The development of culinary business at Culinary Tourism Centre (CTC) has produced domestic wastewater from dish washing activities and food residues. One CTC in Tambaksari District, Surabaya City has not had Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) yet. The CTC only has equalization tank for accommodating wastewater before discharged into the water body. This research aimed to determine the characteristics of domestic wastewater from the CTC and to design the appropriate WWTP in the CTC. The standard was based on the Regulation of the East Java Governor Number 72 Year 2013. The result showed that the concentrations of TSS, grease and oil, BOD, COD were 14 mg/L, 1.59 mg/L, 1154.8 mg/L, and 2054.8 mg/L, respectively. The WWTP units consisted of a grease trap, an equalization tank, primary sedimentation tank, anaerobic tank, aerobic tank, and secondary sedimentation tank. The estimated cost to build the WWTP was IDR 278,093,774.

Abstract In this research an electrochemical technique in combination with powdered activated carbon (PAC) for the removal of micropollutants by adsorption as an advanced stage purification step from effluents of pilot plant wastewater treatment plants (WWTP). The effluents of sedimentation tank comprised of wastewater plus PAC (WWPAC). The pilot plant mainly consists of two parts; the first one consists of electrocoagulation (EC) reactor and the second consists of electrophoretic deposition (EPD) discs and electroflotation (EF) setup. The electrocoagulation (EC) reactor is a fiber box consisting of two chambers and thirty four plates of one material (either Fe or Al) on the whole in one EC reactor while one cell has seventeen plates. Both types of electrodes have been tested with the outflow of sedimentation tank. The outflow from the sedimentation tank has been entered into the EC reactor for the determination of EC reactor efficacy for the successful accomplishment of EC process at the designed pilot plant for WW treatment. The effect of different operational parameters; PAC dosage (20 mg), electrode nature (Fe and Al), current density (0.34–2.02 A/m2) has been studied to find out the optimum conditions. Sludge volume index (SVI) of the sludge, thermogravimetric (TG), differential thermal analyses (DTA) and particle size distribution (PSD) of the flocs generated after the EC process has also been studied. The turbidity, pH and conductivity of effluents before and after EC treatment has also been carried out. This pilot plant research gave promising results for future work in advance wastewater treatment direction.

The article analyzes the dynamics of channel processes in the irrigation pumping station inlet channels. The field studies of hydraulic and alluvial sediment regimes in the supply channels of pumping stations are analyzed and summarized. The studies of supply channel water flow under conditions of extremely high turbidity of the flow and variability of the morphometric characteristics of the channel are presented. The conditions under which the Saint-Venant equations satisfactorily describe the channel flows in the bed of the supply channels are given. Saint-Venant's twodimensional equations were numerically implemented using an explicit finite-difference scheme. In addition, the results of calculations of the flow field in the supply channels are presented. According to the results of numerical studies, the width of the sedimentation tank was taken to be equal to the design width of the channel, and the speed of water flow in it was 0.25 m/s. The length of the sedimentation tank, ensuring the retention of sediments of the finest fraction (0.05 mm in diameter), was 1042 m. The siltation time of the sedimentation tank can be reduced by 15…20% and amount to about 15 months, considering the unevenness of the velocity distribution diagram in the horizontal plane and the trapezoidal crosssection of the clarifier. Nevertheless, the arrangement of two parallel chambers of the sedimentation tanks makes it possible to be stable for a sufficiently long time.

At the outlet of the Vermicelli catchment—a peri-urban area located in the campus of University of Calabria (Cosenza, Southern Italy)—a sedimentation tank is located, aiming at collecting the basin surface runoff and improve its quality. First, experimental results of the treatment effects are here presented and analyzed. In addition, a monitoring campaign was conducted in order to characterize the particles transported by surface runoff and to determine the treatment efficiency of the tank. The analysis showed the presence of a pollutant load in the surface runoff of the Vermicelli basin and provided information on its particle-size distribution (PSD). Results were considered in terms of the treatment efficiency of the sedimentation tank, showing a good overall removal efficiency value, together with a high variability of the removal sedimentation efficiency. This variability is mainly due to the different grain size of the suspended solids and the characteristics of the rainfall event.
