This chapter argues that abiders have an academic advantage in secondary school. This advantage stems from a synergy between schooling and religion: both institutions strive to maintain social order. Because religion and schooling promote the same ideals, the types of children who thrive in one institution are also likely to thrive in the other. To make this case, the chapter examines how Protestantism has shaped the current form of schooling and explains the importance of the “hidden curriculum”—the rules, routines, and regulations. Children raised with religious restraint are stellar at navigating the hidden curriculum. Abiders’ God-centered self-concept leads them to be deeply cooperative and conscientious. They do what is asked of them, they are kind to their peers, and they are self-disciplined. In return, they reap tangible academic rewards: they earn better grades. This is referred to as the “abider advantage.”

Every educational institution provides scholarships that are offered to its students with specified requirements, as well as at SMK Negeri 1 Sukawati. Students who receive scholarships are students who meet the requirements and criteria that have been determined. The criteria determined are report cards, absenteeism, achievement, organizational involvement, and violations. However, some problems arise when determining the prospective recipients of achievement scholarships at SMKN 1 Sukawati, particularly many students who have achievements outside of school activities or non-academic achievements do not get scholarships. One of the criteria-set is to have achievement, which means achievement is not only academic achievement but also non-academic. The design of a system that can provide recommendations to decision makers is needed, so that it is right on target in providing opportunities for students who meet the criteria considered. The Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method is used in this study because it can choose the best alternative from several alternatives. The results obtained in this study in the form of ranking and then make a recommendation to receiving a scholarship.

Setelah menganalisis pencapaian mutu dilanjutkan dengan upaya kepala sekolah dalam membina tenaga pendidik dan tenaga kependidikan lewat program pendidikan dan pelatihan, MGMP dan IHT.Quality mapping is carried out to provide an overview of the achievement or fulfillment of the National Education Standards (SNP). This research focuses on the problems: 1) how is the quality mapping of educators and education staff based on the quality mapping instrument at SMPN 1 Keling Jepara? 2) how to improve the quality of educators and education staffs based on the standards of educators and education personnels or staffs at SMPN 1 Keling Jepara? This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The results showed that the quality report card as a result of quality mapping showed an increase in grades from the previous year, this was evidenced by the addition of teachers and teacher qualifications that almost reached the National Education Standards (SNP). Progress has also occurred in school principals who have met the qualifications as professional school principals, there are also administrative staff standards who must have appropriate qualified administrative personnel but there is still a lot of data that is not legible by the dapodik application which makes the standard report cards of educators and education personnels have no grade. After analyzing the quality achievement, it is continued with the principal's efforts in fostering educators and education staffs through education and training programs, MGMP and IHT.

University of Harapan Medan is one of the private universities in North Sumatra which has computer-based study programs such as Informatics Engineering and Information Systems. Every year this college receives many registrations from students who have completed their education at the school stage. The large number of incoming student data makes it difficult for the admin to select new students who will register. In this study using the C4.5 algorithm data mining method to map the pattern of student admissions selection in the field of Engineering and computers. The attributes used are the average value of report cards (high, enough, low), basic academic ability tests (very high, high, medium, low, very low), basic computer knowledge tests (very high, high, enough, low, very low) and interviews (good, bad). Data mining is a mathematical calculation process that uses algorithms and requires large data. While the C4.5 algorithm is an algorithm that processes data by calculating entrophy and information gain, where after the calculation process is carried out, those who get the largest information gain value will become nodes and branches. This C4.5 algorithm will describe a decision tree that will form a pattern in student selection. The results of this study indicate that in mapping the selection pattern of interview attributes into level 1 nodes, the attributes of the basic computer knowledge test become the level 1 branch, the attributes of the basic academic ability test become the level 2 branch and the attribute average value of report cards becomes the level 3 branch.

Background Publicly available report cards for transplant centers emphasize posttransplant survival and obscure the fact that some centers reject many of the donor organs they are offered (reflecting a conservative donor acceptance strategy), while others accept a broader range of donor offers (reflecting an open donor acceptance strategy). Objective We assessed how the provision of salient information about donor acceptance practices and waitlist survival rates affected evaluation judgments of hospital report cards given by laypeople and medical trainees. Methods We tested 5 different report card formats across 4 online randomized experiments ( n1 = 1,003, n2 = 105, n3 = 123, n4 = 807) in the same hypothetical decision. The primary outcome variable was a binary choice between transplant hospitals (one with an open donor acceptance strategy and the other with a conservative donor acceptance strategy). Results Report cards featuring salient information about donor organ utilization rates (transplant outcomes categorized by quality of donor offers accepted) or overall survival rates (outcomes from both waitlist and transplanted patients) led lay participants (studies 1, 3, and 4) and medical trainees (study 2) to evaluate transplant centers with open donor acceptance strategies more favorably than centers with conservative strategies. Limitations Due to the nature of the decision, a hypothetical scenario was necessary for both ethical and practical reasons. Results may not generalize to transplant clinicians or patients faced with the decision of where to join the transplant waitlist. Conclusions These findings suggest that performance evaluations for transplant centers may vary significantly based not only on what outcome information is presented in report cards but also how the information is displayed.
