Universities are important sources of knowledge and key members of the regional innovation system. The key problem in Chinese universities is the low efficiency of the scientific and technological (S&T) transformation, which limits the promotion of regional innovation and economic development. This article proposes the three-stage efficiency analytical framework, which regards it as a complex and interactive process. Avoiding the problem of considering the input and output of university S&T transformation as a “black box” and neglecting the links among different transformation stages. The super efficiency network SBM model is applied to the heterogeneous region of the Yangtze River Economic Belt. Empirical research proves that university S&T transformation has not been effectively improved and the scientific resources invested in universities have not been efficiently utilized in recent years. Generally, Despite the correlation between regional economy and transformation efficiency, the exclusive increase in resources is not enough. Regional openness and the quality of research talents are key factors for the application of technological innovation and technology marketization. Universities should not only pursue the number of research outputs but pay more attention to high-quality knowledge production to overcome difficulties in research achievements transformation.

The impulse for the recent transformations in the Arab world came from the Maghreb. Research on the region has been on the rise since, yet much remains to be done when it comes to interdisciplinary comparative research. The Maghreb is a heterogeneous region that deserves thorough investigation. This volume focuses on Entanglements as a cross-field and cross-lingual concept to generate a new approach to the region and its inner interdependencies as well as exchanges with other regions. Eminent researchers conceptualize Entanglements through the description of various thematic fields and actors in motion, addressing culture, politics, social affairs, and economics.

Adequate water resources management includes understanding patterns and spatiotemporal variability of precipitation, as this variable is determinant for ecosystems’ stability, food security, and most human activities. Based on satellite estimations validated through ground measurements from 59 meteorological stations, the objective of this study is to evaluate the long-term spatiotemporal variability and trends of the average monthly precipitation in the Magdalena Department, Colombia, for the 1981–2018 period. This heterogeneous region comprises many different ecoregions in its 23,188 km2 area. The analysis of spatial variability allowed for the determination of four different subregions based on the differences in the average values of precipitation and the degree of rainfall variability. The trend analysis indicates that the current rainfall patterns contradict previous estimates of a progressive decrease in annual averages due to climate change in the study region, as most of the department does not exhibit statistically significant trends, except for the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta area, where this study found reductions between 10 mm yr−1 and 30 mm yr−1. The findings of this study also suggest the existence of some links between precipitation patterns with regional phenomena of climate variability and solar activity.

Ferroelectric ceramic materials based on the (1-x-y) NaNbO3-xKNbO3-yCd0.5NbO3 system (x = 0.05–0.65, y = 0.025–0.30, Δx = 0.05) were obtained by a two-stage solid-phase synthesis followed by sintering using conventional ceramic technology. It was found that the region of pure solid solutions extends to x = 0.70 at y = 0.05 and, with increasing y, it narrows down to x ≤ 0.10 at y = 0.25. Going out beyond the specified concentrations leads to the formation of a heterogeneous region. It is shown that the grain landscape of all studied ceramics is formed during recrystallization sintering in the presence of a liquid phase, the source of which is unreacted components (Na2CO3 with Tmelt. = 1126 K, K2CO3 with Tmelt. = 1164 K, KOH with Tmelt. = 677 K) and low-melting eutectics in niobate mixtures (NaNbO3, Tmelt. = 1260 K, KNbO3, Tmelt. = 1118 K). A study of the electrophysical properties at room temperature showed the nonmonotonic behavior of all dependences with extrema near symmetry transitions, which corresponds to the logic of changes in the electrophysical parameters in systems with morphotropic phase boundaries. An analysis of the evolution of dielectric spectra made it possible to distinguish three groups of solid solutions: classical ferroelectrics (y = 0.05–0.10), ferroelectrics with a diffuse phase transition (y = 0.30), and ferroelectrics relaxors (y = 0.15–0.25). A conclusion about the expediency of using the obtained data in the development of materials and devices based on such materials has been made.

Abstract Vestibular information is ubiquitous and often processed jointly with visual, somatosensory and proprioceptive information. Among the cortical brain regions associated with human vestibular processing, area OP2 in the parietal operculum has been proposed as vestibular core region. However, delineating responses uniquely to vestibular stimulation in this region using neuroimaging is challenging for several reasons: Firstly, the parietal operculum is a cytoarchitectonically heterogeneous region responding to multisensory stimulation. Secondly, artificial vestibular stimulation evokes confounding somatosensory and nociceptive responses blurring responses contributing to vestibular perception. Furthermore, immediate effects of vestibular stimulation on the organization of functional networks have not been investigated in detail yet. Here, we compared two equally salient stimuli - galvanic vestibular stimulation (GVS) and galvanic nociceptive stimulation (GNS)- to disentangle the processing of both modalities in the parietal operculum and characterize their effects on functional network architecture. GNS and GVS gave joint responses in area OP1,3,4, and the anterior and middle insula, but not in area OP2. Contrasting both stimulation modalities resulted in stronger responses in parts of the parietal operculum adjacent to OP3 and OP4 during GVS, whereas GNS evoked stronger responses in area OP1,3 and 4. Our results underline the importance of considering this common multisensory trunk when interpreting vestibular neuroimaging experiments and further underpin the role of area OP2 in central vestibular processing. Global network changes were found during GNS, but not during GVS. This lack of network reconfiguration despite the saliency of GVS may reflect the continuous processing of vestibular information in the awake human.

Mascot is a promotional media that is familiar in promotional media. Several companies to universities have mascots as icons that can represent higher education. UNDIKMA as a new joint-form campus has not used the media in the form of mascots for promotion. considering that NTB is a heterogeneous region with respect to ethnicity, religion, and race, so it requires a mascot as a brand ambassador for UNDIKMA. This is important because in the NTB region there is no tertiary institution that has a mascot. In the previous study, there was no study on mascot creation for universities. The purpose of this research is to design a mascot with a method approach that puts forward the target audience. While the method used is the Design Thinking Method developed by Tim Brown. Design thinking is a way to solve ambiguous and unfamiliar problems, rediscover problems in a human-centered way, brainstorm to generate multiple ideas, and take a hands-on approach. Very useful for prototyping and testing. Design thinking also includes continuous experimentation, such as sketching, prototyping, experimenting, and trying out different concepts and ideas. The target outcome of this research is to hopefully create a mascot design. In addition, it is also hoped that the output in the form of a mascot design guide line will also be successfully written. So that the application of the mascot can be correct and in accordance with the objectives expected by the designer.

The size effects during phase transformations in systems of submicro- and manometer sizes are expressed in significant changes in phase equilibria. Examples of ternary phase diagrams small volume systems in the literature are virtually absent. The size effect is demonstrated by creating a series of phase diagrams of an aniline-methylcyclopentane-hexane solution. The liquid-liquid phase equilibrium was simulated by the methods of chemical thermodynamics for particles (droplets) with a core-shell configuration with a radius of 100 and 50 nm at temperatures of 25 and 45^oC. Reducing the volume of this system is accompanied by a change in the heterogeneous region, the appearance of metastable states that are absent in the macrophase, and increase the thermodynamic stability of the homogeneous solution.
