Problem solving is a very important skill in mathematics that students need to master. These skills require logical thinking, deep understanding, mastery of concepts and making connections with existing knowledge. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of graphic management -based mathematics teaching in problem-solving topics. This study uses a qualitative research approach with a case study design involving one study participant. Participants of the study were randomly selected among year 3 students with a moderate level of Mathematics proficiency. To collect data, graphic management of “Four Corners and A Diamond” and semi -structured interview sessions were conducted. Data collection from graphics management was analyzed descriptively and these interviews were analyzed inductively to obtain specific themes based on the transcripts. Findings of the study show that with this graphic management, students can organize information from questions in the form of appropriate graphics and facilitate their understanding. The implication of this study is that students can solve mathematical problems through the arrangement of information correctly based on the graphic management of "Four Corners and A Diamond". This study can also encourage teachers to use graphic management in helping students to solve non-routine mathematics problems more conceptually.

To efficiently fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, a sterilisation module using 265 nm UVC LED packages was developed. In this paper, the performance of the sterilisation module in terms of irradiance uniformity, junction temperature increase and sterilisation efficiency were characterised. The irradiance uniformity fluctuation across the four corners and the centre point in a 130 mm × 130 mm area was below 10%, exhibiting good uniformity. Uniform irradiance was important to achieve consistent sterilisation, which was the primary difference between the UVC LED package developed and commercial UVC LED packages. Key to achieving uniform irradiance was the structure, consisting of a stacked silicon reflector and a secondary optical lens designed by ray tracing simulation. The junction temperature increase of the 265 nm UVC LED package driving at 200 mA was only 28°C, sufficiently low to exhibit better reliability and performance. A 99.99% sterilisation efficiency on E. coli bacteria was achieved within one minute with UV dosage of 2.7 mJ/cm2 at 200 mA driving current. From the results, the novel 265 nm UVC LED package was a time-efficient solution for disinfection purposes.

Abstract In the spring of 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic rapidly spread through the four corners of the world, Christian Orthodox churches were caught in the age-old altercation with science. Tensions condensed around a small material object—the communion spoon—and its potential to transmit the virus. The article examines the ensuing Eucharist-related debates between ‘liberal secularists’ and followers of the Orthodox Church of Georgia: namely, the former’s selective juxtaposition of abstract ‘faith’ against religious practice due to the latter’s alleged incongruity with modernity. The goal of this article is to illuminate the underlying discourse behind these accusations, which in turn draws on the notion of ‘modern religiosity’ informed by post-Reformation ideals.

The study was carried out at the poultry unit of the Department of Animal Science teaching and research farm, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria to determine the Chemical and Microbial Analysis of Poultry Litter Treated with Graded Levels of Aluminium sulphate (Alum). The alum used was obtained from the Sabon-garimarket in Zaria, Kaduna State. Aluminium sulphate (alum) was applied to the wood shavings by mixing it with alum thoroughly using hands covered with hand gloves. The rates of alum application was as follows: T1 control (normal poultry litter with no alum), T2 (5% alum by kg weight of poultry litter), T3 (10% alum by kg weight of poultry litter) and T4 (15% alum by kg weight of poultry litter). Five sets of litter samples were obtained fortnightly from each pen from different locations i.e. the four corners and centre from which the microbial load were measured. At the termination of the experiment (day 56), two birds from each pen having representative weights for the group (6 birds per Treatment) were selected and 1.5ml of blood was taken via the wing vein. Haematological parameters were analyzed by an auto haemo-analyser (BC2800 vet auto haemo analyser) at the Clinical Pathology Laboratory, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. This result shows significant (P<0.05) difference among all the parameters analysed except MCHC. The result shows a significant decrease in the total bacteria, E. coliand Salmonella spp. in the alum treated litter groups (5%, 10% and 15% alum treated litter) compared to the control group (0% alum treated litter), the mould and yeast load was significantly increased in alum treated litter groups (5%, 10% and 15% alum treated litter) compared to the control group (0% alum treated litter).The study conclude that treating recycled poultry litter with alum can reduce microbial load of the litter. Birds reared on recycled poultry litter have significantly higher haemoglobin and PCV compared to the control.

