The job interview is considered as one of the most essential tasks in talent recruitment, which forms a bridge between candidates and employers in fitting the right person for the right job. While substantial efforts have been made on improving the job interview process, it is inevitable to have biased or inconsistent interview assessment due to the subjective nature of the traditional interview process. To this end, in this article, we propose three novel approaches to intelligent job interview by learning the large-scale real-world interview data. Specifically, we first develop a preliminary model, named Joint Learning Model on Interview Assessment (JLMIA), to mine the relationship among job description, candidate resume, and interview assessment. Then, we further design an enhanced model, named Neural-JLMIA, to improve the representative capability by applying neural variance inference. Last, we propose to refine JLMIA with Refined-JLMIA (R-JLMIA) by modeling individual characteristics for each collection, i.e., disentangling the core competences from resume and capturing the evolution of the semantic topics over different interview rounds. As a result, our approaches can effectively learn the representative perspectives of different job interview processes from the successful job interview records in history. In addition, we exploit our approaches for two real-world applications, i.e., person-job fit and skill recommendation for interview assessment. Extensive experiments conducted on real-world data clearly validate the effectiveness of our models, which can lead to substantially less bias in job interviews and provide an interpretable understanding of job interview assessment.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency stormwater management model was applied to a semi-arid urban micro watershed. The sub-catchment’s current features were modeled as scenario A, while the insertion of a set of LID technologies (rain barrels, bioretention cells, permeable pavement, and infiltration trenches) was represented as scenario B. A third scenario (C), considering only the most feasible LID technologies, was also modeled. All the scenarios were evaluated under two representative storm events (30 and 9 mm in two consecutive days, and 39 mm of rainfall in one day) occurred during the sampling performed in this study. Water quality was also simulated for a 30-mm storm event and compared against field assessment results after a real 30-mm storm event. Through the model, the inefficiency of current evacuation methods after 30- and 39-mm storm events was demonstrated. Simulation of scenario B showed that LID technologies could satisfactorily diminish peak flows generated by the selected storm events as well as runoff-conveyed pollution, while the realistic scenario allowed a lower but satisfactory hydrological performance and almost the same runoff quality than scenario B. This preliminary study could contribute to spread awareness about the benefits of LID technologies in semi-arid urban areas of the developing world.

Abstract In this paper a new model has demonstrated that it operates in a moderate performance scale to generate hot water. In its early stage, the preliminary model, which built with double pass water tube inside evacuated tube, was investigated experimentally. The model was tested inside room under different operation conditions in terms of solar radiation 300, 400, 500 and 600 W/m2 and water mass flow rates 0.00305 and 0.0083kg/s. In the first case, there was a problem because of the air gap inside the tube and surrounding the double pass water tube, so In the second stage, two different filling medium inside the evacuated tube was proposed to modify the preliminary model. The mediums cases include porous media (stainless steel wire mesh and Aluminum fiber metallic). The results show that maximum efficiency without porous media was 62.4% at 0.0083 kg/s and heat flux 600 W/m2, but after porous media applied, the efficiency reached 79.4% at 99.997% porosity of Aluminum fiber metallic and heat flux 600 W/m2 with same water mass flow.

This technical note presents an analysis of the underlying factors of human factors in ship design based on questionnaires distributed on two offshore supply vessels operating in the Norwegian Sea. The concept of human factors in ship design is still evolving. The purpose of this paper is to present a preliminary model of the human factors construct by using a factor analysis method. The results confirm the existence of controllability, workability and habitability as the principal factors of human factors in ship design. Three other factors that emerged are cargo facilities, reliability, automation and maintainability (RAM) and interfacing complexity. Bridging variables found between these factors include elements such as safety, manoeuvring, engine room and bridge design. A preliminary model of how the components or parts relate to human factors in ship design and operation is developed. The model also indicates the parties who are responsible for the various aspects of ship design from a human factors perspective.

<p>This thesis aims to outline the important role of culture in the development of the human mind and behaviour, and therefore argues that cultural information is a key part of forensic explanation. Differing cultural experiences, such as marginalisation, contribute to the differential representation of individuals and groups in criminal justice systems. Although there are multiple means through which this occurs, this thesis focuses on the role of the individual agentic process, nested within a historically-derived cultural context. Building on previous theoretical work, a preliminary model – the Cultural-Ecological Predictive Agency Model – is presented that might better assist comprehensive explanation of offending behaviour with reference to cultural processes and concepts. The model is then applied to an exemplar, compared to current approaches to rehabilitation and desistance, and some implications for forensic practice are suggested. The overall goal of this thesis is to explicate the potential cultural impacts on individuals who commit offences, and examine some of the causes of offending beyond ‘faulty individual psychology’.</p>

<p>Traditionally, there has been a preoccupation with the concept of risk in criminal justice research and practice, with very little emphasis placed on the notion of protection. Recently, forensic psychology researchers and practitioners have become more interested in the idea of protective factors – the factors that are association with a reduction rather than an increase in offending. However, this area of research is in its infancy, and much is still unclear. The current thesis aims to analyse the development of this concept, as well as how it is currently understood. I will argue that current conceptualisations of protection are limited, and will outline a range of criticisms. I then develop a preliminary model that will aim to overcome these problems. More specifically, I will clearly define the notion of protection, offer an explanation of how protective factors may exert their protective effects, and discuss how this understanding of protection can be applied to offender interventions.</p>
