"Both Lydie Salvayre and Kamel Daoud, writers foreign by their social and geographical origins to the Parisian art sphere, relate a similar experience: a night spent alone in the museum amid works by Giacometti and Picasso. This confrontation, through unsimilar inner journeys, reveals their skewed, complex and changing identity as socially (split), intimate (traumatized) and artistic (marginal) being. Their identity is revealed through the encounter with the images of paintings and sculptures."

Parulskis and Stasiuk had a similar experience, which can be found in the prose debuts of both writers. They encountered extremely brutal reality of military barracks and prison. This article discuss in what way these experiences that formed young artisz have been transposed into their literature – what are their representations in Parulskis’s Three Seconds of Heaven (Trys sekundės dangaus) and Stasiuk’s short stories collection The Walls of Hebron (Mury Hebronu). The comparison of these works serves to show how personal experiences of the authors are exploited and processed in texts, and to find out how above mentioned Lithuanian and Polish works are related.

The article attempts to concretize the essence of the two aesthetically polar staging approaches — theatrical and non-theatrical (performative) — in the context of the choreographic art development. The author suggests that the basis for separating these approaches can be some peculiarities in the ways they interpret such fundamental concepts as “actor”, “role”, “spectator”, “drama”, “action”, “conflict”, which, in a choreographic performance, are in certain relationships determined by cultural traditions, and in a non-theatrical production, they are transformed up to their disappearance. A similar experience of separating a theater and a non-theater on the basis of the presence of an actor, a role, a spectator and an hierarchy between them is proposed in theater studies. However, in choreographic (including ballet) performances, the content of the role is closely linked with the music and is often determined by the emotional background and musical dramaturgy. In the case of a radical departure from the composer’s intention, turning to a different starting point for the composition, the specificity of the choreographic (ballet) performance is destroyed. Borrowings from non-theatrical art are showed in the construction of meanings when working with intrinsic body movement, as well as in the reliance on interdisciplinarity. Within a single line of choreographic art, there is a whole spectrum of ideas that interpret the concepts of “theatricality”, “non-theatricality”, “drama”, and “performativity” in different ways. On what basis to classify them in order to reduce them to a consistent system is a difficult question. The article attempts to outline the foundation for future classification. The relevance of this topic is caused by the insufficient elaboration of the conceptual base in the specialized literature on choreographic art.

AbstractVirtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) applications are very diffuse nowadays. Moreover, recent technology innovations led to the diffusion of commercial head-mounted displays for immersive VR: users can enjoy entertainment activities that fill their visual fields, experiencing the sensation of physical presence in these virtual immersive environments. Even if AR and VR are mostly used separately, they can be effectively combined to provide a multi-user shared environment (SE), where two or more users perform some specific tasks in a cooperative or competitive way, providing a wider set of interactions and use cases compared to immersive VR alone. However, due to the differences between the two technologies, it is difficult to develop SEs offering a similar experience for both AR and VR users. This paper presents Harmonize, a novel framework to deploy applications based on SEs with a comparable experience for both AR and VR users. Moreover, the framework is hardware-independent, and it has been designed to be as much extendable to novel hardware as possible. An immersive game has been designed to test and to evaluate the validity of the proposed framework. The assessment of the system through the System Usability Scale questionnaire and the Game Experience Questionnaire shows a positive evaluation.

While the notion of theopoetic is modern, the concept existed long before the term was coined by twentieth-century theologians. Chapter 1 introduces in detail John of the Cross’s notion of gustar a Dios (to savor God) and the Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇava concept of madhura bhakti rasa—“the sweet savor of divine love”—as analogous models of theopoetic. Each of these sixteenth-century theologians deploys the term “savoring” within his own context, and does so toward two ends: to describe the all-encompassing relationship between the person and the divine illustrated in the poetry; and to prescribe a mode of interpreting the verses that leads readers into a similar experience. In both cases, the poems’ commentaries not only explain the theological meaning of the poems but also recreate their metaphorical language. This use of poetry to communicate theological meaning is identified as the practice of theopoetic. The first chapter closes with an elucidation of the book’s methodology.

