The advancement of science and technology in recent years has led to heavy and diversified production and thus market congestion in various goods and services; which led to an increase of competition among advertisers in order to meet the needs and wishes and to upgrade to the level of consumers. These upgrades have imposed an increase in the usage of the promotions, including advertising in terms of quantity and quality, to influence and persuade customers innovatively and creatively using all available mass media. The research aims to identify the attitudes of residents of poor areas towards television advertisements for medicines, and the impact of those advertisements on them in terms of making purchase decisions. To achieve the objectives of the research, a stratified random sample (cluster sampling) was selected based on data and statistics taken from the Ministry of Planning (Central Statistical Organization) according to the criteria (governorate, district, district, alley) with a size of 482 males and females. The research has reached a set of results, the most important of which is that 73% of the surveyed sample confirmed that they took slimming drugs, which were identified through television advertisements, and that 54.6% of the sample confirmed that they sometimes believe in what is said about the capabilities of drugs that are announced on screens. This study on the translation of television commercials explores several aspects of this very specific audiovisual translation subtype. Firstly, it looks into dubbing and the language policies on Spanish television, which are issues affecting the decisions on the translation of television advertisements. Secondly, it approaches the notion of a TV ‘spot’ as an audiovisual text whose main components, image and sound, form a cohesive unity that is meant to trigger a persuasive effect, but may vary in translation. Finally, it analyses an example of a television spot, in English and in Spanish, focusing on the manipulation of the text when it is translated for Spanish television channels.

This study analyzes 157 unduplicated Cambodian television advertisements for differences in gender representation. The findings indicate gender differences for several variables, including the degree of dress (more men than women were fully dressed and more women than men were suggestively dressed), the setting (more women than men were at home and more men than women were in the workplace), voiceovers (male voiceovers clearly outnumbered female ones), and product categories (women were featured in advertisements for body care/toiletries/cosmetics/beauty products, and men were in advertisements for alcoholic drinks and automotive/vehicles/transportation/accessories products). Most of these gender differences were expected in the patriarchal society of Cambodia, where there are traditionally strict codes of conduct for men and women. However, some results (equal numerical representation, age) ran counter to most previous research. The potential effects of such representations on audiences are discussed based on social cognitive theory and cultivation theory.

The concept of "other", which is made attractive by different discourses in the consumption culture, is presented to users as an object to be consumed. The other phone, the other house, the other body, etc., which the consumers desire to reach. advertisements are always made more attractive than what they have. In a sense, instead of marketing products to people in line with their needs, new needs are tried to be marketed to this audience. As a result, in today's rapidly changing world, the necessity of going beyond traditional stereotypes has arisen in understanding consumer behavior. While examining the purchasing behavior of consumers, some new facts brought about by the changing and globalizing world order should also be taken into account, apart from the classical factors. Advertising is one of the most important concepts that trigger social consumption. Advertisements reach the target audience through different channels and television advertisements take a large share of this part. What is important for a company that advertises is that it prefers its own brand among the many different brands when the consumer goes to the market. However, with the emergence of many similar brands in the same categories, classical advertisements are not enough for a product to be the first choice in the minds of the consumer. In this study, how the desire factor that is tried to be evoked in television commercials is processed in the commercials. The relationship between the interest levels of consumers' gender identities and socioeconomic status levels regarding advertisements and the effect of these concepts on the shaping of consumption culture is discussed in scale.

There has been an increase of adapted tobacco control media campaigns in low- and middle-income countries. Adapting existing material offers many benefits especially to countries with limited resources. We adapted 3 television advertisements for the Tu’u Nei Loa Le Ulaula Tapa’a (Stop Smoking Now) campaign in Samoa. Adaption included rigorous efforts to ensure advertisements were culturally appropriate. To determine audiences’ perception of anti-tobacco television advertisements to promote smoking cessation, we conducted 8 talanoa, a Pacific Islands research methodology, among 54 smokers and nonsmokers in Apia, Samoa. The talanoa were transcribed, translated, and thematically coded. Results suggest that the advertisements raised awareness on the negative health impacts of tobacco use, especially to the internal organs. Graphic and emotionally evocative advertisements, especially those that have an impact on the family, have greater potential to motivate Samoans to quit.
