AbstractI study yearly changes in personal well-being combining data on current, retrospective and prospective life satisfaction from the German Socio-Economic Panel. Predicted and remembered changes in life satisfaction are both positive on average and match well, whereas the average year to year-change inferred from reports of current life satisfaction is negative. Retrospective assessments of past well-being are strongly influenced by current life satisfaction, significantly related to past life satisfaction and linked to past predictions of current satisfaction. Due to different problems related to the ordinal measurement scale, changes in subjective reference systems and recall ability, the analysis overall suggests that direct reports of intertemporal changes provide valuable additional information for the analysis of individual well-being.

The main objective of the research was to characterize the innovation network and estimate an innovation adoption rate to evaluate its relationship with income generation in quinoa producers in Cabana. The characterization of the innovation network has been carried out using the social network analysis methodology (SNA), the innovation adoption index (IAI) has been obtained through an ordinal measurement scale and the return of the level of adoption of innovations on Producers' income has been estimated using the two-stage least squares methodology (TSLS) through the data obtained in a survey of 268 producers. The weak articulation of social capital has been evidenced in Cabana quinoa producers; however, the network of customers and input suppliers is well defined. Most of the producers stand out for their innovations in the productive component, the main weakness is related to the scarce innovation in the administration component. For each level of innovation adopted, a return of 49.09% on the income of the producer has been estimated, showing that the adoption of innovations has a greater impact on the generation of economic income compared to the years of schooling that only reaches 7.8%.

Nonviolent resistance is considered one of the most effective methods of bringing about political change. Yet empirical research on how nonviolent campaigns emerge is limited. This article considers two sets of considerations which influence the strategic decision of a campaign to use nonviolent or violent methods: interactions with the state and campaign resources. Campaigns are concerned about the risk of repression from the state and are more likely to choose nonviolence when they believe the state will accommodate their demands. Open political competition signals likely accommodation. Campaigns’ nonviolent tactics are more effective when they possess social movement resources, though high levels of movement resources threaten the state. The argument implies political competition and social movement resources are associated with a higher likelihood of a campaign using nonviolence, though the relationship with social movement resources diminishes at high levels. Implications of the argument are tested on a sample of contentious campaigns from 1945 to 2006. Political competition and social movement resources are related as expected to the use of nonviolence. However, an extension shows these factors do not account for the advantage of nonviolent methods, particularly in triggering backlash protests, once a campaign is under way. An original ordinal measurement strategy for campaign methods suggests the intensity of violence and nonviolence are likewise unrelated to competition and resources.

This study aims to examine and analyze the effect of leadership, compensation, commitment, and career development on employee performance at the Pasar Mobil Kemayoran Management (PPMK). In this study, the authors used a descriptive research method using a quantitative approach. In this study, the ordinal measurement method uses a Likert scale which is used to measure the attitudes, opinions and perceptions of a person or group of people about social phenomena. Based on the results of the study showed that the value of Fcount is 11,644 with sig. of 0,000 while the value of Ftable of 2.38. Because Fcount is greater than Ftable (11,644> 2.38) and the value of sig. 0,000 <0.05 then H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, so it can be concluded that the leadership variable (X1).

Prime numbers are routinely used in a variety of applications, e.g., cryptography and hashing. A prime number can only be divided by one and the number itself. A semi-prime number is a product of two or more prime numbers (e.g., 5 × 3 = 15) and can only be formed by these numbers (e.g., 3 and 5). Exploiting this mathematical property allows schema-free encoding of geographical data in nominal or ordinal measurement scales for thematic maps. Schema-free encoding becomes increasingly important in the context of data variety. In this paper, I investigate the encoding of categorical thematic map data using prime numbers instead of a sequence of all natural numbers (1, 2, 3, 4, ..., n) as the category identifier. When prime numbers are multiplied, the result as a single value contains the information of more than one location category. I demonstrate how this encoding can be used on three use-cases, (1) a hierarchical legend for one theme (CORINE land use/land cover), (2) a combination of multiple topics in one theme (Köppen-Geiger climate classification), and (3) spatially overlapping regions (tree species distribution). Other applications in the field of geocomputation in general can also benefit from schema-free approaches with dynamic instead of handcrafted encoding of geodata.

The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system has been widely used in the US. However, until now, there has been no clear understanding of the strategies that should be used to make the transition from Silver to Gold certified projects. The aim of this study was to determine the trends in certified projects for both Silver and Gold LEED for New Construction and Major Renovations (LEED-NCv3) in 2016. Three performances, including (i) certification, (ii) category/subcategory/sub-subcategory certification, and (iii) cross-certification, were evaluated for both Silver and Gold LEED-NCv3 certified projects. For an ordinal measurement scale, a two-tailed Mann-Whitney U test was used. For a ratio measurement scale, an unpaired two-tailed t-test was used. If eight or more Silver and Gold certified projects occurred in the same state, then the state was selected for statistical analysis. As a result, ten states were selected. The following was revealed: (i) low certification performances for both Silver and Gold; (ii) high category performance for Sustainable Sites and Innovation in Design and low category performance for Energy and Atmosphere for both Silver and Gold projects; and (iii) three different strategies of certified projects in transition from Silver to Gold that include (a) energy-emphasized (e.g., CA), (b) non-energy-emphasized (e.g., NY), and (c) integrated (e.g., GA) strategies. We speculate that the possible reasons for such deviations in the decision strategies were due to differences between the adopted ASHRAE 90.1 standards (ASHRAE Standard 90.1 2007 or ASHRAE Standard 90.1 2010) in each of the states.

This research aimed of presented to examine the effect of intellectual intellegence on the performance of educator accountant. Primary data in this research were obtained from the perseption off all lecturers and 76 generation students majoring 2013/2014 in Departement of Accountancy Economy faculty and Business Halu Oleo University. Preceptions in measured by responses to ques tionnaires that uses ordinal measurement with a 5 point Likert scale. The analytical tool used to test the hypotesis is simple linear regression analysis with the help software IBM Statistical Package for Social Sciencess (SPSS) Statistics Versi 22, with comparing the answers of respondents are students and lecturers. The results of this research indicate that intellectual intellegence significantly effect on the performance of educator accountant. The results of the coefficient of determination for intellectual intellegence in R2 = 0,664 dan 0,748. This number can be used to see the contribution of intellectual intellegence on the performance of educator accountant is 66,4% and 74,8%, while the remaining 33,6% and 25,2% was obtained from the contribution of other factors.