Through three-dimensional nonlinear finite element analysis, the punching failure’s bearing mechanism of the independent foundation under column whose slab is the size of 0.8m×0.8m×0.3m is obtained. The transfer mechanism of the foundation is spatial strut-and-tie model, where the reinforcements located in the link ranges between each adjacent corner of the slab are represented by ties, and the concrete distributed in the link ranges from the column bottom to four corners of the slab bottom are represented by struts. The indication of punching failure is that the concrete at the two ends of the struts reaches the shear-compression failure strength, and the punching cone is punched out relative to the slab, which has distinct punching failure features. A new spatial strut-and-tie model composed of four ties and four struts is proposed on the basis of clear bearing mechanism, which provides a new idea for the calculation of the punching bearing capacity of the independent foundation under column.

This chapter details the production history and reception of Paul Hallam and Ron Peck’s film Nighthawks (1978), often recognized as a “classic” of British LGBTQ cinema. It centrally engages with Vito Russo’s suggestion that the film offered “a community reaction to itself.” Making the film was a lengthy undertaking: the chapter draws on Peck and Hallam’s archives to reconstruct its creation, and unpacks Peck’s involvement with the Four Corners collective and its influence on the content and form of Nighthawks. The film is situated in relation to key events in British queer history and the landscape of British filmmaking during the decade, as well as in relation to Richard Dyer’s landmark 1977 film season “Images of Homosexuality.” The film’s “sequel,” Strip Jack Naked (1991), is also explored as a partial atonement for Nighthawks’s omissions.

Linear Flux Switching Machines (LFSMs) possess the capability to generate adhesive thrust force, thus problems associated with conventional rotatory electric machines and mechanical conversion assemblies can be eliminated. Additionally, the unique features of high force/power density, efficiency, and a robust secondary structure make LFSMs a suitable candidate for linear motion applications. However, deficiency of controllable air-gap flux, risk of PM demagnetization, and increasing cost of rare earth PM materials in case of PMLFSMs, and inherent low thrust force capability of Field Excited LFSMs compels researchers to investigate new hybrid topologies. In this paper, a novel Double-Sided Hybrid Excited LFSM (DSHELFSM) with all three excitation sources, i.e., PMs, DC, and AC windings confined to short moving primary and segmented secondary providing short flux paths is designed, investigated, and optimized. Secondly, unequal primary tooth width optimization and additional end-teeth at all four corners of the primary equip proposed design with balanced magnetic circuit and reduced end-effect and thrust force ripples. Thirdly, the measured experimental results of the manufactured proposed machine prototype are compared with corresponding simulated model results and shows good agreements, thus validating the theoretical study.

In the article „Building rituals of Gagauz people from Chok-Maidan village (Republic of Moldova)” on the ritual materials and mythological representations, collected by the author from this village, is made an attempt to reconstruct the Gagauz building rituals, to reveal their semantics and to show the role of dwelling in the system of Gagauz’ world perception. A characteristic feature of the building rituals of the Chok-Maidan village is the variety of types of sacrifice. Here, each stage of construction is marked by a certain type of sacrifice: when marking the corners of the future house, bread and salt are served, when laying the foundation, coins are walled up in all four corners, a rooster is slaughtered at the alleged threshold, live chickens are gifted at the four corners of the house before the roof is erected, and with the installation of rafters on a wooden cross and a green branch (cherry / walnut) they tie a towel and a shirt for the master, and the rest of the participants in the ceremony are given pieces of ritual bread with salt.

The UK Biobank project is a prospective cohort study with deep genetic and phenotypic data collected on almost 500,000 individuals from across the United Kingdom. Within this dataset, we carefully define 17 distinct ancestry groups from all four corners of the world. Using allele frequencies derived from these global reference groups, we are now able to effectively measure diversity from summary statistics of any genetic dataset. Measuring genetic diversity is an important problem because increasing genetic diversity is key to making new genetic discoveries, while also being a major source of confounding to be aware of in genetics studies.
