Nowadays, the part program describes only the process itself and not the obtained performance. The operator monitors just some of the variables describing the actually obtained product and appropriately adjusts the values of the programmed variables. This adjustment is realised with a considerable delay and without an adequate fundament (many times even intuitively). Moreover, process monitoring currently follows only to notice the occurrence of perturbations and, hence, of deviations from process plan. As consequence, the performance in accomplishing the manufacturing task might be diminished due to an insufficient knowledge about both the system dynamics and the conditions in which the process is performed. Starting from these premises, the challenge addressed here is to rebuild at conceptual level the monitoring system such us the monitoring becomes holistic, this meaning evaluation & reveal of machining system current state & dynamics. In other words, the holistic monitoring concerns both the values of the variables describing the system state and the relations of causality between them. In this paper, the holistic monitoring is introduced through an illustrative sample. The monitoring variables and functions are defined and sampled.

During machining occurring losses conduct into the machine tool and lead to deformations that im-pair the machining accuracy. Thus, high effort is invested into the compensation of thermo-elastic er-rors. One new approach is to use the information extractable from part programs in combination with CNC controller systems to forecast occurring losses in terms of a look ahead function. The method al-lows the evaluation of part programs with respect to its thermal influence on the machine tool. There-fore, the method is applied on selected part programs, resulting loss distributions are discussed in terms of their thermal impact, and potential follow-up strategies are stated.

A progressive die is a type of die in which multiple operations performed in a single stroke, which was mostly used in sheet metal operations. The working process of sheet metal is widely used in all manufacturing industries such as mechanical, defense and automotive etc. The key advantage of metal working process involves enhancement of production rate and cost reduction. This paper is aimed to develop a multi-functional die which can perform simultaneously both punching and blanking operations in one stroke. The present work is mainly focused on modeling and manufacturing of the die components, where PRO-E was used for modelling and FANUC controlled CNC machine was used to execute and prepared part program.

Research is limited regarding the type and amount of experience that matters for disputant preferences in dispute resolution processes. The authors focus on a unique federal appellate agency dispute resolution program at the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission. Participants are professionals with repeat experience who are likely to have future interactions with the agency. Using survey data and regression analyses, the authors find that 1) greater personal experience with mediation or adjudication leads to a greater preference for mediation over adjudication; 2) higher levels of satisfaction with the fairness of process are associated with stronger preferences for mediation over adjudication; and 3) disputants who perceive a fair process in their most recent cases will express a greater preference for mediation over adjudication. Results have important implications for dispute system design.

In the process of a product manufacturing has a significant role in low costs of the production. Due to this case, the railway workshop has employed the numerical machine to repair the train component damages. This paper aims at analyzing a repairing program of the GE 761 traction motor axle cap using a technology numerical control (TNC) 355. The TNC itself is included on a category of a numerical control which is a method in operating a manufacturing machine automatically. The numerical data are needed to provide a part that is used by the machine which is known as a part program. The part program is processed by the machine to activate the motors that run the machine. This paper has analyzed 4 programs to repair the axle cap.

This study proposes using the iterative learning control method to adjust the volumetric error-compensated tool path, where the working volume motion accuracy of three-axis computerized numerical control (CNC) milling machine tools is increased by segmented modification of the part program. As the three-axis CNC milling machine tools generally have volumetric error of working volume, this study refers to the measured and established table of volumetric errors and uses the method of the modifying part program for volumetric error compensation of machine tools. This study proposes using part-program single-block positioning segmented for volumetric error compensation, as the generated compensated part program with multiple compensated blocks can effectively compensate the volumetric error of working volume in the tool moving process. In terms of the compensated tool path computing method, this study uses the iterative learning control (ILC) method and refers to compensated tool path and volumetric errors along the compensated tool path for iterative computation. Finally, a part program with multiple blocks is modified by the converged optimal compensated tool path, in order that the modified part program has higher-precision volumetric error compensation effect. The simulation result shows that the rate of improvement of error of the volumetric error compensation method proposed in this study is 70%. The result of cutting tests shows that the average rate of improvement of the straightness error of the test workpiece is 60%, while the average rate of improvement of height error is 80%. Therefore, the results of simulation and cutting tests can prove the feasibility of using the ILC method for segmented modification of the volumetric error-compensated part programs proposed in this study.

Capturing the strategy followed during a coordinate measuring machine (CMM) inspection planning session has been an extremely challenging issue due to the time-consuming nature of traditional methods, such as interviewing experts and technical documents data mining. This paper presents a methodology demonstrating how a motion capture-based system can facilitate direct and nonintrusive CMM operator logging for capturing planning strategies and representing in knowledge formats. With the use of recorded motion data, embedded knowledge and expertise can be captured automatically and formalized in various formats such as motion trajectory graphs, inspection plans, integrated definition (IDEF) model diagrams, and other representations. Additionally, a part program can be generated for driving a CMM to execute component measurement. The system's outputs can be used to help understand how a CMM inspection strategy is planned, as well as training aids for inexperienced operators and the rapid generation of part programs.
