Abstract This paper presents the mathematical model and simulation of a thermal system for heating and supplying hot water to industrial or residential consumers consisting of a heat exchanger on the heating circuit and a heat exchanger provided with an accumulation tank on the domestic hot water circuit, this scheme is generally adopted in the industrial thermal points and increasingly in module-type thermal points for residential consumers. The mathematical model is based on the mathematical equations describing this system and developed using the MATLAB - Simulink program. Thus, as a result of the simulations, we can see the evolutions in time of the water temperatures on the heating circuit and the domestic hot water circuit, as well as the quantity of heat delivered by them.

Abstract. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, organizations have been forced to use social media and digital applications to carry out routine tasks. This posed several complications and challenges that hindered harmonic interaction between managers and their subordinates. This study investigates the indirect association between toxic leadership and proactive work behavior via psychological safety (PYS). We also investigate the role of perceived insider status (PIS) as a moderator in the association between toxic leadership and PYS as well as the indirect connection between toxic leadership and proactive work behavior. The work is based on the timelag results of 282 supervisor-employee dyads from different small and mid-sized information technology (IT) firms. The results show that toxic leadership has a significant impact on employee PSY and proactive work behavior as well as revealing that PIS substantially mitigated the negative effects of toxic leadership on employee PYS. Similarly, PIS influences the mediating role of PYS in the association between toxic leadership and proactive work behavior of employees. This research is helpful for academics and practitioners involved in human-resource practices in the IT industry.

Perceived control (PC) is considered as one of the most basic psychological needs of human beings, and it is also an important index to measure individual mental health. Previous studies have shown that negative life experience is an important risk factor for predicting PC. With the prevalence of cyberbullying among college students, this study explored how cybervictimization (CV) was related to the PC, mediated through the personal belief in a just world (PBJW). Besides, this study examined the moderating role of interpersonal forgiveness (IF) in the direct relationship between CV and PC and the indirect connection through PBJW. It was expected that CV would negatively predict the PC, and the PBJW would mediate this relationship. The direct and indirect effects were stronger in individuals with low IF than those with high IF. In this study, 837 Chinese college students were invited to conduct an online survey using a convenient sampling method. Participants were asked to complete the measurement of CV, PBJW, IF, and PC. After controlling gender and age, the results revealed that CV could directly and negatively predict college students’ PC and indirectly predict the PC through the mediation of PBJW. Additionally, IF moderated the effect of CV on PBJW and PC. Unlike what we expected, the effect of CV on PBJW was stronger for low IF individuals than those with high IF, while the effect of CV on PC was stronger for high IF individuals than those with low IF. The unexpected orientation and other results were discussed.

Simulation games are a method of simulating modern joint actions of people in order to solve a narrow problem in the form of a model, used in almost all spheres of public life. Widespread both in Ukraine and abroad, most researchers explain the possibility of their repeated use to solve common problems and achieve certain results [1-3]. Sociologists often refer to the modeling game as a social technology. From the point of view of social technology, the modeling game belongs to the sociological means, to the practical activity of the sociologist and is aimed at providing managerial activity, as well as at defining and transforming a social object. The attribution of the simulation game to the field of management is due to the fact that this type of game unites all members of the group into a single system with the need to make a joint decision. The subject of the study is the relationships and problems that have a direct or indirect connection with the field of a particular activity, and the games played in the work team are aimed at organizing the most productive way of functioning of members of this group.

The COX-2 protein, encoded by the PTGS2 gene, is related to tumor progression in adult and pediatric cancer. In neuroblastoma (NB), COX-2 was associated with loss of heterozygosity on the long arm of chromosome 11 (Ch11q loss of heterozygosity, LOH), defining a subset of aggressive disease. The present study aimed to investigate the protein expression of COX-2 in a set of 82 pre-chemotherapy (CT) and 20 post-CT NB specimens and its correlation with clinical and genomic data. A systems biology approach elucidated the network interaction of PTGS2 and other inflammation-related genes with those codified in the Ch11q deleted regions. The results indicated a significantly higher expression of COX-2 in post-CT samples. In addition, a significant positive correlation between the presence of aberrations in Ch11q and COX-2 levels and an indirect connection between the COX-2 gene and extracellular matrix remodeling (ECM)-related proteins were observed. Our findings suggest that deregulation of ECM proteolysis in Ch11q–deleted NB could elicit stromal alterations, triggering inflammatory responses via COX-2 overexpression, ultimately supporting NB progression.

