuing this research, though this time analyzing the shared representations that university students have of the most urgent problems their professors face. The methodology utilized was quantitative-qualitative: questionnaires, semi-structured surveys including open phrases which allowed actors to speak freely and, in the case of the French-Argentine research with .with IUFM professors, a special qualitative technique was applied: hierarchical evocation. This allowed us to determine which aspects related to professional pathways (objective and subjective) formed part of the “core” of social or shared representations and which were secondary aspects at the periphery of said core. Our findings show non-linear relationships between study variables - Expectations, Satisfaction and Achievement - and self-sustained interplay along three levels: micro individual, meso organizational and macro social. These are interpreted in light of a new systemic paradigm in human and social sciences: “The Three-Dimensional Spiral of Sense”.