Adoption is considered a lifelong process for those involved in it. In this vein, adoptees’ lives seem to be impacted by their origins and every experience that occurred before their adoption. The aim of this study is to explore adult adoptees’ experience with respect to their adoptive condition, communication about origins, and search for their origins. In this study, 11 adult adoptees took part, 10 women and one man aged between 18 and 26 years. Interviews were conducted to examine participants’ experiences, which were subsequently analyzed following interpretative phenomenological analysis. Results showed that most of the participants experience an open communication about origins and adoption with their parents and their environment. However, participants pointed to the existence of some limits in such communication. Participants noted a similar experience with respect to search. Based on the results, future studies should focus on the study of adoption in different stages of adulthood.

Discretionary trading is an investment that a stockbroker executes using clients’ account which is done without getting specific approval from the client on decision whether to buy or sell the stock holding in the portfolio. The investment is conducted based on the experience and strategies made by the person in charge of the investment. The objective of this research is to study the existing policies and procedures of discretionary trading in the market, determine the shariah compliance of current practice of market discretionary trading, and formulate suitable shariah parameters for discretionary trading of Islamic securities. This research employs qualitative methodology. The finding related for this topic is limited as the researcher is the main findings. From the researcher findings, it is found that the respondents shared almost similar experience, but it is expressed in different ways. Besides, the priority of shariah compliant discretionary trading is highly important to the Muslim investors as it can be alternatives for them to grow their capital and the practice of discretionary trading in each stockbroker is different from the others due to the flexibility of the current guideline. It is anticipated that the findings of research will assist future researcher to develop and formulate better variables for Islamic discretionary trading.

Using a variety of sources – photographs, poems, fragments of a diary and family memories – in his collection of short stories The Mother Departs Tadeusz Różewicz presents a complex portrait of his mother as a young girl, a caring mother, a mature woman and a dying old woman. The image of his mother, memorized and documented through a range literary means, emerges as a version of the myth of Magna Mater. The poet also tries to imagine his mother after death, whether she is a decomposing corpse under the ground or a spirit in the land of the dead. The stories can be treated as a literary attempt at dealing with profound grief and going through mourning. It is not only the grief and mourning of the writer but also of the reader who shares a similar experience. The memories gathered in the collection The Mother Departs have a therapeutic signifi cance, they enable liberation from trauma and constitute a frame for an eternal portrait of the mother. It is art that provides the possibility of preserving something for posterity and of immortalizing people and their work.

PURPOSE: This study aimed to identify the needs and priorities of parents of children with cerebral palsy (CP) in order to improve care by increasing family participation in rehabilitation programmes. METHODS: This cross-sectional questionnaire-based study was conducted between January to March 2019. Convenience sampling was used to recruit 43 family members (18 years and above) of children with CP who came to the physiotherapy departments for rehabilitation services for their children. Fisher’s exact test was used to analyse the association between socio-demographic characteristics and each of the need items. RESULTS: Five different items were identified to be the family needs that were most frequently met: a) ‘need for active involvement in the child’s treatment and therapies’ (n= 40; 93.0%), b) ‘need for the provision of standard medical care (n= 39; 90.7%), c) ‘need for questions to be answered honestly’ (n= 38; 88.4%), d) ‘need for healthcare professionals to respect the child’s wishes’ (n= 36; 83.7%), e) ‘need for mothers to discuss their feelings (depression, stress etc.) with someone who has similar experience’ (n= 36; 83.7%). Conversely, three items were the most unmet family needs: a) ‘need to have professionals to consult whenever the child needs help’ (n= 39; 90.7%), b) ‘need to be informed about the child’s prognosis’ (n= 41; 95.3%), and c) ‘need to have financial support to provide the child with adequate care’ (n= 43; 100%). CONCLUSION: All participants overwhelmingly reported that their financial needs were their highest priority. The multiple needs of families of children with disabilities must be assessed and considered in rehabilitation services when treating children with CP.
