This chapter intends to analyse the moderate effect of individual anxiety and gender derived by the pandemic crisis regarding health importance, health knowledge, and health consciousness of the individuals. A quantitative methodology was adopted with data collected from a questionnaire survey. The conceptual models and associated hypotheses were tested with a sample of 243 respondents. Data were analysed through a mediate-moderate model using a Hayes PROCESS macro. Findings show that health consciousness and knowledge affect health importance, health knowledge mediates the relation between health consciousness and health importance, for women health is more important than for men, and anxiety moderates and increases the relation between health consciousness, health knowledge, and health importance.

Abstract Purposes The study examined the mediation moderated effects of spiritual intelligence and mindfulness on the relationship between emotional dysregulation, depression and mental well-being. It also investigated the mediating effects of mindfulness on the relationship between spiritual intelligence and mental well-being in persons with diabetes. Methods A cross-sectional survey was carried out among 636 (age 32–74 years; mean = 40.31; SD = 8.40) people living with diabetes who are registered patients and were attending the clinic in Department of Endocrinology, Ondo State Specialist Hospital, Okitipupa and Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja. The data were analysed using Pearson Multiple correlation and mediation moderated model 29 and mediation model 4 of PROCESS macro. The analyses were carried out with PROCESS macro for IBM/SPSS Version 25.0. Results Showed significant and positive direct relationship between depression on mental well-being of person with diabetes, β = 0.39, 95 % CI (0.29, 0.48). Results showed mindfulness (β = 0.00, 95 % CI: 0.00, 0.00) and spiritual intelligence (β = -0.01, 0.00, 95 % CI: -0.01, -0.01) significantly moderated the existing direct relationship between depression and mental well-being of persons with diabetes Results showed significant and positive indirect relationship between depression and mental well-being via emotional dysfunctional of persons with diabetes, β = 0.46, 95 % CI (0.44, 0.48). Results showed mindfulness (β = -0.02, 95 %, CI; -0.03, -0.02) and spiritual intelligence (β = -0.00, 95 %, CI: 00.00, -0.01) significant moderated the existing indirect relationship between depression and mental well-being occurred via emotional dysfunctional of persons with diabetes. Results showed significant direct relationship between spiritual intelligence and mental well-being of persons with diabetes, β = -0.12, 95 %, CI: (0.09, 0.16). Results showed mindfulness significantly mediates the existing direct relationship between spiritual intelligence and mental well-being of persons with diabetes, β = -0.11, 95 %, CI: (0.08, 0.15). Results also significant direct relationship between spiritual and mindfulness of persons with diabetes, β = 0. 0.25, 95 % CI: 0.18, 0.31). Conclusion Emotional dysregulation play mediating role of the association between depression and mental well-being of persons with diabetes was moderated by spiritual intelligence and mindfulness. There is an ongoing discussion about the effectiveness of social media usage on the ability of people to recover from the crisis. However, the existing social media crisis communication models could not address the dynamic feature of social media users and the crisis, respectively. Therefore, the objective of this study is to conduct a preliminary investigation of the social media crisis communication model for building public resilience. Thus, 34 items were generated from the literature concerning the crisis, crisis response, social interaction, and resilience. The items were validated by three experts via content validity index and modified kappa statistics. After passing the validation test, the instruments were pre-tested by 32 participants. The reliability of the items was analyzed using Cronbach’s alpha. Also, the model fits and mediation were examined by the regression model, and the hypotheses were independently assessed in process macro models. Based on the result obtained, each of the constructs satisfied the internal consistency requirement; crisis (0.743), crisis response (0.724), social media interaction (0.716), and resilience (0.827). Furthermore, the result also indicates that the regression model is a good fit for the data. The independent variables statistically significantly predict the dependent variable, p < 0.05. Also, the result of the process macro models indicates that all the hypotheses are independently supported.

Objectives. The objective of this study is threefold: 1) to examine the effect of positive illusions on risk taking manifested in opportunity evaluation and investment decision; 2) to examine the mediating role of risk attitudes on the relationship between positive illusions and risk taking manifested in opportunity evaluation and investment decision; 3) to examine the moderating effect of experience on the relationship between positive illusions and risk taking manifested in opportunity evaluation and investment decision. Sample and setting. Research sample comprised 132 entrepreneurs aged between 19 and 63 (M = 40.6; SD = 10.8) owning small, medium, and large-sized businesses. Hypotheses. 1) Individuals exhibiting higher positive illusions (overconfidence, unrealistic optimism, illusion of control) would take higher risk manifested in opportunity evaluation and investment decision. 2) Risk attitudes will mediate the relationship between positive illusions and risk taking manifested in opportunity evaluation and investment decision. 3) Experience will moderate the relationship between positive illusions and risk taking manifested in opportunity evaluation and investment decision. Statistical analysis and results. 1) Using simple linear regression it was found that only unrealistic optimism for rare positive events and illusion of control predicted risk taking manifested in investment decision. None of positive illusions explained opportunity evaluation. 2) Using PROCESS macro for mediation analysis it was found that domain-specific risk perception, rather than general risk tolerance, is statistically significant mediator of the relationship between unrealistic optimism for rare positive events and investment decision. 3) Moderation analysis via PROCESS macro showed that only entrepreneurial experience moderates the relationship between unrealistic optimism for rare positive events and investment decision using own savings. The limitations concerning gender and domain specificity of methods are discussed in the study.
