Abstract This study aimed to analyze the gap between visitors’ perception and expectation for better development of ecotourism potential in Bantimurung Bulusaraung National Park (BBNP). The gap analysis approach used a descriptive survey to 200 respondents selected by non-probability sampling in November 2018. Several ecotourism potentials assessed were accessibility, accommodation, cultural attractions, public facilities, human resources, information and natural attractions. The result showed that there is a higher expectation rather than perception of visitor in BBNP. The highest gap value was found in public facility [-1.71], while the lowest gap value was found in accessibility [-0.97]. Thus, public facility should be prioritized to develop in order to meet the visitor s’ expectation. In term of public facility, the highest gap value was found in communication facilities (telephone, fax, internet), while the lowest gap value was found in garbage dump and clean water availability. Therefore, the top priority to improve was the quality and quantity of communication facilities (telephone, fax, internet).

Garbage is matter which is serious enought to society especially in the main city. Increasing number of society will affect to increasing garbage either as resulted. Volume of garbage which al ways increase without measuring last process of garbage will appear many problems for example, leachate seepage. Leachate is a liquid waste resulted of biology decomposition. Leachate soaks to bottom groundwater will affect decreasing level of field water and allergy on the skin. The aim of this research is to know leahate accumulation and direct seepage arround landfill Sekoto. The method will be conducted by field research by geoelectric configuration diple-dipole. Firstly, the writter survey the location to know the condition of research. Then collected data with 5 line arround landfill Sekoto use resistivitymeter. The data will be process using software Res2dinv and Voxler. Software Res2dinv to show the leachate seepage base on resistivity rock value. Software Voxler is used to show direct seepage as 3 dimension. The research finding shows that lye had been permeated in the south of garbage-can with the leachate seepage reaching 6.79 meters. While, in the north of garbage-can, there was no leachate seepage found. In the west road of Garbage Dump and near to leachate waste pipe, it had been found the leachate seepage reaching 11.8 meters. In summary, the direction of leachate seepage in Garbage Dump is congruence with river flow and the distribution of leachate horizontally.

Nutrition installation at M. Th. Djaman Sanggau hospital was in charge of providing the food service needs of the patients. Nutritional installations as a place for storing, processing, serving, and distributing food, could attractted the presence of flies and pose a risk of contamination. Its location was close to the incinerator, morgue, and garbage dump. This study aimed to describe the flies density level in the Nutrition Installation of M. Th. Djaman Sanggau hospital. This research type was an observational study with a descriptive approach, which described the flies density level in the Nutrition Installation of M. Th. Djaman Sanggau hospital. Data collection was done by interview and observation. The data obtained were presented in tabular form, described, and explained in narrative form. From the study results, it was found that the flies density level in the Nutrition Installation of M. Th. Djaman Sanggau hospital was 1.13 tails per block grill with the results had met the requirements. The average measurement results for temperature figures were 28°C, humidity 75.8%, and lighting intensity 223.7 LuxIt was necessary to control the flies density level in the garbage dump container at M. Th. Djaman Sanggau hospital, by improving the sanitation and hygiene of those, spraying insecticides, and improving waste management. In addition, to reduce the density of flies in the nutrition installation of M. Th. Djaman Sanggau hospital, it was necessary to prevent access to flies by closing doors and windows, using fly barrier curtains, closing waste water disposal, and to improve sanitation hygiene

AbstractWe studied garbage consumption by Asian elephants at the Uddakandara garbage dump in southern Sri Lanka. Garbage at the dump was classified under six categories and quantified using a grid overlay. Elephants visiting the dump were individually identified by morphological criteria and items and quantities consumed by them were determined by focal animal sampling. Dung of elephants that did not consume garbage and those from the dump were compared quantitatively and dung constituents assessed by washing through three layered sieves. A total of 17 individual elephants visited the garbage dump during the study period, all of who were males. The observed sexual bias could be related to behavioural differences between the sexes. Elephants mostly consumed ‘fruits and vegetables’ and ‘prepared food’, possibly due to their higher palatability and nutritional value. Ingestion of polythene was incidental and associated with consuming prepared food. Proportions of the six categories in elephant diet and garbage piles were significantly different, indicating that elephants were highly selective when feeding. Elephant arrivals increased in response to unloading of garbage, suggesting attraction to fresh garbage. Dung analysis found that garbage consumption did not change the quantity and constituents of dung, except for the presence of anthropogenic items. As consumed anthropogenic items were regularly excreted, retention and obstruction of the alimentary tract are unlikely in elephants. Elephants feeding on garbage had better body condition than non-garbage consuming elephants, indicating that garbage provided better nutrition than natural food and was not detrimental to their health.

The improvement of urbanization level and the imperfection of waste treatment infrastructure have caused the problem that informal garbage dump become prominent problem in China. With the development of high resolution remote sensing images, the fast monitoring and management of informal garbage dumps become possible. The informal garbage dumps in Beijing are monitored by SPOT-6 image, and the rapid and accurate grasp of the number, position and size of the informal garbage dumps are identified by the establishment of the interpretation key using multivariate data. And then it is classified by the established interpretation key. Irregular garbage sites are uneven in shape and complex in composition, which leads to their atypical features in images. Visual interpretation and classification are more suitable for other methods.
