The factors causing students' learning difficulties are very diverse, namely cognitive, non-cognitive factors, physical, mental, health, learning environment, teacher's personality, social-culture, economic background of students and schools as educational institutions. Therefore, teachers need to diagnose students' learning difficulties in order to overcome these difficulties. The purpose of this research is to 1) describe students’ difficulties in solving word problem related to the quadratic inequalities; 2) diagnose the cause of these student difficulties. This study is descriptive-qualitative research design. In this case, the researcher is the primary instrument. In collecting the data, the researcher used a diagnostic test sheet, interview and field notes. In this study, triangulation of data source is applied to check the validity of the data. Result of diagnostic test shows that student difficulties are: (a) not identify the problem, (b) not written the information into mathematical model, (c) did not know/forgot the concept of word problem that is GLBB and total revenue, (d) have not been able to make quadratic inequalities, and e) have not been able to determine its solution set. Diagnosis in this research using mapping mathematics, that is a diagram that arrange based on student difficulties. Its research shows that the causes are reading related error, linguistic error, error in understanding inequalities concepts, and error in arithmetic process. The source of causes are students’ cognitive and non-cognitive factors and also pedagogical factors

Students' success in learning math is largely determined by the achievement of the learning process and requires the participation of students in writing. This study aims to improve students' mathematics learning outcomes of grade X SMA public 2 Bangko Semester Odd Year 2016/2017 on the subject matter of Equation and Quadratic Inequality by implementing QSH strategy in direct learning. This research includes collaborative classroom action research. Implementation of the research conducted in SMA public 2 Bangko Rokan Hilir Regency in the odd semester of the academic year 2016/2017. The research subjects of class X2 students as many as 26 people. This study consists of two cycles based on Arikunto (2010). Technique of data collection using observation sheet and test result of learning. Data analysis technique with descriptive statistical analysis. Implementation of QSH strategy in direct learning can improve mathematics learning outcomes of students of class X SMA public 2 Bangko academic year 2016/2017, especially on the subject matter of equations and quadratic inequalities.

This study aims to improve student learning outcomes on the subject of equations and quadratic inequalities using cooperative model of NHT type. This research is a Classroom Action Research, using Kemmis and Taggart model, which is implemented in three cycles. Data were observed each cycle through learning result test, student and teacher observation, and interview. The data obtained are then analyzed through: data reduction, data presentation and conclusion. The results showed that the application of NHT, the type of cooperative model can improve students' mathematics learning outcomes, especially on the subject of equations and quadratic inequalities.

Ketuntasan klasikal mencapai 61% pada siklus I, sedangkan padasiklus II mencapai 88%Abstract: This research is intended to improve student outcomes in Mathematics Dasardengan by improving the quality of learning process. Improving the quality of this process is done by applying realistic-based learning in cooperative groups. This research is a classroom action research (PTK) conducted in two cycles. The results showed that there is an increase in student learning outcomes on the material equations / linear inequalities and equations / quadratic inequalities. The classical completeness reaches 61% in cycle I, while on the second cycle reaches 88%

The purpose of this study was to know: (1) Errors made by V semester students of Mathematics Education in working on the test of real analysis introduction. (2) Causes of errors done by student in working on the test of introduction of real analysis. This research method used descriptive method. Based on analysis of student answers and interviews showed that: (1) Students make errors: provide an option, conclusions given in the answer steps, determine the set of quadratic inequalities settlement, and determine infimum and suremum (2) The causes of the student error in working on the test of introduction of real analysis are: Students are less in doing the proof, rush in solving problems, rarely solve problems that have high difficulty or high order thinking tests, students are weak in the ability of mathematical proof, and students are also not accustomed in answering questions with a structured pattern.
