Turmeric has been studied and used as a plant derivate active ingredient for centuries. Several effects of turmeric have been described, however the poor solubility of its active ingredients during the formulation development may limit oral applicability. The aim of research was to involve the development of a dietary supplement of a hard capsule containing turmeric (Curcuma longa) (ground powder from the root standardized to curcuminoid content) and sodium benzoate. The manufacturing technology and the analytic method of the formulation have been developed. Formulation studies according to the Ph. Hg. VIII. standards have been performed. The product may have insulin sensitizing and memory enhancing effects, related animal studies are ongoing.

Analyzing coffee grain roasting operations - Veracruz Region will contribute to the distribution of equipment and machinery in the Industrial Engineering workshop of the Educational Program. It aims to obtain improvements in the roasting process through the study of the work (January–June 2019), to lay the foundation for the proposals of Systems of Quality Management, Safety and Environmental Care in the following phases of the project (2019-2020) with effects on continuous improvement. In the coffee industry in Mexico has in the medium and long term, opportunities to grow and consolidate. As with most agricultural products from smallholders, such as coffee, the prices paid for the input ("cherry coffee") They are far from what the processed coffee comes to obtain in presentations of soluble and ground powder for coffee makers, and the process of improvement, quality, efficiency in roasting activities is necessary. The method analyzed the case studies of the operations of companies, producers and research related to the coffee and coffee industry and the interpretation of the statistical results.

This study focuses on the characterization of pigment compounds presence in Sargassum sp. extracts. The ground powder of dry Sargassum sp. was macerated in in methanol solution at 60°C for 48 hours in an aluminium foil-wrapped conical flask (to provide the dark environment). The extracted colourant was measured with UV-vis Spectrophotometer and Q-TOF LCMS to determine the compounds presence. The extracted colourant also used to dye pretreated and untreated polyester fabric with poly(amidoamine) dendrimer at different concentrations with and without mordants. The exhaustion dyeing with the simultaneous mordanting procedure was carried at 85°C for 60 minutes. The colorimetric properties of the dyed fabrics were then analysed. The results showed that the pigment compounds presence in Sargassum sp. extracts is fucoxanthin and chlorophyll. The application of dendrimer improved K/S values of the dyed fabric. Thus, Sargassum sp. extract is suitable to be used as natural dyes for textile dyeing.

A study in vitro on the antioxidant activity of Portulaca oleracea L. was carried out by HPLC-ESR Spin-trapping System. HPLCESR analysis is performed on monitoring ESR signal intensity of radicals adduct of 5,5-dimethyl-1-pyrroline N-oxide (DMPO/O2). The ESR signal which is recorded from the Portulaca oleracea L. extracts in aqueous buffer by HPLC-ESR system showed that the high antioxidant activity of the extracts reduce the concentration of DMPO/O2 signal to 80 % and the absorbance of reactive oxygen species from 0.08 to 0.06. The ground powder and the extract of Portulaca oleracea were in vivo performed on GMRGAL4/ UAS-hDuox2 flies containing hDuox2 protein which induced high oxidative stress and expressed rough-eye phenotype. Antioxidant activities of Portulaca oleracea were evaluated by comparing the rough-eye area before and after the experiment. At the concentration of 20 %, the ground powder and the extracts induced antioxidant activities to 81.72 % and 87.33 %, respectively. The result showed that both the ground powder and the extracts had antioxidant activities which reduced symptoms of rough-eye phenotypes. In conclusion, the in vitro and in vivo experiments indicated that both ground power and aqueous extract of leaves of Portulaca oleracea possess effective antioxidative abilities.
