Objective: The objective of the study was to show the efficacy of teriparatide in comminuted fracture healing and improvement in overall functional recovery. Methods: A total of 30 subjects who suffered from comminuted fractures of lower limb were selected. Subjects were categorized into two groups: Group A (n=15) contained individuals with teriparatide administration and Group B (n=15) contained individuals who were not administered teriparatide. 20 mg of teriparatide was injected subcutaneously for a period of 3 months. Patients were followed up ay durations of 4, 8, and 12 weeks. Obtained data were entered into Microsoft Excel Worksheets and descriptive analysis was performed. Chi-square test was used to analyze all obtained data. Results: Among Group A patients, the fracture healing rates were found to be significantly earlier with comparison to control group (Group B). Conclusion: Teriparatide was observed to be effective in comminuted fracture healing and has demonstrated good clinical outcome.

Objective. To explore the postoperative complications of distal radius fractures and analyze the related factors that affect its prognosis. Methods. The clinical data of 50 patients with distal radius fractures admitted to our hospital from October 2016 to September 2019 were retrospectively analyzed. All patients were followed up for 6–12 months, and their postoperative complications were recorded. Collect general patient information and related clinical data. During the follow-up process, Gartland and Werley wrist function scoring system was used to evaluate the prognosis of patients’ joint function. Univariate analysis and multiple logistic regression models were used to analyze the related factors that affected the prognosis of patients. Results. 15 patients with postoperative complications were found during the follow-up period, with an incidence rate of 30.00%. Univariate analysis showed that the patient’s age, cause of injury, AO classification, shortened deformity, whether it was osteoporosis, surgical method, whether it was combined with other fractures on the same side, whether it was comminuted fracture, and the time to start postoperative exercise were all related to the distal radius. The prognosis of fractures is related ( P < 0.05 ). Multivariate logistic analysis showed that age, AO classification, surgical method, whether it was combined with other fractures on the same side, whether it was comminuted fracture, and the time to start postoperative exercise were the independent factors affecting the prognosis of distal radius fractures ( P < 0.05 ). Conclusion. The postoperative complications of distal radius fractures are higher. The prognosis is related to the patient’s age, AO classification, surgical method, whether it is combined with other fractures on the same side, whether it is comminuted fracture, and the time to start postoperative exercise. Therefore, choosing an appropriate surgical method and starting exercise in time can effectively improve the recovery of the patient’s wrist function and reduce the occurrence of complications.

Introduction: Patellar injuries are usually caused while a person slips or falls on a flexed knee and when the forces from the extensors surpass the inherent strength of patella. As the bony failure advances, it concurs or follows injury to medial and lateral extensions of quadriceps mechanism. This happens by pulling mechanism of the muscles. The patient is unable to extend the affected knee actively. This is indicative of disruption of the extensor mechanism and a torn retinaculum. This requires repair or reconstruction through operative means. Case Presentation: To find out complications of comminuted fracture of patella and open reduction after 15 years of surgery. Case Report: A 32-year-old man had a history of fall on ground due to slipping of the wheelchair over wet floor while taking a patient on wheelchair which led to comminuted fracture of left patella with shift knee and had undergone Open reduction and Tension band Osteosynthesis. After this surgical intervention, the patient presented with knee stiffness and pain (rated 6 on numerical pain rating scale) and was referred to physiotherapy. Conclusion: This case study concluded that there is evident stiffness and muscle wasting observed after 15 years of post-fracture surgery of patella, which was managed with the physiotherapeutic rehabilitations.

Introduction: This case report describes the reconstruction of a severe comminuted fracture and bone defect in the lateral half of the clavicle using a novel titanium prosthesis. This unique prosthesis has been specifically designed and three dimensionally printed for the clavicle, as opposed to the Oklahoma cemented composite prosthesis used in common practice. The aims of this study were to: (1) describe the prosthesis, its stress analysis, and its surgical fixation and (2) to demonstrate the results of the 2-year follow-up of the patient with the lateral clavicle prosthesis.Patient's Main Concerns: A 20-year-old, right-handed woman complaining of severe pain in the right shoulder was admitted to our hospital following a traffic accident. Physical examination revealed pain, swelling, tenderness, limb weakness, asymmetric posturing, and loss of function in the right shoulder.Diagnosis, Intervention, and Outcomes: Radiographic evaluation in the emergency room showed complete destruction with a comminuted fracture of the lateral half of the right clavicle and a comminuted fracture of the coracoid. We designed a new prosthesis for the lateral half of the clavicle, which was then tested by finite element analysis and implanted. Use of the new prosthesis was effective in the reconstruction of the comminuted fracture in the lateral half of the clavicle. After 2 years of follow-up, the patient had an aesthetically acceptable curve and was able to perform her activities of daily living. Her pain was relieved, and the disabilities of the arm, shoulder, and hand score improved. Active range of motion of the shoulder joint and muscle strength were also improved.Conclusion: This novel prosthesis is recommended for reconstruction of the lateral half of the clavicle following development of bony defects due to fracture. Our patient achieved functional and aesthetic satisfaction with this prosthesis.
