AbstractNatural phenomena can be quantitatively described by means of mathematics, which is actually the only way of doing so. Physics is a convincing example of the mathematization of nature. This paper gives an answer to the question of how mathematization of nature is done and illustrates the answer. Here nature is to be taken in a wide sense, being a substantial object of study in, among others, large domains of biology, such as epidemiology and neurobiology, chemistry, and physics, the most outspoken example. It is argued that mathematization of natural phenomena needs appropriate core concepts that are intimately connected with the phenomena one wants to describe and explain mathematically. Second, there is a scale on and not beyond which a specific description holds. Different scales allow for different conceptual and mathematical descriptions. This is the scaling hypothesis, which has meanwhile been confirmed on many occasions. Furthermore, a mathematical description can, as in physics, but need not be universally valid, as in biology. Finally, the history of science shows that only an intensive gauging of theory, i.e., mathematical description, by experiment leads to progress. That is, appropriate core concepts and appropriate scales are a necessary condition for mathematizing nature, and so is its verification by experiment.

The article describes the processes of organizing and implementing distance learning at the Institute of Pedagogy, Psychology and Sociology of the Siberian Federal University in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The process of mastering the technology of electronic portfolio by bachelor students of the training direction “Pedagogical education”, the profile “Tutor” in the implementation of the discipline “E-portfolio in personal and professional development” is considered. The possibilities of using the means of distance educational technologies in the process of studying by students of the electronic training course “E-portfolio in personal and professional development” are presented. The methods of organizing classroom (practical) and independent work of students by the teacher in the implementation of this course using distance learning technologies are described. Examples of classes with a specific description of the stages, the distance technologies used, the actions of participants in the educational process — students and teachers; the results of students’ activities to perform part of the classroom and independent tasks of the electronic training course under consideration are presented. The results of students’ reflection on the course which was organized using the forum are presented in the article.

The article examines the methods of increasing the productivity of wells of gas and gas condensate reservoirs in the south-eastern part of the Bukhara-Khiva region (BHR). The role of gas calculation methods in determining the gas reserve of Mesopotamia in sveza with an increase in the share of gas reserves from 1 to 10 million tons of conventional fuel is shown. Certain difficulties have been identified in the issue of reliable determination of gas reserves in the limited fund of wells and large ranges of changes in calculated parameters. The determining significance of the value of gas reserves in calculating the forecast indicators of the development and technologies of their extraction is justified. It is established that increasing the degree of reliability of calculating gas reserves ensures the efficiency of its extraction, as well as the rational use of material and technical resources and financial capabilities of the enterprise. The advantages of such methods for determining gas reserves as the volume method, the material balance method, and static models are disclosed. A specific description of each of these methods and their application for calculating gas reserves at the Northern Guzar field is given.

In the partition theory, there is more then one form of representation of dedication, most notably the Abacus diagram, which gives an accurate and specific description. In the year 2019, Mahmood and Mahmood presented the idea of merging more than two plans, and then the following question was raised: Is the process of separating any somewhat large diagram into smaller schemes possible? The general formula to split e-abacus diagram into two or more equal or unequal parts was achieved in this study now.

Natural-scientific prose is characterized by a specific description of the natural world in which scientific information is fitted in the experience of nature and animal characters only partially or minimally anthropomorphized. The goal of this research is firstly to explore the presence and influence of foreign literary authors in the history of Croatian (childrenʼs) literature, who dedicated their literary work to this unique literary subgenre, such as a Danish journalist and writer Carl Ewald and an American-Canadian zoologist and literary author Ernest Thompson Seton. Furthermore, the aim of the paper was also to study the contribution of Croatian authors – Miroslav Hirtz, Zlatko Špoljar, Antica Juras-Ljubić and Vlatko Šarić – in this narrative form by methodologically relying on the insights of literary science and animal studies.

Abstract The essence of so-called heterotaxy is the potential disharmony between the arrangement of the bronchuses, abdominal organs, and the atrial appendages. Accurate description of the heart, however, can only be provided by specific description of these features, all of which are readily discernible in the clinical setting. We argue that, when accurate description of the atrial and visceral arrangement is provided, along with appropriate description of the intracardiac findings, no further accuracy is gained by suggesting that an individual heart is “heterotaxic”.

Abstract In recent years, petrochemical industry accidents occur frequently. The reason was that the existing safety measures were not comprehensive enough to protect all layers of production. It is an urgent problem for enterprises to improve the existing safety measures and form a system to cover all stages of production. Safety barrier can protect and control every layer of production, so as to protect the production process comprehensively, avoid, prevent and control accidents. Four action layers of safety barrier in petrochemical production were established, and the specific implementation method of safety barrier was proposed. This method was applied with taking atmospheric and vacuum distillation unit as an example. The results show that the atmospheric and vacuum distillation unit can be fully protected by the safety barrier through physical or non-physical means, and its safety has been significantly improved. Finally, the safety barrier database of petrochemical plant was designed and developed in order to manage the safety barrier information and make it convenient for personnel to use. The database functions include storing, querying, adding, modifying and deleting the names, categories, functions and specific description of the safety barrier.

Abstract In this paper, we consider the $L^2$-critical fractional Schrödinger equation $iu_t-|D|^{\beta }u+|u|^{2\beta }u=0$ with initial data $u_0\in H^{\beta /2}(\mathbb{R})$ and $\beta $ close to $2$. We show that if the initial data have negative energy and slightly supercritical mass, then the solution blows up in finite time. We also give a specific description for the blow-up dynamics. This is an extension of the works of F. Merle and P. Raphaël for $L^2$-critical Schrödinger equations. However, the nonlocal structure of this equation and the lack of some symmetries make the analysis more complicated, hence some new strategies are required.
