Prolonged operation of the gas-transport system in conditions of partial loading involves frequent changes in the volume of gas transportation, which necessitates prompt forecasting of system operation. When forecasting the modes of operation of the gas transport system, the main criterion of optimality implies the maximum volume of gas pumping. After all, in this case, the largest profit of the gas-transport company is achieved under the condition of full provision of consumers with energy. In conditions of incomplete loading of the gas-transport system caused by a shortage of gas supply, optimality criteria change significantly. First, the equipment is operated in ranges far from nominal ones which leads to growth of energy consumption. Secondly, changes in performance cause high-amplitude pressure fluctuations at the outlet of compressor stations. Based on mathematical modeling of nonstationary processes, amplitude and frequency of pressure fluctuations at the outlet of compressor stations which can cause the pipeline overload have been established. To prevent this, it was proposed to reduce initial pressure relative to the maximum one. Calculated dependence was obtained which connects the amplitude of pressure fluctuations with the characteristics of the gas pipeline and the nonstationary process. Reduction in energy consumption for transportation is due to the shutdown of individual compressor stations (CS). Mathematical modeling has made it possible to establish regularities of reduction of productivity of the gas-transport system and duration of the nonstationary process depending on the location of the compressor station on the route. With an increase in the number of shutdown compression stations, the degree of productivity decrease and duration of nonstationarity reduces The established patterns and proposed solutions will improve the reliability of a gas-transport system by preventing pipeline overload and reduce the cost of gas transportation by selecting running numbers of shutdown stations with a known decrease in productivity.

Background. Model predictive control (MPC) approach is the basic feedback scheme, combined with high adaptive properties, which determines its successful use in the practice of design and operation of control systems. These advantages allow managing multidimensional objects with a complex structure, including nonlinearity, optimizing processes in real time within the constraints on controlled and managed variables, taking into account uncertainties in the task of objects and perturbations. Objective. The purpose of the paper is to design and analyse control system of carbon monoxide oxidation in the convector cavity based on MPC with linear-quadratic cost functional with constraint. Methods. The design of MPC is based on mathematical model of an object (relatively simple). At the current step, the prediction of object dynamic response on some final period of time (prediction horizon) is carried out; control optimization is performed, the purpose of which is to approximate the control variables of the prediction model to the corresponding setpoint on the predict horizon. The found optimal control is applied and measurement of an actual state of object at the end of a step is carried out. The prediction horizon is shifted one step further, and this algorithm are repeated. Results. The results of modeling the automatic control system show that the MPC approach provides maintenance of carbon dioxide content when changing oxygen consumption and overshoot caused by introduction bulk does not exceed 0.6 % that meets the technological requirements of the process. Conclusions. A fuse of the MPC and the quadratic functional given the constraints on the input signals is proposed. The problems of control degree of carbon oxidation in the convector cavity include non-stationarity, so the use of classical control methods is difficult. The MPC approach minimizes the cost function that characterizes the quality of the process. The predicted behaviour of a dynamic system will usually differ from its actual motion. The obtained quadratic functional is optimized to find the optimal control of degree of CO oxidation to CO2.

The conventional eigensystem realization algorithm with data correlation (ERA/DC) combines the impulse response or free response data of a structural system with the concept of correlation function to identify the modal parameter of the structural system. Previous studies have shown that the modal parameters of structural systems subjected to stationary white noise excitation can be estimated by ERA/DC from the ambient response without excitation data. This concept is extended in this paper for output-only modal identification for the structural system with complex modes under ambient excitation as a nonstationary process in the form of a product model. Numerical simulations and experimental verification are used to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method for response-only modal estimation, and the stabilization diagram is used with modal assurance criterion (MAC) to distinguish structural modes from fictitious modes.

The low efficiency of the separation of rare earth metals by extraction on one stage requires the combination of a large number of mixer-settlers in a cascade. The problem of increasing the rare earth elements separation factor is extremely urgent. One of the perspective methods is the nonequilibrium nonstationary process. In this work, it is offered to use the principle of a nonstationary extraction in the separation process of the Nd/Pr pair from chloride medium by the extractant based onP507. The results which have been received by an experimental setup allowing the monitoring of the influence of a cyclic change of physical-chemical parameters on extraction in the online modeare discussed. A comparison of two ways of implementation of extraction in the nonstationary mode is carried out. The apparent values of physical-chemical parameters (ΔG, ΔH, ΔS) in the temperatures range 15-65 °C are calculated from the data of joint extraction of Nd and Pr.

Investigating characteristics for the secondary breakup of dropping liquid is a fundamental scientific and practical problem in multiphase flow. For its solving, it is necessary to consider the features of both the main hydrodynamic and secondary processes during spray granulation and vibration separation of heterogeneous systems. A significant difficulty in modeling the secondary breakup process is that in most technological processes, the breakup of droplets and bubbles occurs through the simultaneous action of several dispersion mechanisms. In this case, the existing mathematical models based on criterion equations do not allow establishing the change over time of the process’s main characteristics. Therefore, the present article aims to solve an urgent scientific and practical problem of studying the nonstationary process of the secondary breakup of liquid droplets under the condition of the vibrational impact of oscillatory elements. Methods of mathematical modeling were used to achieve this goal. This modeling allows obtaining analytical expressions to describe the breakup characteristics. As a result of modeling, the droplet size’s critical value was evaluated depending on the oscillation frequency. Additionally, the analytical expression for the critical frequency was obtained. The proposed methodology was derived for a range of droplet diameters of 1.6–2.6 mm. The critical value of the diameter for unstable droplets was also determined, and the dependence for breakup time was established. Notably, for the critical diameter in a range of 1.90–2.05 mm, the breakup time was about 0.017 s. The reliability of the proposed methodology was confirmed experimentally by the dependencies between the Ohnesorge and Reynolds numbers for different prilling process modes.
