Abstract Lithium batteries have been identified as one of the most promising energy conversion and storage devices because of their high energy density, safety, and long cycling life. Lithium-polymer batteries have been widely used in various applications ranging from electric vehicles to mobile devices. The purpose of this study was to determine the best type of lithium-polymer and VRLA batteries in the review of the balance of battery life timeout comparison for a predetermined load. Each battery has a different actual balance and theoretical comparison value. The best balance value is close to 1. The best balance comparison after the experiment was a LiPo battery type with a balance value of 0.77 R158F076A7 BMS 3s, then VRLA with a balance of 0.67, and the smallest balance is a LiPo GSE 18650 battery with a balance of 0.25. For both types of batteries with the same input parameters provided, the terminal voltage, current, and characteristics output of Lithium-polymer Li-Po GSE 18650. Batteries were found to be better than a lead-acid with a timeout of use that is 51.64 minutes.

AbstractInsect-scale aerial vehicles are useful tools for communication, environmental sensing and surveying confined spaces. However, the lack of lightweight high-power-density batteries has limited the untethered flight durations of these micro aerial vehicles. Wireless power transmission using radiofrequency electromagnetic waves could potentially offer transmissivity through obstacles, wave-targeting/focusing capabilities and non-mechanical steering of the vehicles via phased-array antennas. But the use of radiofrequency power transmission has so far been limited to larger vehicles. Here we show that a wireless radiofrequency power supply can be used to drive an insect-scale flapping-wing aerial vehicle. We use a sub-gram radiofrequency power receiver with a power-to-weight density of 4,900 W kg–1, which is five times higher than that of off-the-shelf lithium polymer batteries of similar mass. With this system, we demonstrate the untethered take off of the flapping-wing micro aerial vehicle. Our RF-powered aircraft has a mass of 1.8 g and is more than 25 times lighter than previous radiofrequency-powered micro aerial vehicles.

Among the various types of polymer electrolytes, gel polymer electrolytes have been considered as promising electrolytes for high-performance lithium and non-lithium batteries. The introduction of inorganic fillers into the polymer-salt system of gel polymer electrolytes has emerged as an effective strategy to achieve high ionic conductivity and excellent interfacial contact with the electrode. In this review, the detailed roles of inorganic fillers in composite gel polymer electrolytes are presented based on their physical and electrochemical properties in lithium and non-lithium polymer batteries. First, we summarize the historical developments of gel polymer electrolytes. Then, a list of detailed fillers applied in gel polymer electrolytes is presented. Possible mechanisms of conductivity enhancement by the addition of inorganic fillers are discussed for each inorganic filler. Subsequently, inorganic filler/polymer composite electrolytes studied for use in various battery systems, including Li-, Na-, Mg-, and Zn-ion batteries, are discussed. Finally, the future perspectives and requirements of the current composite gel polymer electrolyte technologies are highlighted.

In this paper, we propose an intelligent battery control system that incorporates an active balancing technique and a fuzzy controller to manage and extend the life of an agricultural drone battery efficiently. The control system includes the following key features: A battery pack balancing algorithm based on a bidirectional DC/DC converter; a cell balancing system to prevent overcharge/discharge and ensure equal control of the cell voltages; and a monitoring system and wireless link to track the real-time status of the battery, temperature, and acceleration while the drone is in operation. Each battery pack consists of six lithium polymer batteries, one fuzzy controller per cell, and supports active balancing using the developed balancing technique. The capacity of each of the battery packs in the system is 11,000 mAh, and two can be combined to provide a total capacity of 22,000 mAh.
