This paper presents studies on the processing of enrichment tailings as a component of a raw mixture in order to obtain cement clinker, with simultaneous distillation of zinc. Thermodynamic studies were carried out in the temperature range of 600–1600 °C using the software application “HSC Chemistry 6” developed by the metallurgical company Outokumpu (Finland). As a result of the conducted studies, we found that zinc contributes to the intensification of mineral formation of cement clinker. In particular, it was found that the formation of belite is possible in the temperature range from 990.7 to 1500 °C with Gibbs energy values of −0.01 and −323.8 kJ (which is better than the standard process by −11.4 kJ), respectively; the formation of alite is possible in the temperature range from 982.9 to 1500 °C with Gibbs energy values of −0.05 and −402.1 kJ (better than the standard process by −11.4 kJ), respectively; the formation of tricalcium aluminate is thermodynamically possible in the temperature range from 600 °C at ΔGTo = −893.8 kJ to 1500 °C at ΔGTo = −1899.3 kJ (better than the standard process by −1570.1 kJ), respectively; and the formation of four calcium aluminoferrite is possible in the temperature range from 600 °C at ΔGTo = −898.9 kJ to 1500 °C at ΔGTo = −1959.3 kJ (better than the standard process by −1570.2 kJ), respectively, with simultaneous distillation of zinc into a gaseous state for its further capture.

Based on the analysis of the identified vulnerabilities in the production activities of a full-cycle metallurgical company on the example of NLMK PJSC, as well as the methods of assigning ESG ratings to organizations in the non-financial sector of the economy by leading Russian and foreign rating agencies, the identification of risks arising from the transition of such organizations to the principles of sustainable development is carried out. The results obtained can serve as a basis for risk analysis of metallurgical companies and the development of recommendations for improving their risk management systems.

The subject of this study is the processes of strategic management of the innovative and investment development of Russian ferrous metallurgy enterprises, and the goal is to develop recommendations for improving these processes. The work uses general scientific and special methods of scientific knowledge: systemic, functional, struc-tural and investment analysis, evolutionary and dynamic analysis. Revitalization of innovation and investment activities in ferrous metallurgy requires the concentration of investment resources, the use of such methods of investment and investment as real options and venture investment technologies, which in turn requires appropriate organizational and structural support. A model of the investment portfolio of a metallurgical company is proposed and the need to create an organizational structure for the concentration of investment resources is substantiated, which will reduce the level of risk of ongoing projects and increase their investment attractiveness. This model will make it possible to intensify investment and, as a result, innovation.

The article considers the essence of staff involvement as an indicator of a certain attitude of employees to the organization and the events taking place in it. The key factors that influence the involvement of the staff of a large company are highlighted. It is proved that this indicator cannot act as a key performance indicator that management should focus on. A high level of involvement is possible when employees themselves feel and realize their responsibility for the events taking place in the company. The results of a study of the level of involvement of personnel of a large industrial metallurgical company are presented, on the basis of which proposals for improving this indicator are formulated.

The industrial sites of the smelters of the Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company have accumulated a lot of anthropogenic waste, the processing of which is currently economically impractical. These primarily include tailings and beneficiation tailings, as well as waste granulated and copper smelting slag. This article conducts studies on technologies for x-ray-radiometric/magnetic separation enrichment of discard slags of MMSK as well as using jigging machines. Slag and slag enrichment tailings are used for cement production and road construction. For complex processing of fine copper smelting dusts OJSC Chelyabinsk zinc plant developed, tested and implemented a special technology. After implementation of ”Actions to process industrial waste generated by UMMC enterprises at metallurgical enterprises of UMMC-Holding Corp.”, the following were noted: concentrators and special beneficiation facilities process slag; R&D on complete processing of concentrator’s tailings was conducted; smelting dust was not stored but processed in full; the technology of implementing Waelz process for processing of steel smelting dust has been developed and commercially tested; the technology for extraction of copper and precious metals from pyrite dross is to be improved. The purpose of the study is to evaluate the company's project managers on the basis of a competency model developed in accordance with international standards in the field of project management to inform management about their level of knowledge and identify needs of the Training. The theoretical significance of the work consists in the use of the competence approach and the competence model as an effective tool for evaluating project managers. The practical relevance of the research is to solve the problem of dissatisfaction of investors with the results of the projects. During the research, information about project management is summarized, internal regulations and local acts of the company are studied, with the participation of one of the authors of the article as an employee of the research organization conducted included observation (in real production process conditions), as well as the first stage of the evaluation. As a proposal to improve the current situation, a program was developed, a three-stage comprehensive assessment of 36 employees was organized and conducted, with the establishment of a rating and the formation of individual development plans.
