We give an overview of results for the quenched glueball spectrum from two-body bound state equations based on the 3PI effective action. The setup, which uses self-consistently calculated two- and three-point functions as input, is completely self-contained and does not have any free parameters except for the coupling. The results for JPC = 0±+, 2±+, 3±+, 4±+ are in good agreement with recent lattice results where available. For the pseudoscalar glueball, we present first results from a two-loop complete calculation, rendering also the bound state calculation fully self-consistent.

In this work, we introduce a general method to deduce spectral functional equations in elasticity and thus, the generalized Wiener–Hopf equations (GWHEs), for the wave motion in angular regions filled by arbitrary linear homogeneous media and illuminated by sources localized at infinity. The work extends the methodology used in electromagnetic applications and proposes for the first time a complete theory to get the GWHEs in elasticity. In particular, we introduce a vector differential equation of first-order characterized by a matrix that depends on the medium filling the angular region. The functional equations are easily obtained by a projection of the reciprocal vectors of this matrix on the elastic field present on the faces of the angular region. The application of the boundary conditions to the functional equations yields GWHEs for practical problems. This paper extends and applies the general theory to the challenging canonical problem of elastic scattering in angular regions.

Since the very first paper of J. Bernoulli in 1728, a connection exists between initial boundary value problems for hyperbolic Partial Differential Equations (PDE) in the plane (with a single space coordinate accounting for wave propagation) and some associated Functional Equations (FE). From the point of view of dynamics and control (to be specific, of dynamics for control) both type of equations generate dynamical and controlled dynamical systems. The functional equations may be difference equations (in continuous time), delay-differential (mostly of neutral type) or even integral/integro-differential. It is possible to discuss dynamics and control either for PDE or FE since both may be viewed as self contained mathematical objects. A more recent topic is control of systems displaying conservation laws. Conservation laws are described by  nonlinear hyperbolic PDE belonging to the class ``lossless'' (conservative); their dynamics and control theory is well served by the associated energy integral. It is however not without interest to discuss association of some FE. Lossless implies usually distortionless propagation hence one would expect here also lumped time delays. The paper contains some illustrating applications from various fields: nuclear reactors with circulating fuel, canal flows control, overhead crane, drilling devices, without forgetting the standard classical example of the nonhomogeneous transmission lines for distortionless and lossless propagation. Specific features of the control models are discussed in connection with the control approach wherever it applies.

In this paper, the efficient combined method based on the homotopy perturbation Sadik transform method  (HPSTM) is applied to solve the physical and functional equations containing the Caputo–Prabhakar fractional derivative. The mathematical model of this equation of order μ ∈ 0,1 with λ ∈ ℤ + , θ , σ ∈ ℝ + is presented as follows: D t μ C u x , t + θ u λ x , t u x x , t − σ u x x t x , t = 0 , where for λ = 1 , θ = 1 , σ = 1 s and λ = 2 , θ = 3 , σ = 1 , equations are changed into the equal width and modified equal width equations, respectively. The analytical method which we have used for solving this equation is based on a combination of the homotopy perturbation method and Sadik transform. The convergence and error analysis are discussed in this article. Plots of the analytical results with three examples are presented to show the applicability of this numerical method. Comparison between the obtained absolute errors by the suggested method and other methods is demonstrated.

In this paper, we consider a class of functional equation Q(λ)Y (λ) −P(λ)Z(λ) = η related to sine type functions, where the known P,Q are appropriate entire functions of exponential type. We are concerned with the existence and uniqueness of the solution (Y,Z) under certain circumstances. Furthermore, we modify the Lagrange interpolation to deal with the situation of the interpolation nodes being counted by multiplicities, which is significant to solve the above functional equation.

If a mapping can be expressed by sum of a septic mapping, a sextic mapping, a quintic mapping, a quartic mapping, a cubic mapping, a quadratic mapping, an additive mapping, and a constant mapping, we say that it is a general septic mapping. A functional equation is said to be a general septic functional equation provided that each solution of that equation is a general septic mapping. In fact, there are a lot of ways to show the stability of functional equations, but by using the method of G a ˘ vruta, we examine the stability of general septic functional equation ∑ i = 0 8 C 8 i − 1 8 − i f x + i − 4 y = 0 which considered. The method of G a ˘ vruta as just mentioned was given in the reference Gavruta (1994).

I deal with an alienation problem for the system of two fundamental Cauchy functional equations with an unknown function f mapping a ring X into an integral domain Y and preserving binary operations of addition and multiplication, respectively. The resulting syzygies obtained by adding (resp. multiplying) these two equations side by side are discussed. The first of these two syzygies was first examined by Jean Dhombres in 1988 who proved that under some additional conditions concering the domain and range rings it forces f to be a ring homomorphism (alienation phenomenon). The novelty of the present paper is to look for sufficient conditions upon f solving the other syzygy to be alien.