Among specialists prevails the primitive view, according to Prof. G.S. Ivanov, on descriptive geometry only as on a "grammar of a technical language", as it characterized V.I. Kurdyumov in the XIX Century. If in the century before last his definition was actual, although many contemporaries had a different opinion, then a century and a half later this definition became outdated, especially since have been revealed the close relationships of descriptive geometry with related sections: analytical, parametric, differential geometry, etc., and descriptive geometry became an applied mathematical science. In this paper it has been shown that an image is obtained as a result of display (projection). In this connection, according to prof. N.A. Sobolev, "All visual images – documentary, geometrographic, and creative ones – are formed on the projection principle". In other words, they belong, in essence, to descriptive geometry. Thus, all made by hand creative images – drawings, paintings, sculptures – can be attributed with great confidence to descriptive geometry as a theory of images. These creative images, of course, have a non-obvious projection origin, nevertheless, according to Prof. N.A. Sobolev, "They, including the most abstract fantasies, are essentially the projection ones". Further in the paper it has been shown which disciplines apply some or other of graphic models, and has been considered a number of drawings belonging to different textbooks, in which graphic models are present. Thus, clearly, and also referring to the authorities in the area of images and descriptive geometry, it has been proved that each of the mentioned textbooks has a direct or indirect connection with descriptive geometry, and descriptive geometry itself is present in all textbooks, at least, in the technical and medical ones.

The Brushless Doubly-Fed Reluctance Machine (BDFRM) has been widely investigated in numerous research studies since it is brushless and cageless and there is no winding on the rotor of this emerging machine. This feature leads to several advantages for this machine in comparison with its induction counterpart, i.e., Brushless Doubly-Fed Induction Machine (BDFIM). Less maintenance, less power losses, and also more reliability are the major advantages of BDFRM compared to BDFIM. The design complexity of its reluctance rotor, as well as flux patterns for indirect connection between the two windings mounted on the stator including power winding and control winding, have restricted the development of this machine technology. In the literature, there is not a comprehensive review of the research studies related to BDFRM. In this paper, the previous research studies are reviewed from different points of view, such as operation, design, control, transient model, dynamic model, power factor, Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT), and losses. It is revealed that the BDFRM is still evolving since the theoretical results have shown that this machine operates efficiently if it is well-designed.

A patent system requires novelty and progressiveness so that new patents do not infringe on the rights of prior art. Patent investigation including a prior art search is essential to the process of commercialization of technology. In general, patent investigation has been conducted by experts based on their qualitative judgement. However, the number of patents has increased so fast that it has become difficult to handle the quantitative burdens of the search with a conventional approach. There have been previous studies dealing with patent investigation to find similar technologies. They had limitations as they did not utilize the citation relationship and similarity between patents in a comprehensive way. In addition, they could not properly reflect the sequential citation relationship of patents though this is effective in discovering similar patents. In this study, we propose an efficient methodology to discover similar technologies by comprehensively considering the similarity and citation relationship between patents. In particular, we intended to reflect the citation sequence and indirect citation relationship in the process of searching for similar patents. For this, we introduced the concept of “patents with indirect connections” (PICs) and devised an algorithm to efficiently detect patent pairs having such a relationship. The proposed methodology of this study contributes to preventing patent litigation in advance by discovering patents with such potential risks. It is expected that this method will provide patent applicants with the opportunity to establish appropriate strategies against competitors with similar technologies. In order to examine the practical applicability of the proposed method, Korean patents related to machine learning and deep learning were collected. As a result of the experiment, it was possible to identify 24 pairs of similar patents without a direct citation relationship and derive appropriate counter strategies.

The exposure to the numerous and challenging changes and pressures in the contemporary society (new technologies, socio-demographic processes, financial and economic crisis, organisational reshaping, societal values changes, etc.) significantly affects the way to live of individuals, who need to completely rethink and reshape their way to behave for being able to face all the new difficulties in their everyday life. Individuals face many difficulties, especially in terms to express themselves, keeping their own identity also with respect of their societal and cultural values. It is not easy to keep and express our own identity into contemporary society characterised by high pluralism and multiculturalism, where, especially the new generations need to feel accepted by the world and don’t often follow their real way to be and behave. In the sport setting the debate on this issue is still open with an increasing focus on the effects of narrative identity constructs on the athletes’ performance. This conceptual study with its explorative nature aims to investigate this issue of narrative identity as a possible effective way for individuals to face the numerous challenges in their everyday life, trying to keep their strong values and their real way to be and behave. The purpose is to analyze the identity issue though the narrative identity constructs with direct and indirect connection to the sport setting, mostly athletes’ performance. Specifically, our purpose is to investigate the relationship between these topics for athletes involved in sport competitions evidencing their way to tell about them.
