The paper briefly introduces the form and construction method of a new reinforced concrete composite wall (RCCW) with inner insulating layer of polystyrene panel. The thermal insulation properties such as heat resistance, heat exchange resistance and heat transfer coefficient of the RCCW were measured by the protection chest method, six specimens in dimensions of 1450mm×1450mm×300mm were cast with the same thickness of prototype walls of building envelop, three kinds of linkages of the RCCW were considered, and two surfaces of the specimen were tested respectively as the heat bearing surface to simulated different heat resources. Based on the tests, the effects of linkages and heat resources on thermal insulation properties of the RCCW are analyzed, some improvements are proposed for reducing the heat-bridge effects as much as possible.

There were some problems in the building envelop of Huangmuchang village of Zhangjiawan town of Tongzhou zone Beijing city, as a demonstration village of energy saving retrofit in construction of new countryside. The problems include big heat-transfer coefficient, great cold air infiltration capacity, heat drawback, cold bridge and heat bridge etc. In this paper, how to decrease unit area heat load and improve thermal comfort by building envelop retrofit was introduced. The obvious improvements were obtained by comparing the interior temperature of the retrofitted building with that of un-retrofit building.

An on-site test on envelope of a typical steel residential building in cold region is performed. The testing results provide evaluation bases for the energy-saving effects of the steel residential building. In order to evaluate the main factors that influence energy dissipation of the building and estimate the main energy dissipation positions, the heat transfer coefficient K of envelope and its actual energy consumption are calculated based on the testing data. The results indicate that the building envelope has good heat storage property and it could keep indoor thermal stability; the steel frames and windows have heat bridge effects. Through calculations of the energy consumption of envelope, it is showed that the tested building only meet the requirement of energy saving by 50%, instead of 65%; the external walls and windows are main energy dissipation parts. Finally the thermal design recommendations about steel residential buildings are proposed.

In order to improve the heat-insulating capability of the refuge chamber’s shell and reduce energy consumption of the cooling system, the horizontal cylindrical mobile refuge chamber for coal mine was taken as the research object. By selecting two connection types between the inner shell and the outer shell for calculation, which were direct connection type and indirect connection type, and comparing these with the connectionless heat transfer, the heat transfer process in the refuge chamber subjected to thermal loadings of constant temperature was respectively discussed with numerical analysis method. Effect of heat bridges to heat transfer of the refuge chamber’s shell was analyzed. The analysis results showed that the average heat flux through direct connection heat bridge and indirect connection heat bridge had respectively increased by 668% and 30% than that of the connectionless heat transfer. The influencing scope of the former was larger than the latter’s. And more heat entered the refuge chamber through the direct connection heat bridge. Therefore, the indirect connection type should be used in the design of the refuge chamber’s shell.

The new reinforced concrete composite wall (RCCW) with inner insulating layer of polystyrene panel was developed to improve the durability of external thermal insulation plate on walls. The composite structure and construction method of the RCCW is briefly introduced in this paper. The thermal insulation behaviors such as conduct heat coefficient and total heat resistance of RCCW are tested by the protection chest method, the measured and calculated results of thermal insulation properties of the RCCW are compared with each other, the effect of heat-bridge resulted from connected concrete supports of specimen and bottom side concrete of specimen covering inner insulating layer on the test results is discussed.

To improve the durability of external thermal insulation plate on walls, the new reinforced concrete composite wall(RCCW) with inner insulating layer of polystyrene panel was developed. The paper introduces the thermal insulation tests of the RCCWs by the protection chest method, and studies the method for eliminating the effect of heat-bridge on the test results of conduct heat coefficient of the RCCW. The results show that the test value of conduct heat coefficient of the RCCW was obviously affected by the heat-bridge in specimen caused by the connected concrete such as support and concrete cover around the polystyrene panel, the practical value can be obtained by mean of taking off the percent of heat-bridge effect.
