The current social and cultural debates on AI and how it is being embedded into the reality of social life have reignited scientific debates on how to study AI, what counts as data, and the conditions under which information and data pertaining AI turn into knowledge. In this paper the authors’ focus was exploring new sources of data on AI and methods of AI phenomena examination. The paper presents the results of a comparative analysis of Google, Yandex, and Baidu’s websites. Contrary to these companies commonly being perceived as online search engines, Google, Baidu, and Yandex have multiple offerings across mobile products and services, knowledge products, translation services, open platforms for startups, PC client software and AI technologies. In the first part of the paper the authors compare information presented on these companies’ websites about their goals, their technologies, how they define AI, the proclaimed social problems associated with using AI, and the forms of interaction between these companies and their audiences. The second part of the paper analyzes 20 projects that won the Google AI Impact Challenge contest. Analyzing these projects allowed for identifying areas of application of AI technologies inside and outside organizations, for characterizing AI’s potential roles as a mediator in relations between people, and finally for highlighting utopian and dystopian scenarios associated with implementing AI in social relations. In the conclusion the authors formulate a set of broader questions for social analytics concerning artificial intelligence grounded in the results of their analysis.

The WLCG is modernizing its security infrastructure, replacing X.509 client authentication with the newer industry standard of JSON Web Tokens (JWTs) obtained through the Open ID Connect (OIDC) protocol. There is a wide variety of software available using the standards, but most of it is for Web browser-based applications and doesn’t adapt well to the command line-based software used heavily in High Throughput Computing (HTC). OIDC command line client software did exist, but it did not meet our requirements for security and convenience. This paper discusses a command line solution we have made based on the popular existing secrets management software from Hashicorp called vault. We made a package called htvault-config to easily configure a vault service and another called htgettoken to be the vault client. In addition, we have integrated use of the tools into the HTCondor workload management system, although they also work well independent of HTCondor. All of the software is open source, under active development, and ready for use.

The article deals with Gran software and the access to it through the remote desktop. The peculiarities of web-based remote desktop access and Gran software system for teaching mathematics at school are revealed. The paper also describes the application of open source software (Ulteo OVD) that allows users to remotely access their desktops and applications using one of the Desktop as a Service cloud components through a client device browser. The modes of using Ulteo OVD client software are described. Two servers (Application Server and Session Manager Server) have been organized to use Ulteo OVD by means of PROXMOX web-based virtual environment. The authors propose the way to use Ulteo OVD to access software installed on a remote server, in particular Gran software. The article also describes some examples of graphical problem solving using Gran1 that can be used in maths at school. The considered issues are quite complex and rather time-consuming without Gran1 software for graphical analysis of various tasks and approximate calculation of numerical measures of different objects (lengths of surfaces, areas of surfaces, volumes of bodies, probabilities of occurrence of different events, statistical analysis of observational data) of their solving. The range of tasks that can be solved with the use of the Gran software package, in particular Gran1 programme, is quite broad. By applying a creative approach, their analysis and solution can have a positive effect on the learners’ mental and cultural development. It is emphasized that the use of various technologies in educational process, as well as the selection of tasks and the content of training in general, should be pedagogically weighted, based on the harmonious combination of pedagogical heritage of the past and modern achievements of scientific and technological progress.

Abstract Summary Management raw sequencing data and its preprocessing (conversion into sequences and demultiplexing) remains a challenging topic for groups running sequencing devices. They face many challenges in such efforts and solutions ranging from manual management of spreadsheets to very complex and customized LIMS systems handling much more than just sequencing raw data. In this manuscript, we describe the software package DigestiFlow that focuses on the management of Illumina flow cell sample sheets and raw data. It allows for automated extraction of information from flow cell data and management of sample sheets. Furthermore, it allows for the automated and reproducible conversion of Illumina base calls to sequences and the demultiplexing thereof using bcl2fastq and Picard Tools, followed by quality control report generation. Availability and Implementation The software is available under the MIT license at https://github.com/bihealth/digestiflow-server. The client software components are available via Bioconda. Supplementary information Supplementary data are available at Bioinformatics online.

The large number of library materials in the form of new book available in the library every year cause officer have difficulty in classification process book. Similarly, faced by librarian of Islamic University of Lamongan became the object of this research, determining the type or category of book at first the usual system. The process is made a lot of errors because it is based on the knowledge of officers from reading the title or the appropriate category so that makes it difficult for library users to find the materials needed. Application applied in the research is a data classification application that is done automatically using the application developed by Naive Bayes Classifier method with the application of client software web-based. Web-based server application function to input book by administrator and to classify data book based on the title. Based on the experience, and then in this research built an Classification Of Books Category At The Islamic University Of Lamongan Engineering Library

Traditional multimedia technology is not convenient for mobile devices. Therefore, traditional teaching methods are still used in gymnastics teaching. Meanwhile, these classes can far from satisfying students’ requirements for social development and learning. In this research, we designed a mobile multimedia software for gymnastics utilizing Symbian OS. This uses the wireless package switch technology and guarantee the network transmission quality for the client. We used the audio editing interfacing to improve the smooth operation of the client software based on Symbian MMF. A survey shows that the experimental group had higher satisfaction with the application of this platform and could improve their gymnastics skills.
