Nickel mining activities in Obi Island, North Maluku Province use open-pit techniques, causing environmental problems. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the environmental conditions of the mining area and evaluate the obligations of the government of South Halmahera Regency in preparing and implementing environmental management instruments in accordance with UU No.32/2009. This research is a policy research to evaluate mining activities, using the Haas & Springer evaluation model. The results showed that mining activities in Obi Island, North Maluku Province caused a decrease in the quality of the environment, due to the Government of South Halmahera Regency which was not consistent in protecting and managing the environment, especially in the mining area, this can be seen from the absence of RTRW / RPMJD KLHS Documents, implementation of the UKL / UPL AMDAL that is not yet optimal, and there is no standard for B3 waste management and B3 waste dumping to the environmental media. Thus, the local Regency Government has not been able to implement environmental law policies properly, effectively and efficiently.

The results show that Indonesia is in the second position as the largest country in the world that contributes waste to the sea. This plastic waste is one of the biggest polluters in the sea which can be a serious threat to marine ecosystems. One of the right treatments is the plastic bag diet. This certainly raises various perceptions among the community as an effort to save the environment. This study aims to determine the perceptions of UIN Walisongo Semarang students on the plastic diet program as an effort to save marine ecosystems. This study used a qualitative descriptive research method, with a data collection instrument in the form of a questionnaire. Based on the research that has been done, the 193 samples obtained indicate that the perception of UIN Walisongo students towards the plastic diet as an effort to save marine ecosystems is very positive and supports this movement. This is evidenced by the knowledge of students about the use of plastics and its dangers, the impact of plastic on marine ecosystems and about the plastic diet program.

Environmental damage is caused by people interference with nature. It has been assumed that people's personalities and intelligence influence the ecosystem. Research aims to find out the relationship between locus of control (LOC) and naturalistic intelligence (NI) with people's citizenship behavior (CB). A survey method has been applied by involving 80 people as a sample. Three instruments for measuring LOC, NI, and people’s CB. Regression and correlational analysis used to verify its relationship. Research results reveal that there is a positive and significant correlation between LOC and CB, NI, and CB, finally between LOC and NI with CB. Multiple regression and correlation used to predict people's CB in terms of how people live with nature harmoniously based on people's LOC and NI. The implications that LOC and NI is one part to improve wise behavior towards the environment in society is related to the LOC and NI of each individual

The increase in waste generation is a major problem especially for urban areas such as Jakarta with insufficient landfill capacity and an inefficient and environmentally sound waste management system. To produce an optimal, integrated and sustainable landfill management strategy, an analysis of the TPST Bantargebang waste management system is then formulated towards optimization of sustainable landfill management in environmental, financial, and social aspects through a system dynamics intervention scenario model of the TPST Bantargebang waste management system. Based on the descriptive analysis carried out on the latest waste management, 3 main issues are known, namely, landfill capacity almost fully occupied, methane gas emissions increment, and the possibility waste pickers integration to increase scavenging productivity. Simulations were carried out with a system dynamics model for the 2018-2023 period with BAU conditions and an intervention scenario with a reduction in landfill waste and a reduction in waste flow. The results of the scenario are: landfill can still be utilized until 2023; methane gas emissions decreased by an average of 23,50%; the increase in the Scavenger Production Ratio to the Landfill Waste Rate reached 134,58%. As a consequence of the intervention and the addition of waste treatment activities in the TPST Bantargebang, the operational cost per ton has increased up to 309,62%. This study concludes that the scenario of incoming waste reduction and existing landfill waste reduction planned by Material Recovery Facility (MRF) construction with scavenger involvement, compost processing efficiency improvement, construction of Waste to Energy (WtE) facilities in the form of incinerator, landfill mining, and reprofiling simultaneously.
