A fully automated house must ensure all the appliances must be connection and provide a smart way of working for the human. The insight of Internet of Things (IoT) network provision the necessary platform to implement the automated home. The proposed system emphasizes, how all the appliances would be connected to IoT to ensure fully automated home. In this framework the smart home has been divided into various areas like smart kitchen, smart gardening, home safety and security system, and smart lightning system. The reliable protocol stack has been utilized to provide efficient communication along with proper security measures. The reliable protocol suite works on top of MQTT and TCP to ensure reliable communication. The smart gateway utilized for this framework and provides firewall security as with a two-phase filtering mechanism as well as scalability. among all the appliances in the home.

Machine Learning (ML) techniques can play a pivotal role in energy efficient IoT networks by reducing the unnecessary data from transmission. With such an aim, this work combines a low-power, yet computationally capable processing unit, with an NB-IoT radio into a smart gateway that can run ML algorithms to smart transmit visual data over the NB-IoT network. The proposed smart gateway utilizes supervised and unsupervised ML algorithms to optimize the visual data in terms of their size and quality before being transmitted over the air. This relaxes the channel occupancy from an individual NB-IoT radio, reduces its energy consumption and also minimizes the transmission time of data. Our on-field results indicate up to 93% reductions in the number of NB-IoT radio transmissions, up to 90.5% reductions in the NB-IoT radio energy consumption and up to 90% reductions in the data transmission time.

This paper focuses on the interdisciplinary research on the design of a smart gateway for managing the dynamic error code testing collected and generated by the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) from the automotive industry. The techniques used to exchange information between the ECU code errors and knowledge bases, based on data fusion methods, allowed us to consolidate and ensure data reliability, and then to optimize processed data in our distributed electronic systems, as the basic state for Industry 4.0 standards. At the same time, they offered optimized data packets when the gateway was tested as a service integrator for ECU maintenance. The embedded programming solutions offered us safe, reliable, and flexible data packet management results on both communication systems (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Provider (TCP/IP) and Controller Area Network (CAN) Bus) on the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) tested for diesel, high-pressure common rail engines. The main goal of this paper is to provide a solution for a smart, hardware–software, Industry-4.0-ready gateway applicable in the automotive industry.

As the number of context-aware and unique data extracting and computing has grown leaps and bounds, paving way to their application in many platforms, Internet of Things (IoT) has gained a lot of importance in recent years. Using IoT, it is possible to connect any number of objects and in any context, giving rise to a diverse range of services. Hence power management, data storage, service discovery, service management, service creation and resource management need a more sophisticated mechanism and a better infrastructure. However, a single IoT that is power-constrained will not be able to tackle all the data that is generated. Hence cloud computing plays a crucial role by integrating with the IoT in such a way that the future internet and envisioned IoT is achievable. There are a number of challenges involved of which data trimming is common challenge. Due to unnecessary communication, the data this sent to the cloud may be interrupted. Hence to prevent this, data is initially preprocessed following which it is trimmed and then transferred to the cloud. This aspect of data processing can be carried out through Fog Computing or Smart Network that serves as a smart gateway. In this paper, we have introduced a novel concept Fog computing as the smart gateway. The results have been analysed and tested with respect to bulk-data synchronizstion Delay, bulk-data upload delay, jitter, synchronization delay and upload delay.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a collection of objects such as sensors, actuators, and processors, which interconnected within a specific network to perform a task collaboratively. The IoT is one of the prevalent technologies, which has developed dramatically in recent years. Its reputation derives from its relevance and role in employing things in the best way, starting with smartphones that opened new horizons in control technologies and later developing new ideas regarding cloud-computing services. A smart gateway plays an essential role in the IoT applications that responsible for enabling communication between the network layer and the ubiquitous sensors network layer. IoT gateways are methods that operate with influential data centers as a point of communication between lower-end users. IoT gateways connect the heterogeneous devices in use and carry out many tasks to accomplish the computing mission. This work searches how IoT gateway's function and how they interact. In particular, it lists interface issues related to IoT gateways. In this paper, we research IoT and Smart Gateways and address Smart Gateways problems and computing techniques to promote IoT programs' stable transition to the Smart Gateway.
