Abstract We present, for the first time, the complete off-shell 4D,$$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 2 superfield actions for any free massless integer spin s ≥ 2 fields, using the $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 2 harmonic super-space approach. The relevant gauge supermultiplet is accommodated by two real analytic bosonic superfields $$ {h}_{\alpha \left(s-1\right)\dot{\alpha}\left(s-1\right)}^{++} $$ h α s − 1 α ̇ s − 1 + + , $$ {h}_{\alpha \left(s-2\right)\dot{\alpha}\left(s-2\right)}^{++} $$ h α s − 2 α ̇ s − 2 + + and two conjugated complex analytic spinor superfields $$ {h}_{\alpha \left(s-1\right)\dot{\alpha}\left(s-1\right)}^{+3} $$ h α s − 1 α ̇ s − 1 + 3 , $$ {h}_{\alpha \left(s-2\right)\dot{\alpha}\left(s-1\right)}^{+3} $$ h α s − 2 α ̇ s − 1 + 3 , where α(s) := (α1. . . αs),$$ \dot{\alpha} $$ α ̇ (s) := ($$ \dot{\alpha} $$ α ̇ 1. . .$$ \dot{\alpha} $$ α ̇ s). Like in the harmonic superspace formulations of $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 2 Maxwell and supergravity theories, an infinite number of original off-shell degrees of freedom is reduced to the finite set (in WZ-type gauge) due to an infinite number of the component gauge parameters in the analytic superfield parameters. On shell, the standard spin content (s,s−1/2,s−1/2,s−1) is restored. For s = 2 the action describes the linearized version of “minimal” $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 2 Einstein supergravity.

Abstract Massive arbitrary spin supermultiplets and massless (scalar and spin one-half) supermultiplets of the N = 2 Poincaré superalgebra in three-dimensional flat space are considered. Both the integer spin and half-integer spin supermultiplets are studied. For such massive and massless supermultiplets, a formulation in terms of light-cone gauge unconstrained superfields defined in a momentum superspace is developed. For the supermultiplets under consideration a superspace first derivative representation for all cubic interaction vertices is obtained. A superspace representation for dynamical generators of the N = 2 Poincaré superalgebra is also found.

Abstract We construct an unfolded system for off-shell fields of arbitrary integer spin in 4d anti-de Sitter space. To this end we couple an on-shell system, encoding Fronsdal equations, to external Fronsdal currents for which we find an unfolded formulation. We present a reduction of the Fronsdal current system which brings it to the unfolded Fierz-Pauli system describing massive fields of arbitrary integer spin. Reformulating off-shell higher-spin system as the set of Schwinger–Dyson equations we compute propagators of higher-spin fields in the de Donder gauge directly from the unfolded equations. We discover operators that significantly simplify this computation, allowing a straightforward extraction of wave equations from an unfolded system.

Abstract In this paper we propose a lattice insertion for the Nuclotron ring called a “spin navigator” that can adjust any direction of the proton polarization in the orbital plane using weak solenoids. The polarization control is realized in the spin transparency mode at the energy of 108 MeV, which corresponds to the integer spin resonance γ G = 2. The requirements on the navigator solenoid fields are specified considering the criteria for stability of the spin motion during any manipulation of the polarization direction in an experiment. The paper presents the results of numerical modeling of the proton spin dynamics in the Nuclotron ring operated in the spin transparency mode. The verified spin navigator is aimed at an experimental study of a spin-flipping system using the Nuclotron ring. The results are relevant to the NICA (JINR), EIC (BNL) and COSY (FZJ) facilities where the spin transparency mode can be applied for polarization control.

Abstract We study the manifestly covariant and local 1-loop path integrals on Sd+1 for general massive, shift-symmetric and (partially) massless totally symmetric tensor fields of arbitrary spin s ≥ 0 in any dimensions d ≥ 2. After reviewing the cases of massless fields with spin s = 1, 2, we provide a detailed derivation for path integrals of massless fields of arbitrary integer spins s ≥ 1. Following the standard procedure of Wick-rotating the negative conformal modes, we find a higher spin analog of Polchinski’s phase for any integer spin s ≥ 2. The derivations for low-spin (s = 0, 1, 2) massive, shift-symmetric and partially massless fields are also carried out explicitly. Finally, we provide general prescriptions for general massive and shift-symmetric fields of arbitrary integer spins and partially massless fields of arbitrary integer spins and depths.

Polar magnetic materials exhibiting appreciable asymmetric exchange interactions can potentially host new topological states of matter such as vortex-like spin textures; however, realizations have been mostly limited to half-integer spins due to rare numbers of integer spin systems with broken spatial inversion lattice symmetries. Here, we studied the structure and magnetic properties of the S = 1 integer spin polar magnet β-Ni(IO3)2 (Ni2+, d8, 3F). We synthesized single crystals and bulk polycrystalline samples of β-Ni(IO3)2 by combining low-temperature chemistry techniques and thermal analysis and characterized its crystal structure and physical properties. Single crystal X-ray and powder X-ray diffraction measurements demonstrated that β-Ni(IO3)2 crystallizes in the noncentrosymmetric polar monoclinic structure with space group P21. The combination of the macroscopic electric polarization driven by the coalignment of the (IO3)− trigonal pyramids along the b axis and the S = 1 state of the Ni2+ cation was chosen to investigate integer spin and lattice dynamics in magnetism. The effective magnetic moment of Ni2+ was extracted from magnetization measurements to be 3.2(1) µB, confirming the S = 1 integer spin state of Ni2+ with some orbital contribution. β-Ni(IO3)2 undergoes a magnetic ordering at T = 3 K at a low magnetic field, μ0H = 0.1 T; the phase transition, nevertheless, is suppressed at a higher field, μ0H = 3 T. An anomaly resembling a phase transition is observed at T ≈ 2.7 K in the Cp/T vs. T plot, which is the approximate temperature of the magnetic phase transition of the material, indicating that the transition is magnetically driven. This work offers a useful route for exploring integer spin noncentrosymmetric materials, broadening the phase space of polar magnet candidates, which can harbor new topological spin physics.

Abstract We study a holographic construction of conformal blocks in the Regge limit of four-point scalar correlation functions by using coordinates of the two-sided Rindler-AdS black hole. As a generalization of geodesic Witten diagrams, we construct diagrams with four external scalar fields in the Rindler-AdS black hole by integrating over two half-geodesics between the centers of Penrose diagrams and points at the AdS boundary. We demonstrate that late-time behaviors of the diagrams coincide with the Regge behaviors of conformal blocks. We also point out their relevance with the pole-skipping phenomena by showing that the near-horizon analysis of symmetric traceless fields with any integer spin in the Rindler-AdS black hole can capture the Regge behaviors of conformal blocks.

In this paper, we present a complete proof of the so-called First On-Shell Theorem that determines dynamical content of the unfolded equations for free symmetric massless fields of arbitrary integer spin in any dimension and arbitrary integer or half-integer spin in four dimensions. This is achieved by calculation of the respective σ− cohomology both in the tensor language in Minkowski space of any dimension and in terms of spinors in AdS4. In the d-dimensional case Hp(σ−) is computed for any p and interpretation of Hp(σ−) is given both for the original Fronsdal system and for the associated systems of higher form fields.
