Objective: Diabetes is a common chronic disorder in which there is a high risk of physical complications and psychological problems such as hypoglycemia and inability to express emotions. Psychological interventions can be effective in this regard. The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) training on emotional expressiveness and fear of hypoglycemia (FOH) in patients with type 2 diabetes visiting Yazd Diabetes Center. Materials and Methods: This study was a quasi-experimental study with a pretest and posttest design. The statistical population was all patients with type 2 diabetes visiting Yazd Diabetes Center in 2020. Forty men and women were selected using purposeful sampling and were randomly allocated to case and control groups. The case group received 8 sessions of MBSR training, 2 hours each and the control group received no interventions. Emotional Expressiveness Questionnaire (EEQ) and the Hypoglycemia Fear Survey (HFS) were used to collect data. Results: Results of ANCOVA showed that MBSR training significantly increases emotional expressiveness and its components (P-value< 0.0001) and decreases the fear of hypoglycemia (P-value< 0.0001) in patients with type 2 diabetes (P-value< 0.035). Conclusion: Based on the results of the study, MBSR training could improve emotional expressiveness, prevent hypoglycemia and reduce the fear of it.

IntroductionLipohypertrophy is a common complication of exposure to insulin therapy. Despite the prevalence of lipohypertrophy and its potentially hazardous effects on glucose regulation, it remains a relatively understudied problem in diabetes. The objective of this study was to characterize lipohypertrophic tissue using ultrasound in adults with type 1 diabetes.Research design and methodsAn observational study of 74 people with type 1 diabetes from a diabetes center in South East London. Participants’ insulin exposed areas were scanned with ultrasound, with a high-frequency linear probe (6–13 MHz). The observed tissue changes were described, measured and graded according to nodule size and thickness of the dermal layer.ResultsParticipants mean age and diabetes duration were 40.6 (±14.2) and 18.3 (±10.9) years, respectively, and 60% (n=44) were male. A total of 740 lipohypertrophic nodules were observed, ranging from 1.8 mm to 40 mm in width. The mean (SD/range) number of nodules per participants was 10.4 (±6.2/1–29). Delineation between the dermal layers was disrupted in all current injection sites. In 52 participants (70%), there was a 30% increase in dermal thickness compared with local none injected tissue, and in 36 participants (48%) the increase was 50%. The level of thickness was >3 mm in the abdominal areas of 22 (40%) of these participants and in thighs of eight participants (17.8%). Hypoechogenic areas suggestive of necrotic tissue were observed within the lipohypertrophic nodules of 22 (30%) participants. Needle length and nodule depth were correlated (r=0.69, p<0.001). A conceptual model of the insulin exposed tissue changes observed was constructed.ConclusionsThe study confirms that insulin-exposed tissue changes are heterogenous and has provided conceptual and grading frameworks for classifying these changes. Further studies are required to establish the clinical implications of these classifications, in relation to glucose regulation and other clinical parameters.

Introduction: Vitamin D is a hormonal precursor that in addition to known roles, may have an important effect on mental disorders such as depression. Therefore, this study was performed to determine the extent of vitamin D deficiency and depression and their relationship in thyroid patients referred to The clinic of Yazd Diabetes Center has been performed. Methods: The present study is a cross-sectional-analytical study that was performed on 150 thyroid patients referred to the Yazd Diabetes Center Clinic. Results: In this study, 150 thyroid patients including 55 men and 11. women with a mean age of 41.40± 7.61years participated. The mean score of Beck depression among these patients was 28.71± 8.34 .The mean level of vitamin D in these patients was 20.58 ± 7.21  ng / ml so that a total of 85% of thyroid patients were in the group of insufficient levels of vitamin D. A significant negative correlation was observed between depression score and serum vitamin D levels (r = -0.79 and p <0.001). Conclusion: The results of this study indicate a high prevalence of depression and vitamin D deficiency in thyroid patients. Another finding of this study was the relationship between vitamin D deficiency and depression, so that the less vitamin D in the body, the lower the rate of depression in The person becomes more. The use of vitamin D supplements in the treatment of thyroid patients with depression, as a clinical trial, can be a good solution in the treatment of patients.

Background: The present study was conducted with the aim to determine the knowledge, attitude and practice of diabetes amongst population. Methods: Hospital based study was conducted on DM patients attending the diabetes center, medicine OPD and medicine IPD within the study period were recruited in the study after taking written inform consent. Results: Regarding knowledge about complications of diabetes i.e.  heart disease stated to be the highest in patients which was 201 (40.2%) followed by wound healing110(22.00%), eye disease 102(20.4%), peripheral neuropathy 96 (19.2%) and kidney diseases 92(18.4%). Conclusion: From our study it was concluded that Knowledge about what disease is, was good and regarding symptoms (frequent urination) was also good but complication(Heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, eye disease, peripheral neuropathy, wound healing) was poor.
