Suspended monorails are a common mode of transportation for materials and personnel in underground mines. The goal of the EU-funded project “Innovative High Efficiency Power System for Machines and Devices, Increasing the Level of Work Safety in Underground Mining Excavations (HEETII)” is to introduce a single-wire energy transmission system combined with a capacitive-coupling-based wireless transmission system to power the suspended tractor, along with a monitoring system that will monitor the energy network and additional environmental parameters of the mine. Additionally, the monitoring system acts as the wireless communication backbone, allowing for data transmission to surface headquarters, where the data are processed and logged in a central database. This enables operators to detect and take preemptive measures to prevent potential hazards in the mine, improving the overall efficiency of the energy transmission system. This paper describes the additional considerations required for electrical systems in underground mines with potentially explosive atmospheres, as well as the design of the energy transmission system and the monitoring system.

With the growth of nonlinear electrical equipment, power quality disturbances (PQDs) often appear in electrical systems. To solve this, a practical heuristic methodology for PQD detection and classification based on empirical wavelet transform has been proposed. By using a multiresolution analysis tool, empirical wavelet transform, the voltage waveform signal is decomposed into several sub-signals, and some potential features are extracted in the statistical method. To reduce the feature vector dimensions, the ReliefF algorithm is used for feature selection and optimized for dimensionality reduction, which reduces the complexity of system calculation while ensuring accuracy. Finally, a classifier based on support vector machines (SVM) was built, and with the ranked feature vectors’ input, the PQD can be recognized. The experimental results verify that the classification results achieved high accuracy, which confirms the properties and robustness of the proposed approach in noisy environments.

ABSTRACT: This article describes an algorithm for an adaptive distance protection in a sub-transmission system considering operating conditions with changes in the topology due to an abnormal condition, electrical failure or a natural disaster, includes the effect of adjacent generation in the distance relay protection zones, with the incorporation of renewable energies in mixed participation. Two scenarios are proposed, in the first case occurred a contingency, and the transmission systems changes the initial topology. Protections are automatically reparametrized. The second case includes the income of renewable energy generation in a specific point of power electrical Systems. Protections are automatically recalculated. The objective of an automatic coordination permit to operator to restore the sensitivity, selectivity and reliability the electrical protection system in the lowest time. Keywords: Adaptive distance relay, renewable energy, distance protection, infeed effect..)

Microbial fuel cell (MFC) technology is considered one of the renewable sources of energy for the production of bioelectricity from waste. Due to the depletion of fossil fuels and environmental considerations, MFC haa garnered increasing importance as it is a sustainable and environmentally-friendly method of generation of bioenergy. In MFC, electroactive bacteria (EAB) and biofilms are harnessed to convert organic substances to electrical energy. Extremophiles survive in extreme environments, and they have demonstrated potential applications in microbial electrical systems (MES) and MFC technology. The key limitations of MFC are the low power output and engineering constraints of the fuel cell. Hence, it is imperative to understand the genetics, key metabolic pathways, and molecular mechanisms of the EAB for enhancing the power generation in MFC. This chapter gives a brief overview of the scope and applications of extremophiles in wastewater treatment, bioelectricity, and biohydrogen production using MFC, eventually enhancing the functional efficiency of MFC.

All of us are aware that the modern mechanical and electrical systems in collaboration with AI, CPS, and IoT have affected our lives drastically. At one end, they have provided ease and comfort. On the other end, the electrical and magnetic radiations emitted by them have threatened the mental and physical fitness. Surprisingly, the Asian Agnihotra process effectively reduces the electrical, magnetic radiations emitting from electronic devices. The chapter deals with the computational analysis of electrical, magnetic radiation, and power density measurement of environmental effects and gadgets after the Homa therapy. In the gap of a specific time, readings were recorded, and it was observed that drastic reduction occurred at the place where Yajna was performed. This gap was curtailed gradually as time increased. The phenomenon can undoubtedly be used to address human health threats due to electronic gadgets in the 21st century. Also, it supports the concepts of smart cities where one can quickly identify the numerous effects of the Yajna process.
