Abstract There was proposed a compact underwater energy generating device in which energy is produced by underwater currents and tidal phenomena on the Arctic coast for small settlements. These communities will be created to track ships sailing along the Northern Sea Route and to provide operational assistance if necessary. The idea of the technical proposal is structurally distinctive, the device is carried out of a set of conventional pipes of a certain diameter with a fairly wide bell (funnel), horizontally mounted towards the underwater current. This idea is quietly new for Russia, and it’s learned not very well. Calculation was provided in a new way on the basis of Propellers theory. In result there are shown table with calculated efficiency of our turbines with defined quantity of turbines in machine unit. Also we suppose that our approach is more accurate then results obtained with Betz’s formula as so as Betz’s formula doesn’t consider geometrical option of impeller.

Abstract Objective and reasonable evaluation is the basis of power-generating unit optimal operation, but evaluation method based on single weight can’t adapt to the high accuracy requirement of comprehensive evaluation. In order to achieve the accurate evaluation of power-generating unit operating reliability, this paper firstly calculates subjective weight and objective weight of target attribute by analytic hierarchy process method and entropy weight method. It calculates the associated weight of target attribute by grey relational degree method, and it obtains the linear combined weight by relaxation factor. Then, the power-generating unit operating reliability is evaluated by improved TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to an Ideal Solution), and the evaluation result is obtained. Finally, the relaxation factor is continuously evaluated from 0 to 1 to perform sensitivity analysis. This paper evaluates the operation reliability of nine wind turbines in a wind farm, and the evaluation result is closer to actual operation state of wind turbines. This method has high reliability and practical value, and it provides a new technical means for making a reasonable maintenance plan of wind turbines.

Abstract: In the present situation power becomes basic need for human life. Energy is responsible for major developments of any country’s economy. Conventional energy sources generate most of the energy of today’s world. But the population is increasing day by day and the conventional energy sources are diminishing. Moreover, these conventional energy sources are polluting and responsible for global warming. So, nonconventional sources are needed to be developed for power generation which are clean, environment friendly and sustainable. In this research we propose a renewable non-conventional energy source based on speed breaker mechanism. Our project is to enlighten the streets utilizing the jerking pressure which is wasted during the vehicles passes over speed breaker in roadside. We can tap the energy generated by moving vehicles and produce power by using the speed breaker as power generating unit. The kinetic energy of the moving vehicles can be converted into mechanical energy through rack and pinion mechanism and this mechanical energy will be converted to electrical energy using generator which will be used for lighting the street lights. Therefore, by using this mechanism we can save lot of energy which can fulfill our future demands. Keywords: kinetic energy, speed breaker, rack & pinion, generator, non-conventional energy, street light.
