Abstract Carp breeding in Western Siberia has been going on for about 1960. Here two breeds of Sarboyan and Altai mirror carp were bred and put into economic use. The Sarboyan carp is a cross with 1/8 of the blood of the Amur carp. The Sarboyan carp has now disappeared in the fish farm, there are its descendants who have not been subjected to selection for 4 generations. To work on the selection of a new intra-breed type, specimens corresponding to classes 1 and 2 were selected from the head reservoir of the fish farm. Specimens of class 1 accounted for 2.6% of all selected fish. The analysis of the exterior showed that as a result of the lack of selection and mating disorderly, the physique of the fish changed. It deviated and is closer to the wild Amur carp. In males, the length index increased by 21.30%, the body became longer and smaller. In females, the same changes are observed in exterior, in addition, there is a decrease in fertility, since in the studied population the correlation between progenity and fecundity is 0.42-0.72. The relative growth of the main exterior features has decreased.

Regions of interest (ROI) representative of the visual texture of images of mirror carp Cyprinus carpio carpio and scaled carp Cyprinus carpio were taken. Red, green, blue and grayscale (R, G, B, GS) histograms of these ROI were calculated. The following methods of visual texture calculations were performed on the ROIs: 1) image energy based on histograms, 2) image entropy based on histograms, 3) image energy based on co-occurrence matrices, 4) image entropy based on co-occurrence matrices, 5) texture based on fractal dimensions, 6) texture based on texture primitives method. Calculations were performed for color and grayscale images. The identification of the smoothest and roughest ROIs depended on the method used. The largest range between the minimum and maximum values was found in the co-occurrence matrix-based entropy calculation. A close second was the texture change index (TCI) method.

This study was carried out to determine some metric and meristic characteristics of the Cyprinus carpio population captured from Özlüce Dam Lake at different times. For this purpose, the average, maximum, minimum, standard deviation, standard error and the coefficients of variation of 47 metric measurements and their ratio to each other belong to 60 scale and mirror carp samples captured from the dam lake are calculated. At the same time, 8 meristic features (the number of scales in the lateral line, the number of transversal scales, the number of spines in the first gill arch, the row and number of pharyngeal teeth and the number of simple and soft rays in the dorsal, ventral, pectoral and anal fins) were examined.
