Abstract Objectives/Scope Selection of "first fill" demulsifiers for new, undeveloped, oil fields has significant limitations, typically relying on data from test work with synthetic emulsion created in a laboratory using highly contaminated drilling samples of crude oil. Additional separation challenges related to offshore production of high viscosity, low API crude oil, from a low temperature reservoir results in a low probability of success in selecting a suitable first fill demulsifier using the traditional bottle test alone. Methods, Procedures, Process To give improved speed of oil/water separation, water quality, interface quality and top oil dehydration, samples of chemical free oil and produced water were used to screen alternative existing products against the base case demulsifier via bottle testing. The emulsions were created using a high shear stirrer to mimic the system conditions of the wells coming online and water droplet size within the emulsion was determined via cross polarizing thermal microscopy. For the purposes of these tests, demulsifier performance was ranked on speed and completeness of separation, interface quality, water quality and grind out (BS&W) characteristics. Results, Observations, Conclusions Several differences were observed between the initial and subsequent test work. The low shear emulsion created in the early work was found to be very unstable, separating easily with no residual emulsion in the crude oil. The emulsion created under high shear conditions gave a much closer correlation in terms of water droplet distribution to that measured during the field test and resulted in a much more stable emulsion that was more difficult to separate and typically left unresolved emulsion in the oil after the bulk of the water had separated. Whilst the original demulsifier recommendation was still able to facilitate separation it was found that it was no longer the optimum product, with other previously disregarded products able to provide a higher level of performance on the high shear emulsion. Novel/Additive Information This paper demonstrates that a higher level of performance was achieved with an enhanced screening process, namely through high shear stirring and confirmation of water droplet size within the emulsion. When added to the standard bottle testing conditions, the development of demulsifiers can better ensure an optimum result, fit for purpose for the application.

Abstract The results of joint theoretical and experimental studies aimed at revealing features in the Raman spectra, which can be used for evaluation of the interface quality between GaN and AlN layers in short-period GaN/AlN superlattices (SLs) are presented. The Raman spectra for SLs with sharp interface and with different degree of interface diffusion are simulated by ab initio calculations and within the framework of random-element isodisplacement model, respectively. The comparison of the results of theoretical calculations and experimental data obtained on PA MBE and MOVPE grown SLs, leads to conclusion that the spectral region of the A1(LO) confined phonons is very sensitive to the degree of interface sharpness. As a result of comprehensive studies, the correlations between the parameters of the A1(LO) confined phonons and the structure of SLs are obtained. The results of the complex studies can be used to optimize the parameters of the growth process in order to form structurally perfect short-period GaN/AlN SLs.

Abstract Objective The present study aims to assess the feasibility and patient satisfaction of teleoncology orientation in a vulnerable population of breast cancer patients assessed in a government health system during the coronavirus pandemic in 2020. Methods Eligible patients received an invitation to receive remote care to minimize exposure to an environment in which the risk of respiratory infection was present. The means of communication was telephone through an application that allows free conversation with no charge. An anonymous-response questionnaire based on a Likert-type scale was sent through a cell phone application or e-mail directly to each patient or close relative of the patient immediately after teleconsultation. Responses to the questions, which addressed utility, facility, interface quality, interaction quality, reliability, satisfaction, and interest in future evaluation, were compiled and analyzed. Results A total of 176 eligible patients scheduled for consultation were evaluated and 98 were included. Seventy (71.4%) successfully undertook the teleorientation. The questionnaire was submitted by 43 (61.4%) patients. The overall teleoncology orientation was classified as very positive by 41 (95.3%) patients. Specifically, regarding the questionnaire items, 43 (100%) patients scored 4 or 5 (agreed that the teleconsultation was beneficial) concerning the facility, followed by 42 (97.2%) for the interface quality, 41 (95.3%) for both utility and interaction quality, 40 (93%) for satisfaction and interest in future evaluation, and, finally, 39 (90.6%) for reliability. Conclusion Teleoncology orientation of low-income breast cancer patients is most feasible and leads to high patient satisfaction.

We present an extensive theoretical and experimental study to identify the effect on the Raman spectrum due to interface interdiffusion between GaN and AlN layers in short-period GaN/AlN superlattices (SLs). The Raman spectra for SLs with sharp interfaces and with different degree of interface diffusion are simulated by ab initio calculations and within the framework of the random-element isodisplacement model. The comparison of the results of theoretical calculations and experimental data obtained on PA MBE and MOVPE grown SLs, showed that the bands related to A1(LO) confined phonons are very sensitive to the degree of interface diffusion. As a result, a correlation between the Raman spectra in the range of A1(LO) confined phonons and the interface quality in SLs is obtained. This opens up new possibilities for the analysis of the structural characteristics of short-period GaN/AlN SLs using Raman spectroscopy.

AbstractThis article reviews the state of the art in inversion-type p-channel diamond MOSFETs. We successfully developed the world’s first inversion-channel homoepitaxial and heteroepitaxial diamond MOSFETs. We investigated the dependence of phosphorus concentration (NP) of the n-type body on field-effect mobility (μFE) and interface state density (Dit) for the inversion channel homoepitaxial diamond MOSFETs. With regard to the electrical properties of both the homoepitaxial and heteroepitaxial diamond MOSFETs, they suffer from low μFE and one main reason is high Dit. To improve the interface quality, we proposed a novel technique to form OH-termination by using H-diamond followed by wet annealing, instead of the previous OH-termination formed on O-diamond. We made precise interface characterization for diamond MOS capacitors by using the high-low C–V method and the conductance method, providing further insights into the trap properties at Al2O3/diamond interface, which would be beneficial for performance enhancement of the inversion-type p-channel diamond MOSFETs. In this research, the positive role of interface visual design in digital safety education was verified taking COVID-19 prevention and control knowledge as the content of public health safety education, where interface emotion (positive, negative, and neutral) and interface layout (waterfall typed and juxtaposition typed) were regarded as independent variables, and readers’ understanding, course evaluation and system usability score were dependent variables. As revealed in the results of a 3 × 2 two-factor experiment in which 252 college students participated: first, different interface emotion can cause significantly different understanding, where negative emotion has the best learning transfer effect; second, due to the difference in interface emotion, participants may give certain courses significantly different evaluation scores, while positive emotional interface contributes to the obviously high scores of three course-evaluation items, “appeal of the lesson”, “enjoyment of the lesson” and “interface quality”; third, significantly different system usability can be caused by different interface layout, where waterfall-type layout enjoys higher appraisal from users; fourth, interface emotion and interface layout have a similar interactive effects in terms of “effort of the lesson” and “interface quality”, where waterfall-type layout is favored in terms of positive emotional interface, and juxtaposition-type layout is more advantageous in terms of negative emotional interface. These results are of vital significance for interface design and safety education. Further, the visual design method for interface emotion and interface layout were analyzed to determine the most suitable design principles so as to improve the effect of digital public health safety education and provide constructive ideas for fighting against COVID-19 at the educational level.
