The Transmission part of the power sector is very much important as it deals with the huge losses of the complete power sector. Transmission substations play a key role in the power transmission process since the power generation at the power plants to the final stage at the consumer end utilization. The utmost care should be taken to protect these transmission substations as same as the care is taken to reduce the losses. The substation needs to be protected from blackouts which is the big problem of substations. For this, the substation high voltage equipment’s like GIS & Power Transformers are to be properly installed & energized according to the standards & care is taken for its maintenance. So, during the commissioning process which is after installation & before energization, there are different tests which are performed on high voltage equipment’s, especially the Gas Insulated Switchgear, in which the High Voltage & Partial discharge has huge impact as the ageing and the life time of GIS can be easily assessed & the GIS can be saved from the damage, tripping and the blackout of a substation. The procedure of the high voltage test and the partial discharge tests are clearly explained in this paper.

Abstract In this paper, a comprehensive detection device for the mechanical properties of seabed sediments and shallow gas is designed, which is mainly composed of the seabed sediment mechanical properties detection part, the shallow gas detection part and the ultrasonic wireless transmission part. The mud water gas separation structure of the shallow gas detection part separates the shallow gas from the mud water, and then the methane concentration in the shallow gas is measured by the non-dispersive infrared methane sensor, which realizes the collection of the submarine shallow gas and the automatic real-time monitoring of the concentration. The measurement of the mechanical properties of seabed sediments realizes the real-time measurement of the three parameters of cone resistance, sidewall friction and pore water pressure, which characterize the mechanical properties of seabed sediments, through strain-sensitive elements. The ultrasonic wireless data transmission part is mainly for the data detected by the mechanical properties of the seabed sediments to be wirelessly transmitted to the sensor placement room through the ultrasonic transducer across the mud-water-gas separation structure. Finally, the data measured by the two parts are transmitted to the mother ship through the cable located in the sensor placement room. The experimental results show that it has the ability to comprehensively detect the mechanical properties of seabed sediments and shallow gas, and has strong operability.

Chapter 5 discusses the struggle for memory institutionalization. Given the role of schools in intergenerational memory transmission, part of the empirical analysis focuses on the controversies surrounding the place of June 4 in the secondary school curriculum. Besides, the chapter examines efforts by the Alliance and other activist groups to establish enduring “sites of memory” for Tiananmen. Specifically, the struggles surrounding the placement of June 4-related monuments on university campuses and the project of a permanent June 4th Museum are examined.

This work is based on the Hardware development of the Transmission part for the communication inside the satellite. Our goal is move as much as possible of the software part into the Field-programmable gate array (FPGA) matrix due to the single event upsets (SEU). This project is part of the collaborative project called “Mission: NET@SPACE”. It was chosen by the European Commission under the Seventh Framework Program for Research (FP7) to develop an Avionics Full Duplex Switched Ethernet (AFDX) demonstrator based in FPGA. It has to be able to receive and transmit frames and enhance the robustness. The scheduling of the protocol should also be moved into the hardware, by still keeping a small footprint of the whole design. In this paper, we introduce the theory and used technologies, the project flow and development, including the decisions and milestones, to arrive at the end to the further possibilities and conclusions.

With the wide application of gasoline direct injection system, its noise problem is becoming increasingly prominent under serious competitive environment. As the primary noise source of the engine in idle condition, the significant noise generated by the low-to-high pressure transmission part of high-pressure fuel pump becomes more and more serious. This paper focuses on the driving component of high-pressure fuel pump, the roller tappet, and experimentally studies effect factors of impact noise induced by it at engine idle. Both the impact occurrence time and position are analyzed from the combined vibration acceleration and crankshaft/camshaft rotation angle signals in the time domain according to the structure and kinematic mechanism of the roller tappet. The influences of the axial clearance between roller and tappet shell, the engine rotation speed and the lubrication conditions are investigated by experiments. The experimental results show that the lubrication is the primary factor for the roller tappet induced impact noise reduction. A significant improvement about 83% can be achieved under pressure lubrication.

In this study, the basic configuration and operation concept of a CO2 terminal were identified by conducting a system engineering process. The performance goal of a CO2 terminal was determined by requirement analysis. Then, functions and timelines were derived by functional analysis to meet the performance goal. Equipment to perform the functions were defined and finally, a process flow block diagram of the CO2 terminal was acquired. The CO2 terminal in this study consisted of three parts. First, the CO2 loading/unloading part is responsible for liquid CO2 unloading from the carrier and loading vapor CO2 onto the carrier. Secondly, the liquid CO2 transmission part extracts liquid CO2 from the storage tanks and increases the pressure until it satisfies the offshore pipeline transportation condition. The vapor-treatment part collects boil-off gas, generates vapor CO2, and charges the storage tanks with vapor CO2 to control the pressure of the storage tanks that discharge liquid CO2. Finally, the study results were compared with a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal. The biggest difference between the CO2 terminal in this study and the LNG terminal is that a vaporizer is essential in the CO2 terminal due to the smaller storage capacity of the CO2 terminal and, therefore, the lower amount of boil-off gas.

Information processing by the nervous system depends on neurotransmitter release from synaptic vesicles (SVs) at the presynaptic active zone. Molecular components of the cytomatrix at the active zone (CAZ) regulate the final stages of the SV cycle preceding exocytosis and thereby shape the efficacy and plasticity of synaptic transmission. Part of this regulation is reflected by a physical association of SVs with filamentous CAZ structures via largely unknown protein interactions. The very C-terminal region of Bruchpilot (Brp), a key component of the Drosophila melanogaster CAZ, participates in SV tethering. Here, we identify the conserved SNARE regulator Complexin (Cpx) in an in vivo screen for molecules that link the Brp C terminus to SVs. Brp and Cpx interact genetically and functionally. Both proteins promote SV recruitment to the Drosophila CAZ and counteract short-term synaptic depression. Analyzing SV tethering to active zone ribbons of cpx3 knockout mice supports an evolutionarily conserved role of Cpx upstream of SNARE complex assembly.

ABSTRACTInformation processing by the nervous system depends on the release of neurotransmitter from synaptic vesicles (SVs) at the presynaptic active zone. Molecular components of the cytomatrix at the active zone (CAZ) regulate the final stages of the SV cycle preceding exocytosis and thereby shape the efficacy and plasticity of synaptic transmission. Part of this regulation is reflected by a physical association of SVs with filamentous CAZ structures. However, our understanding of the protein interactions underlying SV tethering by the CAZ is far from complete. The very C-terminal region of Bruchpilot (Brp), a key component of the Drosophila CAZ, participates in SV tethering. Yet so far, no vesicular or cytoplasmic molecules have been reported to engage in an interaction with Brp’s C-terminus. Here, we carried out an in vivo screen for molecules that link the Brp C-terminus to SVs. This strategy identified the conserved SNARE (soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor (NSF) attachment protein receptor) regulator Complexin (Cpx) as a vesicular interaction partner of Brp. We show that Brp and Cpx interact genetically and functionally. Interfering with Cpx targeting to SVs mirrored distinctive features of a C-terminal Brp truncation: impaired SV recruitment to the CAZ and enhanced short-term synaptic depression. Extending the study beyond Drosophila synapses, we interrogated active zones of mouse rod bipolar cells. Here, too, we collected evidence for an evolutionarily conserved role of Cpx upstream of SNARE complex assembly where it participates in SV tethering to the CAZ.
