This study aimed to investigate the impact of the mindfulness-based interventions program on the quality of life of patients with Multiple Sclerosis. A systematic review was carried out based on the PRISMA guidelines (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyzes). For an updated perspective on the topic, the selected articles were published from March 2014 to March 2019. Thus, 10 articles were included in the review and were thoroughly compared. A detailed assessment was carried out to measure the impact of the mindfulness protocol both on the general quality of life and on its specific domains. It can be observed that there is some homogeneity of the results regarding the benefits of the practice of mindfulness in the patients’ general quality of life. Moreover, there was greater evidence of the effects of meditative practice on the psychological domain when compared to the physical domain. Hence, the present study considers the mindfulness program a viable tool to address quality of life in patients with Multiple Sclerosis. The lack of Brazilian studies in the area is highlighted. Also, further studies to evaluate the practice of mindfulness continuously, such as cohort studies, are necessary to elucidate the long-term effects of the protocol.

As Brazil emerges as a significant and influential country in the global arena, studies related to Brazil have drawn keen scholarly interests from a number of fields of study. In this regard, “Brazilian Studies” has grown considerably in the last several decades and has solid representation in most disciplines, particularly in the social sciences and humanities. In South Korea, Brazilian Studies has also become a competitive and promising discipline through the effort of pioneer Korean brazilianists, yet less lively compared to Brazilian Studies in the United States and other European countries that have guided this field. Employing web-based methods, including online-based searching, and bibliographical analysis based on the data collected by DBpia, this study aims to introduce and examine the issues, trends and current state of Brazilian Studies education and research in South Korea, particularly focusing on the social sciences and humanities.

Abstract Objectives: reviewing the available literature on COVID-19 infection and the maternal and perinatal outcomes. Methods: this is a narrative review of the literature carried out from March to September 2020, usingthe MESH: coronavirus, Covid 19, SARS-CoV-2, pregnancy, gravidity, pregnancy complications and pregnancy complications infectius. All study designs, reviews, recommendations and technical notes were included, without distinction of language and that would bring the approach of the new coronavirus in the gestational and perinatal scenario. Results: the COVID-19 pandemic has had devastating effects, affecting millions of people and claiming almost a million lives worldwide. Initially, pregnant women were not seen as a risk group for the disease, however as the proportion of women affected during the pregnancy-puerperal cycle increased, several studies were published showing an increased risk of complications. Brazilian studies have also warned of a high number of maternal deaths, associated with the presence of comorbidities but, above all, with the social determinants of the disease and serious failures in care. Conclusion: the need for new studies with an adequate research design was observed, as many studies are only letters or small series of cases, in addition expert recommendations, without the necessary scientific rigor.

Abstract Tradeoff analysis, between generalizability, precision, and realism, guides methodological choices in organizational behavior. These methodological choices were systematically reviewed in Brazilian articles and books (1996-2017) to answer the following question: why are there no Brazilian studies on organizational behavior that use big data or analytics? Among 1062 research articles on organizational behavior, published in 19 psychology and business journals, 68% used scales, and only 10% used observation. Observation was often unstructured and supported other methods. The focus was on “saying,” instead of “doing”. Big data and analytics have the potential to simultaneously reach generalizability, precision, and realism and may pave the way for new conclusions. Additionally, these methods could transform research in organizational behavior.

Abstract This systematic review update aimed to search for new evidences about parent-child physical activity among Brazilian studies. A new literature search for Brazilian studies published until 31 December 2019 was performed in the databases Medline, Embase, Cinahl, Lilacs, Sport Discus, and SciELO by the combination of descriptors regarding children and adolescents, physical activity, and parental support, restricted to English and Portuguese language. As result, only one new study were included besides those from previous review which corroborated with previous findings about positive relationship of parent-child physical activity. The included studies (n=14) were presented according to geographical distribution, year of publication, research design and physical activity assessment method. Limitations and future directions about specific physical activity domains and weekly amount, as well as peers and environmental support were highlighted. This review findings reinforced that parental lifestyle behavior is an important factor for active lifestyle promotion among Brazilian children and adolescents.
