The work is devoted to the solution of the general plane problem related to the determination of the limiting state of bodies during separation. The equations defining the conditions for the limiting state are taken as functions that depend on the average pressure and directions of separation. As a result of calculations, the characteristic equations were determined for two cases: when the limiting values of separation by two main stresses are reached and when the limiting value of separation by one main stress is reached. For the two considered cases, equations of characteristics and relations along them were obtained.

Abstract The behavior of massive quantum fields in the general plane wave spacetime and external, non-plane, electromagnetic waves is studied. The asymptotic conditions, the ``in" (``out") states and the cross sections are analysed. It is observed that, despite of the singularities encountered, the global form of these states can be obtained: at the singular points the Dirac delta-like behavior emerges and there is a discrete change of phase of the wave function after passing through each singular point. The relations between these phase corrections and local charts are discussed. Some examples of waves of infinite range (including the circularly polarized ones) are presented for which the explicit form of solutions can be obtained. All these results concern both the scalar as well as spin one-half fields; in latter case the change of the spin polarization after the general sandwich wave has passed is studied.

Abstract The paper considers the general plane problem of determining the limiting state of bodies during separation. The conditions for reaching the limiting state are considered to depend on the average pressure and the direction of separation. The paper defines the characteristic equations for two cases of separation: equality of two principal stresses to the limiting value of separation and equality of one principal stress to the limiting value of separation. Equations of characteristics’ lines and relations along them are determined.

With a focus on the online phenomena of scamming and scambaiting, this article explores users’ communicative activities on Reddit’s r/scambait subreddit. Drawing on a representative corpus viewed through grounded theory, we establish the basic categories of posts and then unpack those further to reveal the deceptive practices being undertaken by both scammers and scambaiters, as well as Redditors’ untruthfulness in their fabricated posts. The analysis reveals that the r/scambait subreddit exists as a site of humorous entertainment arising from various forms of deception. Scammers’ deceptive strategies are depicted as amusingly naïve and inefficient, while scambaiters’ deceptive messages targeted at scammers demonstrate great creativity and wittiness. In both cases, scammer-victims are disparaged for being immensely gullible or downright stupid; and Redditors earn online plaudits for submitting the most upvoted posts. Our significant finding is that posts such as those at r/scambait should never be taken at face value due to their inherent epistemological ambiguity, to which the users choose to remain oblivious or indifferent. Furthermore, on a general plane, this study indicates a potential shift in the emic understanding of the concept of “scambaiting” from a punitive measure and an educational instrument to a creative practice geared toward posters’ kudos and users’ joint humorous experience through “baitertainment” and “scamusement.”

In this paper presents the results of the definition the need to use a Kelvin guard ring to reduce the impact of external fields and non-uniformity of equipotential lines to change response characteristic of the capacitive sensor with a central high-potential electrode and a Kelvin guard ring. Measuring transducer placing in the immediate vicinity of the electrodes of the sensor, which eliminates the need to use a triaxial cable, was proposed. The sensor is designed to measure powerful generators shafts cylindrical surfaces parameters run-out. Capacitive sensor response characteristic function which depending on distance between the general plane of electrodes of the sensor and the grounded surface of a shaft is determined analytically and by computer simulation methods. The expediency of using computer modeling tools by finite element analysis methods for studying the metrological characteristics of sensors was shown. References 21, figures 4, table 1.

A description of the motion equation of a single two-dimensional finite element used to model a multi-body system with elastic elements is made in the article. To establish them, the Lagrange’s equations are used. Obtaining the dynamic response of a system with deformable components has become important for technical applications in recent decades. These engineering applications are characterized by high applied loads and high acceleration and velocities. A study of such mechanical systems leads to the identification of different mechanical phenomena (due to high deformations, resonance phenomena, and stability). Coriolis effects and relative motions significantly modify the motion equations and, implicitly, the dynamic response. These effects are highlighted in this paper for plane motion.
