Aim: We assess the accuracy of torque controllers after several aging processes and the bacterial leakage on Implant-Abutment complexes (IAC).Methods: A total of 12 spring-type and 12 friction-type torque controllers and 48 IAC (24 conical and 24 hexagonal connections) were evaluated. Chemical, mechanical, temperature, and pressure-aging methods were applied individually to replicate clinical use. Torque controller accuracy was analyzed before and after aging using a calibrated gauge. To assess bacterial leakage, the IAC were suspended in a bacterial medium for 24 h. Direct Contact Test (DCT) and Polymerase Chain Reaction Test (RT-PCR) analyzed the infiltration of F. nucleatum and P. gingivalis into the IAC micro-gap. Results: A significant decrease in torque after 10 days of aging was found. The spring-type torque controller was affected the most, regardless of the aging method (P < 0.05). PCR results indicated that all groups exhibited significantly more bacterial leakage, regardless of the method used (P < 0.05). The conical IAC demonstrated more bacterial leakage of P. gingivalis compared with the hexagonal IAC (P = 0.07). DCT found bacterial growth in the IAC only before aging and was not identified after aging. Conclusion: Aging affects torque accuracy. A reduction in force was noticed after 10 days. The conical IAC exhibits more bacterial leakage, although this was not statistically significant.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to offer useful information for improving women’s beauty self-images by analyzing personal color choices in women’s fashions and determining the correlation between color matching and personal fashion color choices in manicures and pedicures. Methods: The research subjects included 32 women aged 20–50 years who lived in capital area and whose personal color fashion choices were determined. The data were analyzed with frequency analysis, a χ2-test, and a one-way ANOVA using SPSS WIN 25.0.Results: Considering the personal color choices, they were high in “summer types” for L* values of skin, high in “winter types” for L* values of hands and feet, and high in “fall types” for values a* and b* of skin, hands, and feet. Also, with regard to matching tones for hands and feet, the personal color choices were mostly “spring types” with warm spring-type tones, summer types with cool summer-type tones, “fall types” with warm fall-type tones, and “winter types” with cool winter-type tones. Conclusion: The results of this study suggested the matched tones for hands and feet are similar to the personal color fashion choices. These findings support a theoretical basis for harmonious color matching when choosing colors in manicure and pedicure nail art. The findings of this study may assist with beauty styling and self-images of women in this fashion era.

An analytical solution for the seismic-induced thrust and moment of the circular tunnel in half-space under obliquely incident P waves is developed in this study, which is the superposition of the solution for deep tunnels under incident and reflected P waves and the reflected SV waves. To consider tangential contact stiffness at the ground-tunnel interface, a spring-type stiffness coefficient is introduced into the force-displacement relationship. Moreover, the tunnel lining is treated as the thick-wall cylinder, providing more precise forecasts than beam or shell models used in previous analytical solution, especially for tunnels with thick lining. The reliability of the proposed analytical solution is assessed by comparing with the dynamic numerical results. Based on the proposed analytical solution, parametrical studies are conducted to investigate the effect of some critical factors on the tunnel’s seismic response, including the incident angles, the tangential contact stiffness at the ground-tunnel interface, and the relative stiffness between the ground and the tunnel. The results demonstrate that the proposed analytical solution performs well and can be adopted to predict the internal forces of circular tunnels under obliquely incident P waves in seismic design.

The existing spring forms of wheat-rye amphiploids are characterized by late maturity due to the long duration of the interphase period “germination–heading”. The manifestation of this trait is influenced by Vrn-1 genes. Their dominant alleles also determine the spring type of development. The results of studying the interphase period “germination–heading” of spring octaploid and hexaploid forms of triticale created for use in research and breeding programs under the conditions of forest-steppe of Western Siberia are given in this article. The interphase period of the primary forms 8xVrnA1, 8xVrnB1 and 8xVrnD1 obtained by artificial doubling of the chromosome number of the wheat-rye hybrids made by pollination of three lines of the soft wheat ‘Triple Dirk’ – donors of different dominant Vrn-1 genes – by a winter rye variety ‘Korotkostebel’naya 69’ was determined under the field conditions in the nursery of octaploid (8x) triticale. In the nursery of hexaploid triticale, this trait was studied in the populations of hybrids obtained by hybridization of these three primary forms of octaploid triticale with the hexaploid winter triticale variety ‘Sears 57’. In the offspring of crossing 8хVrnD1× ‘Sears 57’, spring genotypes of 6x triticale bearing Vrn-D1 were selected. This fact was determined by PСR. It means that the genetic material from the chromosome of the fifth homeologous group of the D genome of the bread wheat is included in the plant genotypes. This genome is absent in the winter 6x triticale ‘Sears 57’. The grain content of spikes of the created hexaploid forms of triticale is superiour to that of the maternal octaploid triticale forms. It was shown that plants of the hybrid populations 8xVrnA1× ‘Sears 57’ and 8xVrnD1× ‘Sears 57’ carrying the dominant alleles Vrn-A1a and Vrn-D1a, respectively, have a shorter duration of the “germination–heading” interphase period than the initial parental forms of primary 8x triticale. The short interphase period of “germination–heading” of the 6x triticale is a valuable breading trait for the creation of early maturing and productive genotypes of triticale.

AbstractDue to the high mountains to the west and north of the plateau, and the control by westerly mean flow in spring, hot and dry conditions are often observed over the southeastern edge of the Tibetan Plateau (SETP), and hence favoring occurrences of extreme heat events there. Indeed, maximum centers and remarkable increasing trends of extreme heat (EH) days in spring are found over the region. Springtime EH events over the SETP also exhibit strong interannual variability and are closely linked to a spring-type circum-global teleconnection (SCGT) pattern, which is the second leading mode of 200-hPa meridional wind over the North Hemisphere in spring. This SCGT shows distinctive features from the traditional circum-global teleconnection patterns found in boreal summer and winter. It is revealed by a circum-globally navigated Rossby wave train along the mid-high latitudes, which splits to a north branch along the polar jet and a south branch along the subtropical jet over Eurasia after propagating through the North Atlantic. The two branches eventually reach the SETP, forming an anomalous anticyclonic circulation over the region. Hence, conditions in the SETP are controlled by significant anomalous subsidence and a clearer sky, resulting in below-normal rainfall and above-normal air temperature, in favor of more EH events in the region. The SETP EH events are also closely linked to the spring-type CGT-like pattern in April and May, but not in March. In addition, the influence of the foehn effect on the SETP EH is discussed.

ABSTRACT Here we report radiocarbon measurements made on wheat seed tissue (Triticum aestivum L.; winter or spring type growth habit), from the seed archive of the IPK Gatersleben, Sachsen-Anhalt, Germany, which was harvested between 1946 and 2020. The results give an overview of 75 years of radiocarbon concentration evolution in agricultural plant products. The wheat tissue radiocarbon concentrations follow known pre- and post-bomb radiocarbon records, such as the atmospheric Jungfraujoch, Schauinsland, and NH1 datasets. Based on a Northern Hemisphere growing period from April to July, the Gatersleben seed tissue radiocarbon concentration indicates incorporation of fossil carbon of about 1% with respect to the high alpine, clean-air CO2 of the Jungfraujoch station between 1987 and 2019. We propose to use the pre- and post-bomb radiocarbon record of Gatersleben wheat as a reference in forensic investigations, such as the age estimation of paper by analyzing starch used in paper manufacture. Additionally, an advantage of the record reported here lies in its extensibility by adding new analyses from future harvests.
